The seal's echo hasn't left me.
Not in my mind. Not in my bones. And definitely not in my chakra.
Ever since I sat in that circle, my steps feel heavier—but not tired. More like the ground is listening now. Like it waits for me to make the first move.
I hate that I kind of like it.
We're back in Konoha. Debriefed. Cleared. Nothing unusual to report, because apparently chakra-reactive ancient seals don't make it into mission scrolls unless they explode.
Hiruzen raises an eyebrow during Genma's report, but doesn't say anything. Classic Hokage move.
I swear he knows more than he lets on. Like, 87% sure he's letting me dig this rabbit hole on purpose
The next day, we're at the training grounds again.
Target practice. Standard drills.
But I'm not doing standard anymore.
Genma tosses a weighted seal-tag at me mid-run. I duck, roll, and push chakra into the ground—not to stop it, but to tilt the terrain under his feet.
He slides.
Catches himself. Grins like a proud dad.
"That wasn't Earth Release," he says.
"Nope."
"Wasn't Wind either."
"Correct."
"So what was it?"
I look at my hands. Flex my fingers.
"Timing."
Takkun and Damu are doing their own thing—mostly yelling at each other over whether squirrels are allowed to be summoned creatures. I don't interrupt.
Instead, I sit cross-legged and send out another pressure pulse.
Crack. Pull. Hold.
The grass bends a little. Not cut. Not crushed.
Just displaced.
Later, Genma drops a scroll in front of me. It's blank.
"Start logging," he says.
"Logging what?"
"Whatever your chakra is doing. Before it outpaces you."
I pause.
"You think it's dangerous."
He doesn't answer. Just walks away.
That's a yes.
I title the scroll: Pressure Notes.
Page 1:
Chakra rhythm: 3-beat wave. Works best on terrain and chakra-sensitive objects.
Disruption range: close. No signs of long-distance projection yet.
Side effects: slight vibration in hands. Brain feels like it's preloading thoughts too fast.
I don't know what I'm turning into.
But I know I'm not turning back.
