I called her in a whisper, hoping that Yuki, who was engrossed in the sight, would not hear.
She pretended not to hear. She walked on without turning around.
"Tori, please!" I called out again, in desperation.
She stopped and turned to me. But there was no sympathy or fear in her eyes. Only... emptiness.
"It's all your fault," she said softly, "you and your stupidity. I just want to get out of here. I want this to end."
"but... The rest!" I shouted, "Help us! We'll come up with a plan together! Please, Tori!"
She shook her head.
"My life is the most important thing."
"I'm sorry, Tori. I didn't want it to happen like this!"
"You've always attracted trouble...Like now, like when you was in high school. I don't need to keep your secret anymore- now it's just your problem, now everyone knows that you're just a scoundrel bringing trouble on everyone. And everything that happens to others is now your responsibility."
All this made me plunge into the past and gave rise to a lot of unpleasant memories. But how did she find out my secret? And what else does she know about me?
It didn't matter now. She just wants to distract me from the most important thing.
"But..."
Tears filled my eyes.
"You can at least... Tell the teacher what's going on here!"
Even though I hated adults, I still hoped that Teacher Haruka would be able to come and save all of us, as he always did.
She nodded, but there was no confidence in her voice.
"Yes, I will do that."
She cautiously opened the door. I saw the fear in her eyes, but there was something else mixed in with it... indifference. She took a step into the darkness and ran away without looking back.
Yuki didn't even seem to notice it. She continued to watch what was happening, and I couldn't figure out what was on her mind. Why did she let Tori leave? And why, when she was running away, she did something like this... Did joy flash across Yuki's face? What connected them? Why was Tori special to her? Why was she more important than everyone else?
"You... You'll be back, won't you?" I whispered, feeling hope leave me. But there was only silence in response.
Yuki suddenly broke into a wide smile that sent shivers down her spine.
"And now... The fun begins!" She sang while clapping her hands. - "New game! Who wants to live?!"
Those words pierced through the numbness like an electric shock. It seemed that despair had reached its peak, but, strangely enough, there was still hope in people. Everyone suddenly screamed at the same time, interrupting each other, begging for mercy.
"Please, Miss Yuki! We will be good! We won't do it anymore! Let us go!"
Yuki walked between them, stroked their hair, kissed them on the cheeks.
"I love you so much, my good ones! My lovely children!" She was chirping, but there wasn't a drop of love in her eyes. Just a perverse thirst for power.
Asagi covered her ears and started screaming. I took her hand, trying to calm her down, but she sank her teeth into my skin, repeating the same name.
"Yuki... Yuki... Yuki..." In her eyes, she seemed to see not me, but her tormentor. She was losing her mind completely.
The wolf girl stood up, gritting her teeth. Her body tensed as if about to jump.
Suddenly, Patrick, who had been unconscious all this time, woke up. Before he could figure anything out, Yuki pressed a button on the remote control. An aquarium filled with water appeared next to Patrick. The next moment, the aquarium covered his head.
Patrick convulsed, choking on the water, his eyes bulging in horror.
The wolf girl rushed to the aquarium, trying to break the glass.
"You filthy thing! I will destroy you! Stop it!" she screamed, punching and elbowing.
Each of her blows left a bloody trail on the glass, but it remained intact. The skin was peeling off her hands, but she didn't give up. She kept hitting, kept screaming, trying to save Patrick, even though it was too late. His body went limp, and only a lifeless silhouette remained at the bottom of the aquarium.
Suddenly, Carmen's hysterical laughter broke the silence. It was harsh, painful, and full of madness.
"Kill her! Kill Hana! She's to blame for everything!" She screamed, choking with laughter and tears.
Hana seemed numb with horror. Her eyes widened and her lips trembled. And suddenly... She began to choke on saliva, her body convulsed. And then, as if possessed, she lunged at Carmen, sinking her teeth into her flesh.
Carmen's cry of pain and despair echoed through the room.
The wolf girl, waking up from her stupor, tried to pull them away from each other. But her efforts were in vain. Both girls were in a state of madness, overcome by uncontrollable rage.
Suddenly, Minato, trembling with fear, pointed at me.
"Him! Kill him! He was the one who saved the wolf girl! Now we're all dead! It's his fault!"
