Chapter 2 - Start

"Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck." Issac wailed.

He was kneeling on the ground with a pitiful expression on his face. Not only that he could feel other people's gazes on him.

His pathetic cries had been witnessed by numerous people. The sheer embarrassment caused him to freeze in place.

Issac wanted to run away and dig a hole for himself so that he'd never have to wake up from this hell.

But eventually, a tap on the shoulder caused him to awake from his stir.

"You're blocking the road, get up." Someone informed.

An irrational rage filled Isaacs as he lashed out at the person who tapped him on the shoulder.

"Can't you see I'm a little fuc-" Isaac growled.

In front of him stood what he could only perceive as a guard holding a spear.

"Ah wait no, I'll move sir." He quickly retracted.

The guard gave him a nasty look but thankfully he let him go with nothing else but a verbal warning.

Issac needed to calm down, he knew that. But he couldn't help but want to cry into a bloody mess.

He took the time to finally look up and see that he was standing in the middle of a commercial district.

The architecture was reminiscent of ancient China and the people themselves looked to be of Asian descent.

Most wore simple robes made of fabric, but he could see some in the crowd wearing fancier silk clothing.

He was fitted with simple clothing made of cheap fabric. It was both comfortable and humble.

He had to think and use his brain instead of just irrational emotion.

It was then that the simplest of ideas popped into his mind.

He needed to find a cultivation sect and work his way up from there. Even if he didn't have any talent he could at least live in mediocrity.

Issac had no grand dreams of reaching the top of the cultivation world. Despite his quite obvious trolling, he was well aware of just how difficult it was to reach the pinnacle.

It was for that reason alone that many new cultivation novels always relied on a cheat ability like a system to make the process faster.

Issac though had no such thing. He would be content if he could even step a layer into cultivating.

After running a fair distance from where people had witnessed his cries he went up to the nearest store to ask them about the nearest sect.

"Oh, so you're here for that huh. I'm sorry to tell you but you've missed it by a hair's breadth. Yesterday was the last day the spiritual sword sect was taking new disciplines." The owner replied.

"Are there any other sects nearby? What about them?" Issac urged.

"The closest sect is probably a good 230 Li(115 km or 72 miles) east, but I wouldn't suggest you go anywhere near them. Awful rumors from their disciplines." The owner answered.

"So what about the spiritual sword sect, when's their next recruitment date?" Issac asked.

"Ah, I'm sorry son. They only accept fresh blood every 4 years." The owner shook his head.

"Thanks for the info." Issac sighed.

One day, exactly one day, how was it that fate was so cruel to miss it by just one day, Issac thought.

No, it was simply too inconvenient, Issac felt it had something to do with that handler.

But at the same time, he couldn't do anything. He was just a mortal while that guy was basically a god.

Fate was a cruel mistress. If others were in Issac's shoes perhaps they would've felt a burning rage and obsession to get revenge.

But Issac didn't have high expectations for what he could achieve. Perhaps he could live as a mortal peasant in the countryside.

It was a logical choice and yet his heart ached at the thought. He had read and delved into countless cultivation novels.

If he didn't at least try to enter the world of cultivation he'd regret it forever.

Needing information again, he approached the owner of the simple shop again for info.

"There's an airship that goes from here to the Absolute Strength sect's home city." The owner advised.

"The ride isn't free is it?" Issac asked.

The owner sighed at the juniors' outstanding ignorance. But at the same time he felt bad for the kid.

"If you're out of cash, I've got a friend who could use some extra hands. Are you strong enough to lug around some sacks?" He asked.

Issac looked down at his skinny arms which hadn't touched a single weight his entire life.

"Yeah. I can do it." He lied.

"Good. It's still pretty early in the morning, so even though you'll be a little late if you tell him Lu Gao sent you, you'll get a day's worth of pay." Lu informed.

Issac thanked Lu before making his way to the area where the job was located.

After a few confusing turns and asking people for directions he finally reached a loading dock for flying ships.

There stood platforms the size of entire houses that served only the purpose of docking flying ships.

They looked exactly like a ship made to sail on the ocean but instead of floating on water, they were littered with arrays and formations that allowed them to lift into the air.

In the distance he saw a group of people going in and out of a docked ship in order to offload packed ships.

"Excuse me, is this the unloading job?" Issac asked respectfully.

"Yeah, but you're a little late to it. Get your ass moving or get out." The organizer stated.

Without hesitation, Issac moved towards the docked ship and chose the lightest of shipments to unload.

It was a small start, but the once lethargic Issac was making his first baby steps to becoming something more.
