It's finally our rest week, since the sports fest is just around the corner. My friends and I were bored when we saw Mae—she looked sad. We went to her and asked what happened. She explained everything about her boyfriend: where they met, how their first monthsary went, and how they've been together since Grade 7. She even said that her boyfriend once told her, "I wish I never met you." Of course, remembering that made her cry. We let her be, giving her space to let it all out.
The next day, it was announced that we needed to dance for the mass demo, which would take place after the sports fest. During practice, I talked to Mae about what happened after the breakup, and we ended up talking about a lot of different things—like how people were shipping her with others, and some things about her personal life too. I felt like I understood her more deeply after that.
She also told me something funny and a little embarrassing—that back then, when I almost laughed at her score, she actually blocked me. Yeaah… makes sense.
Despite all that, we became much closer friends. She even said to me and my friends, "When I became friends with you all, my life got much better." She said her relationship with her parents started to gradually improve too. "Because you were all a good influence to me," she added. My eyes went wide—I blushed, and I swear, I felt butterflies in my stomach.
After practice, we went to the classroom to rest. Mae chatted with her other friends, and soon enough, they also became my friends. We even made a group chat on Messenger.
I got to meet her circle—there was one boy who was really nice, and honestly, the complete opposite of me. He's calm, never gets angry, and is super chill. Most of the others were girls. Two of them were actually my classmates back in elementary.
There's Chelly—she loves reading books, dancing, and singing. She wears glasses and is always so calm and composed. Then there's Jonel—she plays guitar, once won a beauty contest, and has long hair. She's often picked to play the mom in roleplays.
One lazy afternoon, we were all resting. Mae was chatting with her friends, and they started talking about blood types. Then she turned to me and asked, "What's your type?" (talking about blood type, of course).
And without thinking, I accidentally said, "You."
To be continued…
