Chapter 27 - Chapter 0027 - Mutation of Plants and Trees

The speed at which everything was increasing now—compared to before—was like the difference between a snail and a speeding train. The rate of growth was simply insane. Even ordinary people could feel that the air around them had become extraordinarily fresh and invigorating. Breathing was now far smoother and more pleasant than ever before.

Whoosh!

A flash of light appeared in Yi Tianxing's hand as the Wordless Heavenly Tome emerged from the Spirit Pearl space. He swiftly opened the tome.

Inside, lines of glowing text flashed across the pages.

"On the third day, the Primordial Energy Vortex emerges, gushing boundless Heaven and Earth energy. Vital energy awakens; all things compete for freedom beneath the frost-covered sky."

Only this single, concise sentence appeared in the Heavenly Tome.

"The Primordial Energy Vortex... So that's what we saw in the sky. The entire world's energy is starting to recover at a terrifying pace. With this revival, countless cultivators will likely emerge. That will make it much easier to fight off those monsters," said Chen Xuerou, her eyes flashing with wonder as she saw the Wordless Heavenly Tome appear in Yi Tianxing's hands. Though she didn't pry, a glint of curiosity sparkled in her gaze. As she read the words on the tome, shock flickered across her face.

"This has to be a good thing. With the Primordial Energy Vortex out, the energy of Heaven and Earth is increasing rapidly. Our cultivation speed will definitely skyrocket compared to before," Zhao Ziyan added, full of anticipation. She had already begun to feel the wonder of cultivating.

Before the Cataclysm, it had been the end of the Dharma era. The world simply wasn't suited for cultivation. Even those who had access to cultivation techniques couldn't progress—they couldn't sense the world's energy at all. Many sects had declined, some even disappearing completely into history.

Now that Heaven and Earth energy was recovering, being born in this era was both a curse and a blessing.

"Don't be so optimistic," said Tang Zitong, her voice serious. "The changes happening in the world are unpredictable. No one knows what kind of disaster the Energy Vortex might bring." The events of the past two days had already made her realize—this wasn't a game. It was a real catastrophe. One beyond anyone's imagination.

ROAR!AWOOOO!RUMBLE!!

As the Primordial Energy Vortex appeared, the city was suddenly filled with howls, roars, and the sound of stampeding monsters in the darkness. The ground trembled as hordes of creatures frantically rushed toward the vortex's location.

Many monsters were trampled to death along the way, or slain by stronger beasts.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A giant over ten meters tall charged forward, shaking buildings with each massive step. Towers swayed and even collapsed in its wake. Countless monsters were crushed underfoot. The stench of blood filled the air.

In the skies above, flocks of fierce birds surged like dark clouds, all flying toward the vortex.

Clearly, these monsters sensed the immense benefits contained within the vortex's energy. Drawn by instinct and survival, the stronger they were, the more desperate they became to reach it.

Yi Tianxing's expression darkened as he watched the wave of monsters stampeding through the darkness. He had originally wanted to get close to one of the vortices, thinking it could boost his cultivation immensely. But now it was clear—there was no way humans could make it there. Anyone who tried would be torn to pieces by the monsters. There wasn't even a sliver of hope.

"With monsters swarming the streets, heading outside is suicide. But the vortex is pouring out energy everywhere. This is the perfect time to cultivate. Even if we can't go near it, we can still benefit a lot by staying indoors," Yi Tianxing concluded after a brief pause.

Going outside was clearly too dangerous. But staying in and cultivating while the world was being bathed in energy would surely yield rapid progress and incredible benefits.

"Yeah, we can't miss out on a chance like this!" Zhao Ziyan said excitedly.

Without hesitation, all four of them took out their respective Willpower Orbs and sat down to cultivate.

"This rate of absorbing Heaven and Earth energy... It's insane! At least ten, no—hundreds of times faster than before! This must be the power of the Energy Vortex. And we're not even near it! If we were close... our cultivation would skyrocket in no time," Yi Tianxing thought as he resumed his visualization of the Four Seas Ancestral Dragon Diagram.

