Chapter 5 - Shi Dimension

She was standing on a high dune in the middle of a vast desert of black sand. There was no sun, no hot, no cool. There was just darkness. She looked out over the vastness of it and knew that all she saw was hers. She knew she could not get to it yet but that it was opening itself up to her. Reminding her that it was here waiting.

For now she could only come here in her dreams but even then it would give her what she needed and now she needed energy, strength, and knowledge. She ran forward and dove down from the dune. An inky black pool of shadow opened to swallow her before she ever hit any sand.

Once it swallowed her it immediately closed.

Yana sat straight up and instantly remembered where she was and where she had just been. She made note of everything.

Her last name was Pallindrone, and she did not know this because of the system. She knew this because she knew, she remembered. That visit to her domain, with a dip into pure shadow thought, gave her some of her memories back. She now knew that she was from a place called Shor and it was in Sho, a Shadow dimension the cosmos of Pa. She was born a shadow of a Sho shadow and a Wao shadow. Making something indescribable because shadows just came to be or they were created. But they were never born of the union of shadows.

So to other sentient shadow, even her parents, she was an anomaly that actually never should have existed and therefore did not exist.

She took stock of her spellwork within her spell weave. She had more barriers, wards and a movement spell.

She stood. Her shadow covering naturally rippling to adjust itself over her body. She used Shadow manipulate to tighten it and make it lie smoothly. She used shadow control to teach the shadows how she wanted them to behave.

"Let's go. I am very ready to be outside this place." They all understood this tone of voice. She had come back to them a bit. She was regaining her memories. They all suddenly felt a bit safer in that moment. When she was fully Yana nothing and no one could harm them. That was why they had all chosen to be with her.

She shadow stepped everyone to the dimensional door in one step. She brought them to where her discernment said they would be safe. The door was closed but there were void beast aimlessly milling about or just standing around but all of then were watching the door. She thought for a moment.

Then she wove a repellent ward into a tight ball and tossed it to the tightly clustered entities. In its downward arc the weave released the core of its spell into the midst of the group. Purple-black magic arced across the group hitting each member and they all stampeded away. The magic continued and hit the ground and spread outwards 200 meters from the dimensional door. This caused those who were not hit to also quickly depart from the area.

Yana was at the arch that held the dimensional door as soon as the void beast began to scatter. She was a bit more sensitive now and she could actually see the shimmer of the inactive dimensional door.

"We're leaving." Protective spells and wards wove around them then wove together and formed a brilliant tapestry of magic around them that then faded from view. She used Jasmine's dimensional walk and Tasha's shadow dimensional walk and her dimensional step and shadow step to boost her dimensional door then she used her discernment and seer abilities to guide her.

In less than a few seconds she saw the dimensional door opening.

"Now!"

As soon as the clear liquid pool flowed out from a center point within the arch to fill it completely the entire group was through and on the other side.

Yana read the new task stunned. She would be punished if she didn't take on the task? Her memory shades? What was that? Her discernment told her that she needed these memory shades.

As she thought about it. She called shadows to her and manipulated them to build a better protection suit around her. The light was so intense here that it was actually burrowing in.

I will take the mission.

She joined the others. "We are in Shi."

Yana nodded. "It is in the inner ring with Sho." She looked at everyone. "My memory is not completely back but I do know that we have been together for a long while, and I know we were mercenaries. I have to focus on finding my memory shades so it is probably better if we just split now. I know I am breaking…"

"What are you talking about? We are going with you."

"I should have thought about your memory shades. As much memory as you have lost you must have hundreds or even thousands of memory shades out there. You need our help." Starlight had gone from face-palming to nodded excessively.

DD stretched and walked to her looking her over. "Of course we are going to go with you. You do not remember illusion magics? You don't really look like a Shadow but your grey skin is a bit off putting. You know how jumpy people are in the light dimensions."

"I didn't even notice that you didn't have your illusions up. Pull from my (Star Void) in the light dimensions it is (Illusion) magic. She wove a spell to create a reflective surface and she looked at herself for what seemed like the first time.

She had long blue straight hair, black eyes, and light grey skin. It all looked to normal to her even as she pulled Starlight's (Star Void) magic and used her (Illusion) magics to change her hair to Dark brown, her eyes light brown, and her skin a sun-kissed tan.

"Perfect. You did well. But change your nose too. Just a little bit more narrow."

Yana frowned at Tasha. "My nose is fine. Does anyone know where Shi connects with a Shadow dimension?"

All of them, except for Starlight and Jasmine transformed into human forms.

"We may need to mingle a bit." Amber shrugged as she responded to Yana's confusion. "I know where Shi meets Orb but not Sho."

"Mm. I know where it meets Lem."

Yana looked at DD. "I feel that some of my memory shades are there. We will go to Lem first. I am not excited about heading home anyway."
