Damien had started staying at the office more to stay away from her nagging. Maybe if she didn't see him, she wouldn't be so angry he thought to himself.
This had only made things worse because she started thinking he was cheating. She even reported him to his grandfather that he was cheating.
If she had thought it would change him, it had only made him stay away from home more.
Even when she tried to commit suicide, it had seemed she was only being dramatic to him.
He sneered at her and his expression grew colder.
"condition? I was beginning to wonder if you had changed to someone else. But you are still the selfish woman I married. You only care about money and status, so how much do you want?"
Joy looked at him, matching his cold expression with hers.
"I will divorce you but only after my memory comes back. I don't remember anything, what if you force me to accept things I didn't even do. I will give you a year, if my memories don't come back, I will divorce you, I won't even ask for a pin."
Damien scoffed,"one year, in your dreams? Four months"
"eight months" Joy countered.
"Five months"
"six months, final offer" Joy said.
"deal, six months" he agreed.
Joy regretted making the deal because she wasn't even sure if the memories of the previous Joy would return.
If she divorced him without getting a thing in return, how would she survive?
But she couldn't back down, she had her pride to protect.
She calmed down and looked into his eyes with confidence.
Damien was wondering if she had lost her mind or her memories.
But she was his wife just in name and he wouldn't be so wicked to cast her out without her memories.
"Just six months" he reminded her.
"Just six months" she agreed.
He looked at her in amusement, she was different from the wife he knew.
Had his wife really changed?
Anyways this six months would be quite interesting.
When Damien left the room, he met with the doctors to know more about his wife's condition.
They confirmed that she had amnesia because she had been in a coma for the past two months.
They told him her memories would come back soon as long as she got proper rest and she should not be stressed out at all.
Damien thought to himself that Joy had lost her memories. But she was different from the Joy that she knew.
She seemed charming.
Damien pinched himself hard, was he mad? How could he find his nemesis of a wife charming?
After some days, Joy was discharged. During this time, she had asked Nina about everything she needed to know about the previous Joy.
She had understood the relationship between she and Damien. She had married Damien because of her grandfather's last wish.
But he had never loved her, they were like strangers sharing a house. They even had different bedrooms.
Nina told her about her family. Especially her relationship with her mother, Rosaline Reynolds.
Their relationship has become sour when she had married her ex boyfriend and brought him and his daughter home after her father died.
The age difference between Joy and his daughter was a year, combined with the resemblance and the fact that her father had gone on a long business trip not soon after she was born.
It angered Joy that her mother cheated on her father. She even had the guts to bring him and her illicit daughter home.
After her father died, she forged the inheritance and transferred all Joy's father had left her to her name.
Joy had later got to know she had married her father just for his inheritance and property.
Only her paternal grandfather loved her, he had been the one to arrange her marriage to Damien with his friend, Mr Wellington, Damien's grandfather.
After she knew all this, Joy pitied the previous Joy especially after facing all this betrayal from her family, she must have been a mess.
Nina told her that Joy went abroad when she was thirteen, she had spent eight years there alone.
Joy felt the previous Joy must have felt so lonely there.
After hearing Nina's words, Joy felt that the previous Joy may not have been as bad as everyone thought.
She was just a poor girl who had lost her father at a young age. Her mother had cheated on her father during the entire marriage and had also brought a daughter almost the same age as her home.
And she had the guts to think she would accept it and stay happily in the house.
Her relationship with her mother was distant.
.....
When Joy left the hospital, she noticed a strange carriage made from some kind of iron.
She wondered what it was.
Nina gave their luggage to the driver and went to Joy who was still confused and standing in a daze.
She tapped her gently, "Miss Joy, we should go, master has sent a car for us, and look at the weather, it's about to rain"
The weather was cold and the sky was getting dark.
Joy looked at Nina and asked while pointing at the car. "What is that?"
Nina was confused, was the amnesia this bad?
"Miss Joy, this is a car, we should sit in it, it will take us to the Wellington mansion where you stay"
Nina was already getting used to long explanations after Joy had asked her to explain every small little thing.
Joy didn't understand what a car was and how it worked.
But since Nina trusted it, she would trust it too.
She shrugged and entered the car.
Joy looked at the car in wonder. The car was spacious and the interior was designed beautifully.
Joy was startled when the car started moving.
She clutched Ninavs hand tightly. "It's moving very fast, I feel faint, make it stop" she yelled.
The driver who was driving at a high speed was surprised to see her over dramatic reaction.
