Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Within weeks, their accounts were everywhere. TikTok, Instagram, Twitter—every platform saw their posts plastered across feeds. Followers came pouring in, drawn to the flashy cars, staged parties, and "hot takes" designed to provoke just enough outrage to go viral.

Alpha Omega was building an empire, one red pill soundbite at a time. And Kael, for better or worse, was now part of it.

Then, boom. When their viewer count skyrocketed to nothing less than 500,000 per post, the real game began. The group introduced their meme coin, weaving it seamlessly into their content. It was called LUXR. Limitless Utility X-Reserve.

At first, they made it genuinely profitable for early adopters. Not enough to create millionaires, but just enough for people to see tangible results—small profits that seemed easy to replicate.

The buzz spread like wildfire. Testimonials from "users" flooded the comments—many of them fake, crafted by AI-generated profiles. Videos showcased fake success stories, with screenshots of skyrocketing balances and exaggerated claims of financial freedom. Before long, people were hooked.

It wasn't just a few individuals buying in—it was a tidal wave. Picture over 100,000 people pouring in, each cashing in $100 or more every minute, chasing the dream of easy money. The LUXR's value soared, its graph an almost vertical climb.

Kael stood behind the scenes, watching the chaos unfold. His eyes widened as the live metrics updated on the dashboard.

"Damn," he muttered under his breath, unable to look away. The numbers were surreal.

' So much money, ' he thought, his palms sweating. ' And with a single touch, I could swipe it all away. ' he thought.

Kael turned his chair around and saw everyone sitting in their respective positions. His chair was in the middle, making it seem like he was the leader. He didn't question it and went it since he didn't mind.

' In a day. We'll be millionaires ' he thought as he smirked.

....

The day passed in a blur, and Kael finally dragged himself home, every muscle in his body aching. For the past two days, he'd been submerged in code—fixing every stubborn bug in the app, testing, retesting, barely eating, and barely sleeping. The moment he stepped through the front door, the only thing on his mind was collapsing onto his bed.

But just as he threw his backpack down, his phone buzzed. A text.

Amara: "Hey, meet me at the park near your place?"

Sleep vanished from his system like a bad line of code deleted with satisfaction. Without a second thought, he grabbed a hoodie and slipped out.

As he walked, a faint smile tugged at his lips. It had been a while since it was just the two of them. Amidst all the group meetings, shady schemes, and late-night planning, moments with Amara had become rare—almost nonexistent. And if he was honest, he missed her.

The sky above was heavy with charcoal clouds, the air thick with that earthy, pre-rain scent.

' It's gonna rain,' he thought, picking up the pace.' I should hurry.'

When he reached the park, he spotted her instantly. She was sitting alone on one of the weathered wooden benches, legs crossed, staring out at the trees like she was lost in thought. The wind tugged gently at her dark hair.

"Hey," he greeted, sliding onto the bench beside her.

She turned to him with that signature Amara smile—soft, yet unreadable. "Kael. How are you?"

"I'm good. Tired, but... you know," he said with a light chuckle. "What about you?"

"I'm okay," she replied, stretching her arms out briefly. "Kinda got this assignment due, but I'll finish it tonight. Or maybe tomorrow if I can bullshit it enough."

Kael laughed. "Sounds like college."

She smirked. "You'll find out soon enough."

Then she leaned back, casually, arms behind her head. "Honestly? I didn't call you out for anything serious. Just wanted to hang out with my favorite high school hacker. Is that so wrong?"

Kael smiled, a little flustered as her elbow nudged his arm. "No, I guess it isn't."

A soft silence fell between them, broken only by the distant rustling of trees and the chirping of a few persistent birds. Amara bit her lip and let out a long sigh.

"You know, Kael... I don't like what we do. The scams, the lies. It's not like I'm proud of it."

He looked at her. Her eyes weren't teasing now. They were softer. Real.

"Then why do it?" he asked quietly.

She hesitated, then whispered, "Don't tell anyone, but... my dad's in the hospital. It's been months now. And my mom works two jobs, but none of them pay enough. We're drowning in bills. I joined Alpha Omega because I had no choice."

Kael's expression softened. "I'm sorry... I didn't know."

"It's not just me," she continued. "Most of us have our reasons. Jay owes money to some real bad people. Nyra's tuition is insane. We're not evil—we're desperate."

He nodded slowly. "I get it. I wasn't tricked into joining. I've got my own reasons too. So... don't worry, I'm not backing out."

Amara smiled then—warm, radiant, and for once, entirely genuine. "Thanks, Kael. You really are... special to me."

He felt heat rush to his cheeks and quickly looked away, pretending to focus on a squirrel darting across the path.

Suddenly, he felt her hand on his lap.

His eyes widened as he turned toward her. She had leaned in, her lips barely a breath away. He could feel her warm breath on his skin. His heart thudded in his chest like it wanted to escape.

And just as their lips were about to touch—

CRACK!

The rain began to pour heavily.

"Shit," she muttered, retracting with a scowl. "Fucking rain."

Her voice had changed—no longer soft and emotional, but sharp, irritated. Kael barely noticed. His mind was still spinning, stuck in the moment that almost happened.

They bolted from the bench and sprinted toward the small jungle hut nestled deeper into the park, laughter and adrenaline mixed with the downpour as they sought cover.

Inside, the roof held, but water trickled down the sides. They were both soaked to the bone.

Kael turned to her—and his breath caught.

Amara's thin white top clung to her skin like second skin, outlining her curves in a way that felt both intimate and surreal. Her nipples were visibly erect, her bra offering little to no cover. She didn't seem to care. Or maybe she wanted him to see.

He forced himself to look away, cheeks burning.

But Amara noticed.

' Bloody virgin can't even handle seeing a pair,' she thought with a smirk. 'Should I tease him more?'

She stepped closer, just slightly—barely enough to be innocent, but close enough for tension to crackle between them.

"You alright, Kael?" she asked, voice low.

He gulped. "Y-Yeah."

' I need to calm myself down, I can't make her think I'm some nerd virgin, which I am honestly, but she doesn't have to know' he thought.
