The night after Raelynn's chilling visit, Alina found herself restless. The wind outside howled softly, carrying with it the scent of roses from the palace garden.
"Elric?" she whispered, walking into the balcony where he stood, looking out at the moonlit sky.
He turned, smiling gently. "Couldn't sleep either?"
She shook her head and joined him. "She's planning something. I feel it in my chest. Like a weight pressing down."
Elric pulled her into his arms. "Then let me carry it with you. You're not alone anymore, Alina."
They stood there quietly for a while, the night wrapping around them like a soft cloak. The stars glittered above, and for a moment, everything else faded away.
"I never thought I'd find peace after everything," Alina said softly. "After growing up not knowing who I really was. After believing my mother left me."
Elric cupped her cheek, his eyes full of emotion. "You found the truth. And you found me. That peace… it's yours now."
Alina leaned into his touch. "Do you think we can hold on to this? Even with Raelynn still around?"
He smiled. "We'll hold on. Even if the world turns against us."
Then, gently, he kissed her.
It wasn't hurried or fiery—it was slow, reassuring, full of unspoken promises. Alina's heart settled for the first time that day. In his arms, she found strength.
"I love you," she whispered.
Elric rested his forehead against hers. "And I'll protect you. Always."
As the moon bathed them in silver light, two hearts beat in unison—ready to face the storm together.
