Chapter 2 - The Second Prince

Felix's POV:

They say life is all about racing and achieving goals and then... then what? What will you do after gaining them all? Rest? Won't you feel tired because of all those running? Well that's what I'm feeling right now! Tired, extremely tired and my life just had been started, hell I'm not even half-fifty yet!

Last morning I was yet to start my journey from Gyanlo, Kingdom of Yosur's capital, and here I'm now, entering the Ryotle City, capital of the Kingdom of Toyre, my kingdom. It was a long journey to be covered by a single 24 hours, however I had to rush, not even stopping for a stretching out break; afterall it was a very urgent letter from my mother and let me inform you she doesn't do that usually, not even for once. So I wonder, what caused her to do the almost impossible thing, it better be something serious or I'll show her how serious I'm too for leaving the family forever.

What?! Yes it's true that I don't stay with them, since the age of seven I had been raised by my maternal grandparents untill I turned 17 and had to go to the Yeagers for my medical school, they have the best medical facilities available in the whole continent. Five years later, which is now, I'm finally going back 'home' if that's what I should call it afterall; whereas I should be on my way to the University of Escortia for my residency surgeon program. My classes start on 5th September and it's already the 1st day, I'll be in need of a medical certificate for justifying my late reporting!

"Great! How am I supposed to make a good impression over the teachers?!" I groaned loudly.

The shaking of the constantly moving wagon came to stop by the city gate, for security check purpose of course and it's already time for me to ditch this vehicle. I will have to take another one to go inside through the city until I reach the Royal Palace. It didn't take much time for me to pass through the gate as I showed them my own royal badge which I still hesitate to keep on my body contact. Though I know very well my looks and features are very unlikely to be recognised as they have never seen their second prince or I may add they have long forgotten that I ever existed.

I'm used to it by now and I should admit that I enjoy it like this, no one to follow you around, no one to always bow to you, fearing if they ever offended you; I like people acting as they are no more mask, no disguise. However if I'm asked that if I'm okay with keeping this normal boy disguise going on, then my answer will be .... "That's a complicated matter to be revealed through my life story. Let's get going." I muttered under a heavy sigh.

The capital as always bustling with it's own taste and various diversity, hasn't changed much after my short visit which was one year ago. It's markets full with vendors shouting out and customers bribing continuesly, I had this stupid grin over my face for a long while which made me realise "ahh, this is what feels to be back to your home. I guess I missed it unnoticably."

I was waiting for the public wagon in a long line with my luggages which consist one large duffle bag which I held with my left hand, a large trunk, kept by my footsteps and one medium size bagpack which was hanging from my shoulders. To say that they were heavyweight would be an understatement, I was barely managing to move them as the line kept forwarding and the slight pain on my right upper arm, coming from the almost completely healed wound which I got months ago, wasn't helping me in any way. If I keep going like this, it might get it's fragile skin tissue torn apart again, causing bleeding which I absolutely don't want right now not at least when I'm in a crowded place.

Just as I was about to move the trunk again, someone came running into me really hard, I lost my balance and fell down, and I stood up as quickly as possible because I saw that a bit short yet buffy, strong, masked man ran away with my trunk and the duffle bag which consisted all my personal surgical instruments including some of my personal notes, I definitely can not let him have that, so I sprinted after him.

I was almost sure that I had seen him entering this alleyway, however the deserted condition of it and the dead end proved me wrong and my guts screaming "everything's wrong" got my sense to be alerted as adrenaline pumped through my veins, my left hand already on the dagger's handle in my waist belt. A slight rustle of wind announced someone's presence in my back, before I could turn around, few small needles came flying at me, i heard the clear sound of a mechanism click. I had one choice to avoid and that by dodging the needles and face the attackers.

I swiftly flipped myself in the air, missing one needle passing by my left ear, which was still ringing as I stood straight, this time face to face with the attacker. It was clearly not the short buff man, he had the same height as me, maybe one or two centimetres more, the outline clearly showing a well maintained strong body and his face...well it was covered with a black clothing.

Before I could start assuming whomever I offended by just keeping my footsteps on my homeland, he came charging at me with his sword which seemed weird to me as I noticed how clumsy he was acting. His pace was slow, but his charge seemed strong, my dagger was finally out as I stepped aside a bit to avoid the initial attack, he changed his direction, aiming at my right shoulder.

"Uuhu! Not there!" I thought as I successfully tackled his sword by my dagger with my left hand. He stepped back a bit, looking at me up and down for a whole minute, and I didn't have a good feeling about it. I mean he didn't recognise me right ? I had an acceptable simple disguise, maybe my blonde hair caught his attention. I shrugged off the matter as he changed his strategy, suddenly coming at me with high speed as he grabbed my right upper arm in his left hand's strong grip, holding his sword backward with his right hand, two inches away from my throat. I looked at him with only provocation in my eyes, my left hand still holding the dagger over his right kidney.

His strong grip over my right hand was hurting a lot by then, I was so immersed in that, that I almost lost focus. My eyes were getting teary and I probably lost the strength to fight back.

"Use your damn right hand! SECOND PRINCE LAWRENCE!"

I couldn't trust my own hearing, it was a voice I could never dare to forget or mishear. Still looking at his masked face the only thing that gave me all the answers was his doe like eyes that always sparkle with starlight whenever he sees me, however this time they were filled with rage and I could not help myself from shuddering, throwing the dagger and his sword, I engulfed him in a warm embrace as it was the only way I knew to calm him down.

When I felt his hands securing me behind my back, I finally let my tears flow out, "I've missed you too brother."
