Now when the item appeared in my hands I was expecting something else but the item I got looked like a sized up Tamagotchi machine with a pair of antennas, When I held it I could tell it was what I Summoned.
In my hands is a key item from most of the Pokémon games which people usually neglect since its purpose is tricky also since its sole role isn't used in Pokémon battles but only in the overworld.
In my hands is a Dowsing Machine.
With a smile I try to activate the device but find out that when I try to it doesn't light up at all, I flip the device over and find a small flap on its back, releasing the flap I find a section reserved for some sort of box battery which is currently empty. . .
Wow, I can summon an item from nothing but It doesn't come with batteries included. . .
This causes me to start laughing while covering my eyes at the stupidity, but after a few laughs I hear a 'Ding' come from the device.
When I look at it I find it now lit up and powered but as I turn it over to inspect the battery compartment again I find a certain Pokémon Stuck to the back of the device with her mouth in the recess.
"What are you doing Himiko?" I ask her, and the response I get back from her is muffled by the item.
[You said this item was important but you only opened this hole and then laughed, I wanted to see what's so funny about this hole.]
Hearing the innocence in her voice makes me chuckle as her nosing around unintentionally made her a battery for the item because she's an electric type.
"well that hole is where the battery for the device is meant to go, a battery is like a rock that holds a lot of electricity which humans use to power our devices."
She takes her face out of the device and it shuts down without a power source.
"It seems I'll need to visit the city again to get a battery for the Dowsing machine, once I do that I'll explain the next step of my plan ok." she just nods before I take out her Pokéball and contain her.
I make my way towards the archway for the first time in the week of waiting, when I approach, I hear a beep come from my Xtransceiver, when I look at it the third app on the device is open revealing a list of some sort but at the top of the list is the word 'Unova'.
I selected it and it changed to a geological map of Unova with the only key landmarks visible on the map being a pair of dots which read 'Chargestone cave' and 'Mistralton City'.
The implications of this app are amazing since who needs to fly when you have dream tunnelling.
I select the city and before my eyes the archway which didn't contain anything flickers to life as a portal of the pink fog appears. Knowing the deal, I enter and within a few steps, I've returned to the city.
Now it doesn't take long for me to traverse the city looking for a convenience store or hardware store mainly since with the giant airport dominating the city mechanical necessities such as tools or batteries would be common.
But one thing I wasn't expecting would be the amount of price gouging that takes place, I thought it would be a simple step in and buy a cheap battery, but it turns out the type of battery it takes to run the machine isn't in mass manufacture and is uncommon bordering on rare in quantity.
So, while they have them in stock, it is pricy, meaning with my meagre funds it's out of my capital to buy.
I tried to haggle with the clerk, but he just shook his head at me, so I left to look around for the same or equivalent battery for cheaper.
I started 2 hours ago and found out they are all similar in price, at least if I want to buy it I know where it is cheapest.
At the 3rd hour mark of looking, I finally got tired of the pointless endeavour then I remembered something, it's not the best solution but it's viable.
I use the gateway app to access the Entralink again before using the device to link to Chargestone Cave.
I step into the cave at a very familiar location and take out Himiko and the Dowsing machine.
[Hey, did you get the batary? Ooh I recognise this place, why are we back in my home?]
I sigh at her questions and respond, "Bad news, it turns out the Battery is just out of reach for us right now but if your willing to do a favour, when you stuck your head in the device before it was working.
I don't want to do it this way, but I can't think of another way, If you feel uncomfortable just tell me and I'll stop."
Hearing my request she pauses for a second before nodding, I release the flap and unlike before she floats facing away from the device before doing a shimmy dance into the battery recess.
Once she's fully in, the machine boots to life and immediately on the screen a pair of rods start shaking to indicate hidden treasure nearby.
It only takes a few minutes or so but after a while the device pinpoints a specific location, I simply look at the spot to try and find the item it is pointing at but the only thing I see is a rocky floor with sandy material around, I can't find anything solid, so I sigh.
Himiko picks on this and speaks, [Why you sad? Is the machine not working.]
"No, I think the machine is working but the thing is I can't see what it's pointing to, it's meant to point at stuff like thunder stones or dropped items from humans. That's my plan to make some money to just sell those things, but it might be pointing at something underground for all I know."
She's silent as I explain but with a curious tone, she asks. [What makes the machine point at these things?] I just respond with a shrug indicating I have no clue.
[Maybe the machine reacts to certain stuff because they have special effects like my moves. Maybe it can tell how deep as well so why not try and find the perfect spot to dig, we could ask a Drillbur in exchange for food.]
I hear her small brain at work, but the Drillbur bribe plan isn't bad, so I follow her suggestion to try and find the exact location of the item underground by hovering it over the ground like a metal detector.
It takes a moment of waving my hand around to find the spot, but I hear a 'Ding' from the machine, I remember the spot and start to put the device away, but I realise there are words on the screen of the device in a banner across the screen, I read its screen before starting to laugh.
'You have found Bright Powder'
hearing my laugh Himiko tilts from the machine and looks at me with a confused face. [What's wrong now?]
"Oh, nothing it's just I made a mistake, it turns out the device is working right, also it found the item."
At my words her face Lights, up in happiness and she does a small jig in the machine.
While she celebrated, I started to plan how to collect it since now that I knew it was the powder on the ground, I could tell it's actually a bit more sparkly than the rock floor of the cave, it was hard to tell the difference due to the dim lighting in the cave.
Using a small pouch, I have from the tent set-up I still had, I start to collect the powder as best as I can till I have enough for like 80% of the pouch.
I would fill the pouch with more but when I get to this point I get a sensation from it, it's similar to when I looked at Himiko's stats, so I focus on the pouch and it transmits information to my head.

well, that's useful so I don't have to try and remember everything, also when I finish collecting the item I hear the Dowsing machine stop indicating to this spot so I'm free to look for more stuff.
"let's go and find some more hidden treasures Himiko.", [Yeah!]
Me and Himiko start our spelunking adventure with gusto.
