Sarah sighed, her eyes softening with concern as she looked at Stella.
"It really hurt, didn't it?" she said quietly. Then, with a small smirk, she added, "But girlfriend, I've got to say—makeup? I didn't know you were that good. I was totally looking like a man that day!"
Stella chuckled under her breath.
"All that effort just to make him jealous," Sarah continued. "Honestly, I wanted to suggest you hire a guy to play the part. But when I saw how broken you looked, I couldn't say no. I didn't want to let you down."
"Well," Stella said, cutting in gently, "I could've hired someone, like you said. But at that time, I wasn't in the right place mentally. The last thing I needed was a fake boyfriend breathing down my neck while I was still trying to breathe myself."
Sarah nodded slowly, understanding.
"But hey," Stella added, a sly smile forming, "the fun part? He was jealous. So, mission accomplished."
"Yeah, after making me dress like a guy!" Sarah said, feigning offense.
