Chapter 3 - The Appearance of Purple Aura

Wen Nuan was organizing the original host's memories in order to survive in this sinful ancient society and avoid dying tragically.

The original host had run into her childhood fiancé Zhu Zhenxuan while seeing a doctor in town.

The fiancé had a few harsh things to say about her. He called her a psychotic villain, a plague, a cursed star who had brought disaster upon a large family. He said she would soon cause the death of her entire family, turning men into slaves and women into prostitutes. He even swore he would never marry her, fearing she would ruin his family, and claimed that anyone who became her family would end up doomed.

The original host didn't really care about not being able to marry him, but his words had greatly hurt her.

She thought, her family really had suffered because of her.

Her eldest sister married into a poor household because of her. Her second sister had to spend a year working in a tavern just to earn the twenty or so copper coins needed to buy her medicine.

Because their father stopped supporting their education, her two brothers also had to follow their father to the city to work.

Even her mother and grandmother helped the landowner's family wash clothes. All the younger siblings went up the mountain to gather firewood to sell—everything was done just to earn money to treat her illness.

In these ten years, the family sold their tiled house, farmland, and even their noodle shop. They ended up living in a wooden shack, barely getting enough to eat or stay warm.

Because of her poor health, she needed to eat more nutritious food. Meanwhile, everyone else in the family survived on porridge and water—this included even the youngest children, Wen Ran and Wen Luo.

Before she was born, the family was doing well. Her mother, was the daughter-in-law of a family who owned a noodle shop. Her two older brothers could attend school . Back then, the family had enough to eat and warm clothes to wear. But after she got sick for three days straight, everything in the household was sold off and the family was plunged into poverty.

The original host always felt guilty. Whenever she was emotionally triggered, she would ask her parents for time off, saying she didn't want to drag anyone down with her.

After retiring from work, she once attempted to commit suicide by jumping into a river when no one was home.

Luckily, she was quickly rescued.

But her body worsened after that and she fell seriously ill, eventually dying. From then on, her name became taboo.

As for the current Wen Nuan, she had died in a mall fire while saving her two nephews. After that, she ran into an old herbal medicine shop to rescue an elderly man.She had died in a mall fire. After rescuing her brother's two children, she ran back into the old herbal medicine shop to save an elderly man.

For reasons unknown, something exploded in the shop. She shielded the old man with her own body, but she was instantly consumed by the fire.

She remembered that, just before dying, she seemed to see a Buddha statue in the herbal shop emitting a beam of purple light that pierced through her body. Then she lost consciousness.

When she woke up, she had received the original host's memories.

Wen Nuan closed her eyes, sorted out her thoughts, and concluded that she must have been brought here by that beam of purple light. Her original body had already been burned to ashes and could not return.

Thinking about her previous life's suffering, which had come too late to be prevented, Wen Nuan suddenly felt a burning pain in her palm. She painfully opened her eyes and looked at her own palm—inside it, to her surprise, was a swirl of purple energy.

Wen Nuan: "???"

Seeing Wen Nuan open her eyes, Wen Ran quickly widened her eyes in shock, thinking she was feeling unwell, and nervously asked, "Sister, are you feeling okay?"Wen Nuan subconsciously nclenched her fist and replied absentmindedly, "No. But sister, I'm a little thirsty, I want to drink some water."

Seeing the purple energy in her palm, she instinctively thought: Whatever this is, I definitely shouldn't let the child notice.

Wen Nuan also wanted to observe the purple energy more closely, so she used the opportunity to send Wen Ran away.

"I'll get you some water!" Wen Ran immediately got out of bed and ran out across the wooden floor.

As soon as Wen Ran left, Wen Nuan opened her palm again and saw the purple energy begin to spread up from her palm, flowing from her wrist all the way through her body.

As the purple energy entered her, she instantly felt a warm sensation spreading throughout her body.

The purple energy quickly disappeared, but she felt much lighter and even her head stopped aching.

Could this purple energy actually have healing properties?

In the modern era, Wen Nuan had inherited the true legacy of a traditional Chinese medicine master and understood how to treat injuries. She took her own pulse, and to her surprise, her pulse was not weak at all—it was even stronger than before.

Wen Nuan couldn't suppress her joy. With this purple energy, she would be able to get out of bed very soon.

Although she understood medicine and could properly adjust her condition, her body was in too poor a state. To recover, she would need to take a lot of Chinese medicine, including some expensive ones. But right now, they didn't have much money at home, so it would be best if she could recover without medicine.

She didn't need to be fully cured—if she could just stand and walk normally, she could figure out a way to make money.

Wen Qing looked at the purple energy in her palm. Its color had faded a lot by now, leaving only a few strands, light and misty, barely visible—like it could be blown away at any moment.

She wanted to use this purple energy to strengthen her body again, but it looked like it wouldn't work—she would have to wait for it to recover.

She wondered if this purple energy had any other uses besides healing and strengthening the body?

Could it heal or strengthen animals? Plants?

Womu decided to study it in more detail.

At that moment, Wen Ran brought over a bowl of warm water: "Sister, here's your water."

Wen Ran placed the water by the bed. Wen Nuan made an effort to sit up.

Wen Qing had already sat up by herself.

Wen Ran couldn't hide her surprise: "Sister, you can sit up on your own?"

"Yeah, I feel much better." The original host had just recovered from an illness and had found it hard to even sit up before.

"That's great! I'll go tell Grandma right now!" Wen Ran dashed out like the wind.

Wen Nuan picked up the large, roughly made bowl. It was a far cry from the delicate porcelain bowls she used in her previous life, but she didn't mind. She lowered her head and drank all the water in one go.

Madam Wang soon came in: "Nuan Nuan, you can sit up by yourself?"

"I feel much better."

"That's great! The medicine should be almost ready. Drink it after you wake up, maybe you'll get fully better!" Wang Shi's face lit up with joy.

"Okay." Wen Qing also wanted some peace and quiet.

So Madam Wang left again.

Wen Nuan lay in bed, thinking about her future. She needed to find a way to earn money quickly, get enough food and clothing, and ideally move into a new house before winter. In modern times, there were only two heirs to the three major families—her and her older brother. So from birth, she was pushed to learn many things. She wasn't afraid of not making money—making money wasn't hard.

Thinking of the modern world, she thought of her older brother. A few years ago, a plane crash took the lives of their entire family—her grandmother's side, her maternal grandmother's side—so many life's was lost in that accident.

Now that she had also died, her brother must be devastated!

Fortunately, he had already married. He had a good relationship with his wife, and they were expecting a pair of adorable, intelligent twins, who should be born soon.

"Brother, you'll have to take care of the family from now on. I'll live well here too."

Wen Nuan's eyes grew slightly moist. Then she remembered: the original host's grandmother had the same name as her own grandmother, and her father and mother had the same names as hers, only their appearances were a bit different.

What a coincidence. Perhaps the heavens had seen her kindness and allowed her to continue her parents' love and fate in another world.

Thinking of this, Wen Nuan felt an even stronger desire to nurture her health and become wealthy.

With thoughts of money-making swirling in her head, Wen Nuan fell asleep.
