Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Beyond the Forest

Mary and the girl in green walked silently through the dark heart of the forest. The branches above their heads remained tightly interwoven, and they kept following the path lit by the glowing fireflies. Suddenly, a soft golden light filtered through the leaves overhead. Both of them stopped, exchanged a glance, and a gentle smile appeared on their lips. In that moment, fear, doubt, life, and death all seemed to pause.

Together, they stepped toward the light. As they crossed the final edge of the forest, it felt like they were stepping into an entirely new world—one where darkness had given way to light, and fear had been replaced by calm.

Mary stared wide-eyed at the view before her. A green, enchanting village stretched out ahead. Colorful flowers bloomed in every corner, filling the air with their sweet scent. Birds with blue, orange, and green feathers sang from the branches, and white rabbits hopped playfully across the fields. In the distance, a still lake glistened like a clear mirror, the sunlight dancing across its surface.

Mary (whispering in awe):Wow... What a place! I couldn't have imagined this even in my dreams. It's so peaceful... like I've stepped into a magical world.

The girl in green looked at her with a serene, satisfied smile.

Mary (gently taking her hand):Thank you... I wouldn't have made it here without you.

Girl in Green (softly):It was you who chose this path, Mary. I was only beside you, nothing more.

Mary was silent for a moment. She looked deep into the girl's eyes.

Mary:Remember what we said? After the forest, we'd each go our separate ways...

Girl in Green (with a bittersweet smile):Yes, I remember.

Mary (sighing):I don't want you to go... You helped me find myself again.

Girl in Green (gently):I've always been with you, Mary... because I've always been a part of you. From the very beginning.

Mary stared at her in surprise, but before she could respond, a soft green light began to radiate from the girl's body. She started to glow, like sunlit leaves in the morning. The light shimmered and floated gently through the air, drifting toward Mary.

Mary closed her eyes. Her heart pounded—not from fear, but from awakening. From the birth of something new. She embraced the light, without hesitation.

Mary felt she was no longer alone. Not because someone was standing beside her—But because something had awakened within her.
