Chapter 5 - "The Treant Massacre"

The sky had darkened not from clouds, but from ash. Atlas Vale hovered above the city like a burning god, Titanus Prime Armor gleaming with molten energy. His eyes locked onto the Three Treants, still towering but now, they sensed something they had never known before. Fear. The first Treant roared and lunged but Atlas didn't hesitate. He blasted forward with a sonic boom, right through its stomach. A brutal, wet shredding noise fused with the splintering of wood and rupturing flesh. It echoes like metal claws ripping through a thick, armored tree trunk, layered with the sickening squelch of bursting organs. The kind of sound that makes the air vibrate raw, violent, unforgettable.! His body tore a hole clean through the beast's torso, guts and bark-like flesh exploded out the other side. The Treant staggered, letting out a garbled screech as it collapsed to its knees its insides raining over the buildings below. Before the gore even touched the ground, Atlas spun in the air, charging a new power deep within his gauntlet. A swirling energy gathered unstable, glowing, unlike anything from Earth or Isle Terra. He aimed. "ZeroPoint Beam… Fire." A blinding blue beam erupted from his arm and vaporized the second Treant, melting it from the inside out. The core shattered like glass, and a mushroom-cloud of glowing bark shards and molten gore expanded in slow motion. The second was gone. Only the third remained. The biggest. The oldest. It tried to retreat. Too late. Atlas turned toward it. No words. Just one punch. ONE. He flew in at superluminal speed space bent around his fist and when he hit… The Treant didn't fall. It didn't scream. It simply ceased to exist. Obliterated into nothing but a shockwave and vapor. Trees miles away caught fire from the force. The crater left behind was a mile wide. Silence. Atlas floated there, breathing hard. Then, through the smoke, he looked down at the ruined city. At what was left of San Francisco USA. At the remains of GirlSteel, who once stood alone to defend it. He clenched his fists.

"Never again."
