BAM!
Leon was sent crashing to the ground by the sudden impact. Above him stood a figure with short, bluish-black hair and golden-yellow eyes, laughing cheerfully.
"Oops! So sorry! I got a little too excited!"
Sylvaine let out a sigh. "Sylphine... you're always like this."
Sylphine Belphegor—Sylvaine's twin sister, whose hyperactive personality was a stark contrast to Sylvaine's calm demeanor. She wore a tight-fitting black-and-purple combat suit, with a spear strapped to her back.
"I heard there's a cool new demon here! So..." She jumped to her feet and pointed at Leon.
"Let's duel! Magic, weapons, or a mix?"
Leon was stunned. "I... can't use magic, and I don't even know if I have any."
"Why not?"
"Because I've never been checked."
Sylphine frowned. "Huh? No way someone as cool as you hasn't been tested?!" She quickly grabbed his arm.
"Let's go to the Testing Room right now!"
"Wait for me too, Sylphine!"
Upon arriving, they were faced with a giant crystal. Sylphine pushed Leon forward.
"Touch that crystal and see what magic you have!"
"But..."
"Fine, if you're still unsure. Sylvaine, you go first—you haven't been checked either, right?"
"Alright."
Sylvaine placed her hand on the crystal. It glowed yellow, revealing the word Lightning.
"Okay, now it's your turn, Leon."
Leon stepped forward and touched the crystal. A blinding silver light filled the room, revealing the words Space & Time, but suddenly, the color shifted to pitch black as another word appeared—Darkness—causing cracks to form in the crystal.
"T-Three elements?!" Sylphine fell back in shock.
"This... this is impossible!"
"The only ones who ever had this were the ancestors of the Demon Kings, Lucifer and Satan!"
"What kind of monster did Brother Zephyr bring to this palace?"
"The other demons must never find out about this!"
"If other demons—or worse, the other Demon Kings—discover this, Leon will become a target!"
"Leon, you have to promise never to reveal or show that you have more than one magic!"
"Especially that Darkness magic!"
"You can only use Space and Time, got it?"
"You too, Sylvaine—don't tell anyone."
"Alright, let's head to the training grounds. I'll teach you both how to use your magic."
In the training arena, Sylphine began instructing them on the basics.
"First, you need to focus your energy on the point you want to channel it. Like this." She concentrated her magic into her palm, summoning a blue lightning bolt.
"Alright, now you try."
Sylvaine succeeded, conjuring purple lightning in her hand and launching an attack at a nearby boulder, shattering it in one strike.
Leon kept trying but kept failing—his magic energy kept exploding prematurely, frustrating him.
Sylphine suggested, "Leon, try channeling it into a weapon!"
Leon picked up a spear. Focusing, he enveloped the weapon in his magic energy—and succeeded. With a single swing, a small spatial rift appeared at the spear's tip.
"Yay! Alright, how about a duel to test your skills?" Sylphine readied her lightning spear.
At Sylvaine's signal, the match began.
Sylphine struck first, overwhelming Leon with her speed. Spotting an opening, Leon counterattacked, but Sylphine dodged—though his spear still managed to slice off a bit of her hair.
Sylphine grinned. "Nice! Now try blocking this!"
Her next strike grazed Leon's left arm, wounding him. Leon retaliated swiftly, landing a hit on Sylphine.
Instead of being upset, Sylphine laughed. "Heh... Leon, you're exactly the kind of person I've been looking for..."
"Alright, let's keep going!"
Before they could clash again, Zephyr suddenly appeared.
"That's enough, both of you."
"Sylphine... I swear, when it comes to fighting, you never think things through."
"Your little sparring match knocked out all the servants in the palace because of your energy."
"I'm sorry, Brother!"
"I apologize as well, Your Majesty."
"Fine, you're forgiven—but don't do it again, understand?"
"Leon, go rest. Tomorrow, you'll be stopping a pack of wolf monsters heading for the city."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
"I'll take my leave now, King Zephyr, Princess Sylphine, and Princess Sylvaine."
"See you later, Leon!"
