Outside of a police station, a pale young man, with back hair was sitting on a bench, looking at a picture of a little girl with his grey eyes full of sorrow, the girl in the picture was no older than five and she had the same features as him, with the same grey eyes, and the same black hair, she was his sister.
"I think i should visit her." the young man said, debating whether to go see his sister or enter the police station.
Either way he was going to die.
If he goes in he'll die miserable death but he would have the chance to stay alive, not like someone like him would survive but it's a possibility. If he leaves he would get the chance to meet his sister and die a painless death.
After a while of endless debating, he ultimately decided on entering the station and fighting back his unescapeable fate. Opening the door of the station, he looked inside only to be met by a tried looking officer, other than the angry officer and the claw mark on the walls, the station was clean and organized, not at all like he expected a police station to be like.
'This is clean, too clean for a police station.'
Just as he finished that thought, a tired and angry voice called out for him.
"Hey kid, someone just died in his trial, so this ain't the best place to be." the person behind the voice said, it was the same tired looking officer he saw after entering, now that he took a good look at him, he noticed that the officer had a strange blue liquid all over his face and his uniform. It was blood, gate beast blood to be exact.
"I am here because of this." the young man said turning his back to the officer and point at it.
On his back there was grey marking extending along his spine. These marking were called Gate keys used to open the Gates. These "Gates" where a strange phenomenon that started occurring about twenty years ago, in the same time period the Gate keys started appearing on people ,these people had Gates following them around, they had two options, option one: enter the gate and attend a trial, In the trial they gain powers if they pass they keep it, if they die...well lets not talk about that. Option two: die.
The police officer looked at him looking more tried than before, he simply took a pen and paper and asked:
"I need your name, age, and how long did you have the key?"
"My name is Rain, I am fifteen years old, and had the key for a month." Rain said answering all his questions.
"Come with me."

Sitting in a white room, Rain was waiting for the heads up to enter the Gate, looking around he noticed that there were two Gates already open this meant that there were two other people in their trial.
Suddenly a voice said to him.
"You may now enter your trial."
With a sigh he uttered two words that would change his life for better or worse.
"Gate open."
As soon as he said that a Gate appeared behind him and swallowed him whole, he was now surrounded by a dark void from all sides, he was between the Human realm and the Gate realm. After a few seconds the voice of the Gate called out to him:
[Human! Welcome to realm between realms.]
[Would you like to see your ruin?]
"Yes." Rain answered.
Name: Rain.
Rank: Human.
Key name: Unearned.
Path: Undetermined.
Trophies: Zero.
Role: Heir of shadows.
Gate: 1-Shadow helper.
2-Locked.
3-Locked.
4-Locked.
5-Locked.
6-Locked.
Not recognizing the "Role" ruin he focused on it to see the discretion, it said:
Heir of shadows: The previous shadow archon looked in to your future and recognized your talent, he chose you as one of his six heirs, normally he would watch over you all and choose ,but he is dead, so you all have to fight for the throne.
