PROLOGUE
DIARY
The storm raged like a wounded beast.
I was walking in my rain boots, my velvet coat sipping quiet rain.
A deep-blue umbrella crowned my silence.
A sparkling-dark diary, stealing the spotlight in silence.
I, still searching for a man who dares stand equal.
Caroline Havens. Heaven-shattering standards. Her dress whispered luxury with every thread.
Her lips kissed by a mask, separating the world from her.
The rain's rhythm shifted-an anomaly stepped into it.
A man. His jet-black coat clung like shadowed silk, kissed by silver rain.
It trailed behind, his umbrella a veil of his world.
A book, diary-sized, hugged his waist like a secret.
He brushed past me like a cold breeze.
Splash!
Our books fell. I crouched, he leaned.
My fingers slid across the fabric-luxurious, foreign.
I picked it up. He was already walking-never looked back.
"Who was he?" I whispered. Something sparked. My irises widened, lashes fluttered like wings.
The rain died softly. One last drop clung to my lash as I looked skyward.
The moon, hiding behind guilt or shame, slowly stepped into view.
Moonlight danced across me, silver droplets catching fire.
Then I saw it-something unfamiliar in my grip.
Its cover, silver-mirroring the moon.
Emotion surged. My brows tensed. Fingers twitched.
What if... our diaries switched? That man in the shade-he has mine.
I looked back. He was gone.
Do I follow the trail or accept fate's theft?
I flipped it open-NYCO BROTHERS stamped like a warning.
Nyco Brothers... I knew them. But why now?
Is my diary worth the chase-or is fate writing my next chapter?
I tucked it close, turned with a fire lit in my heels.
A new journey sparked. My pace quickened.
Who was he?
Was he fate-tied?
Questions danced in my eyes, and I... began to glow.