I looked at Miku. There was no sympathy in her eyes, only fear. She shook her head, averting her gaze and tightening her grip on Minato's hand. At that moment, I felt a sharp disappointment. They all... egocentric. Ready to betray and kill to save their own skin.
Suddenly, Asagi screamed again. She didn't just scream–her scream was full of primal terror. Her body convulsed, turning inside out. I could see the bones moving under her skin. It was unthinkable, unnatural.
I rushed to her, trying to help her, but it was too late. The bones in her neck began to turn, squeezing her throat. She was gasping for breath, and her eyes were bloodshot. In the next instant, her body went limp. Asagi died by suffocating on her own bones.
Yuki… She was just laughing. Her laughter was pure, carefree, completely at odds with the nightmare going on around her.
She enjoyed it. She enjoyed our suffering.
Suddenly, Miku freed herself from the straps, grabbed Minato by the arm and dragged him to the door. Did they get out? But how?
Keep up the good work! Meanwhile, I rushed to Yuki and bit her leg so hard that she screamed in pain. At least I could do something in this fucking hell. And my body wasn't holding me back anymore.
"Let's run away! We're done here!" Miku whispered, her eyes filled with panic.
Minato hesitated. "But... The others?"
"We have no one to save! Let's save ourselves!"
They rushed to the door, but Yuki noticed them. She roughly grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and pressed me against the wall so that it seemed to me as if my spine had turned into sand and left my body. The pain was hellish, and everything blurred before my eyes.
Then Yuki gave me an injection, and I felt the needle pierce my skin and the liquid began to flow through my veins. It was not the same liquid that I had been injected with before.
I felt dizzy and my vision went dark. The last thing I saw was a woman smiling at me through Hinata's eyes.
"Run, guys!"
A voice woke me up.
It was her...I heard them quarreling-how the wolf girl rushed at Yuki and stabbed her in the back.
"Have you regained your strength? I'll fix it!"
And she sprayed her with strange liquids that hurt her. I heard her whimpering and continued to struggle.
"Where are you going, my dears?" Her voice was icy.
Minato, trembling with fear, pushed Mika forward.
"It's her! She was the only one who wanted to escape! I tried to stop her! Stop it!" He shouted, pointing at Miku.
Miku's eyes reflected complete shock.
" Minato... How could you? No", she whispered, her voice trembling with pain.
Yuki laughed.
"What a touching moment! But unfortunately, I dislike traitors more than I dislike disobedient ones!"
The next moment, a shot rang out. Minato collapsed to the floor, choking on blood.
"Traitors to the wall, and disobedient - for edification!" Yuki proclaimed.
She walked up to Miku and, without saying a word, kicked her in the stomach. Miku bent over in pain, and Yuki started beating her. She beat her fiercely, as if taking out all her anger on her.
Miku screamed, but her screams were drowned out by Yuki's laughter. Her fate was sealed. She was another victim of this crazy farce.
But suddenly, the wolf girl rushes at Yuki and starts gnawing at her flesh, trying to tear her apart.
I decided to leave-I've had enough. I want to die peacefully! I don't want to see any more stabbings! We're all dead anyway! And I didn't want to live without Asagi. I couldn't save her or anyone else in this hell. I was just watching. I deserve to die.
My head was spinning and my vision was blurry. The corridor seemed to breathe, the walls contracting and unclenching. I leaned against the wall, trying to keep my balance.
Nurse Hinata wouldn't do that to me! Wait, who is this? Who is Nurse Hinata and why do I want to remember her? Who is Asagi? Who are these children who surround me? I don't remember anything at all!
"Damn, what did you give me? I can't breathe!"
I clutched at my throat, feeling the air leave my lungs with every movement of my chest.
And suddenly... She appeared at the end of the hallway. The wolf girl I saved back then. I definitely remember her.
She stood in the shadows, her eyes burning with wild fire. She was looking right at me, as if she could see my soul.
She stretched out her hand in my direction, as if trying to reach me.
I tried to get closer to her, but my legs wouldn't obey me. I felt my consciousness leaving me, plunging into an abyss of darkness.
Before I finally lost consciousness, I heard her voice. Quiet, husky, but so familiar.
"You shouldn't trust them!"
