Chapter 9 - The Crownless Return

The Eastern Sky fractured.

From the far reaches of the Kingdom of Kareth, the archmages fell to their knees. Not out of reverence… but terror.

"The Devourer's mark has reignited."

Those words echoed across the halls of the Obsidian Spire, the highest tower of arcane records. Each wizard turned pale. Tomes snapped shut on their own. Sigils burst into flame.

In the deepest vault, behind layers of dimensional seals, a locked throne room shuddered. Inside, a sealed sarcophagus twitched.

[Sovereign Seal: Cracking. Estimated time: 23 days.][Warning: Null Protocol no longer effective.]

Meanwhile – In the Kingdom of Arvheil

King Thalanor stared into the heavens, his golden eyes dull with age. But tonight, something sharp glinted behind them. The moon had blinked.

"So... the Hollow One stirs."

Beside him, his high priest dropped to his knees.

"My liege, we must prepare the Sovereign Offering. If he awakens—"

"If?" Thalanor turned. "No. He already has."

He pointed toward the sky.

"Look at the stars. They're out of place.""They're afraid."

Far Away – In the Maw Cult's Inner Sanctum

Inside a forgotten temple carved into the bones of a fallen Behemoth, a masked woman screamed in pleasure and pain.

The Void was singing again.

"Our Father feeds once more."

Around her, worshippers wept.

They had sacrificed generations waiting for His Return, and now… the signs were all too clear.

A sky that flickered.A city swallowed whole.A Sovereign sigil reappearing after ten thousand years of dormancy.

They gathered at the altar and spilled their own blood, crying out:

"Long live the Hollow Sovereign!"

And In the Depths of the Black Star Prison

A chained prisoner opened one eye.

A single horn poked through his skull. Black scales shimmered beneath his cloak.

"He dares return…?"

The prisoner chuckled.

"Good. Let's see which one of us devours the other this time, brother."

The chains snapped.

Back to Null – Floating Above the Ruins

Null stared down at the world now bathed in starlight.

Something had changed.

His hunger was louder, deeper—but so was his clarity. Echoes of lives he never lived flickered in the corner of his vision.

And far across the world, somewhere… a presence answered.

A rival. Maybe more.

He grinned.

"Let them come."