Within his divine sea, a vast Ancestral Dragon coiled, swallowing the surrounding energy. With each breath, a torrent of energy surged into his body through his navel, instantly absorbed and refined into strands of true dragon qi. Meanwhile, the Willpower Orb in his mouth melted rapidly. Every thread of willpower was easily transformed into the purest dragon qi with minimal effort.

But what exactly was visualization?

It was manifesting the Four Seas Ancestral Dragon Diagram with his will. The Ancestral Dragon became a projection of his consciousness. Through it, he absorbed energy and willpower, refining them into his own power—dragon qi marked with his unique essence. Even if the energy was used up, he could simply recover by absorbing more. This was real, tangible cultivation.

He could clearly feel the dragon qi in his divine sea growing steadily. Unconsciously, he became immersed in the wondrous flow of cultivation...

Meanwhile, as the Energy Vortex spewed a constant stream of energy into the world, all living things across the planet began to undergo astonishing transformations.

In gardens everywhere, plants that had been nearly frozen to death suddenly sprang to life as if injected with growth hormones. Blades of grass grew wildly, reaching waist height in seconds. Trees shot up several meters in the blink of an eye, shedding and regrowing leaves faster than the eye could follow.

Everywhere, plants mutated into towering, monstrous forms.

Vegetation spread rapidly, vines climbing buildings and wrapping around lampposts. Creepers like ivy climbed walls with astonishing speed, turning the once-steely city into what looked like a dense jungle. A green aura seemed to fill the air.

Outside the city, forests expanded rapidly.

Trees turned into colossal giants, while thick vines twisted up their trunks. Even animals in the mountains were changing—some began to grow larger; even tiny insects ballooned in size.

Ordinary ants became huge and terrifying. Swarming together, they overwhelmed wild boars, reducing them to gleaming white bones in minutes.

Flowers bloomed with strange fragrances that killed nearby animals instantly.

Some brightly colored plants grew serrated petals. When animals passed by, the flowers would snap shut, devouring them and glowing blood-red. Many plants and animals began to mutate in terrifying ways.

These were the results of the massive surge in Heaven and Earth energy.

Every creature and plant carried some trace of ancient bloodlines. Under the stimulation of this energy, those bloodlines began to awaken, unleashing monstrous traits long dormant.

All of them were breaking past their natural limits.

The rate of evolution was not just tenfold, but hundreds of times faster than before.

The world was changing faster than anyone could comprehend.

In one case, a bonsai on a balcony grew wildly and released toxic gas that silently killed an entire family.

Elsewhere, vines crept into a bedroom and dragged away a sleeping couple, devouring them.

All kinds of strange and horrifying incidents were occurring.

With the energy awakening, anything—no matter how bizarre—had now become possible.

Inside Yi Tianxing's home, numerous potted plants stood in the living room and on the balcony.

There were cacti, miniature palms, peace lilies, pothos, and lucky bamboo—common, easy-to-grow plants.

But now, all of them were growing like mad—and mutating.

The cactus's spines gleamed with a cold, dangerous sheen. Though the plant hadn't grown larger, the spikes had become much denser, sharper, and a more vibrant green.

The palm had expanded drastically. The peace lily was even more bizarre. Stimulated by the energy, it had grown to two or three meters tall, nearly touching the ceiling. Its flowers looked like snowy white hands, more vivid and lifelike than ever before—glowing like jade, complete with palm lines. Dozens, if not hundreds, of hand-shaped blossoms bloomed like a ghostly forest of open palms.

The pothos, a vine-type plant, exploded with growth, stretching across the living room like green snakes, swaying as if alive.

Even the lucky bamboo was growing taller and taller, bright green and seemingly thriving.

In the darkness, one of the pothos vines silently slithered toward Yi Tianxing.

"What is that?"

Still immersed in cultivation, Yi Tianxing suddenly sensed a wave of danger creeping in. Startled, he stopped cultivating and opened his eyes—only to see a vine reaching toward him like a snake.

The sight was so sudden and shocking that even Yi Tianxing, with his strong mental fortitude, was momentarily stunned.

But his reaction was lightning-fast.

In a flash, a black-and-white Yin-Yang Lock burst from his eyes. He grabbed it like a whip and lashed out at the vine without hesitation.

Snap!!

The blow struck the vine hard, slamming it to the ground. A layer of frost instantly formed on the surface where the whip landed.
