Chapter 20 Al Pacino
At the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard, Steven Reuther and Aaron Anderson met the returning Al Pacino.
"The script of Pretty Woman is too stupid for me. Will anyone really like this kind of story?"
Al Pacino has performed in stage plays on Broadway in New York for four years. This time he made a formal comeback mainly for The Godfather 3.
He was not optimistic about the script of Pretty Woman.
"Are you really not going to consider it again?" Steven Reuther did not expect the other party to say that.
Al Pacino shook his head, "This role is not suitable for me, Steven!"
"Mr. Pacino," Aaron Anderson, who had been sitting silently, spoke up, immediately attracting the attention of the two.
Facing Al Pacino's gaze, Steven Reuther explained, "He is Aaron Anderson, a young agent from CAA. It was he who convinced Jeffrey Katzenberg to make Pretty Woman."
Al Pacino nodded. He originally thought that he was Steven Reuther's assistant.
"Oh, what do you want to say?"
Aaron looked at him. "Mr. Pacino wants to work with Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman in "Dick Tracy"? "
"If a movie can be successful just by piling up a few stars, then CAA should have become a movie temple long ago!"
"Are you not optimistic about "Dick Tracy"? "
Aaron smiled. "The success of "Rain Man" is not so easy to replicate. More than half of the box office revenue is due to Tom Cruise;"
"Mr. Pacino was going to star in the gangster sequel "The Godfather 3", so why did he join a gangster movie to play an insignificant supporting role?"
"The success of a movie is nothing more than box office or awards. Will the box office of "Pretty Woman" really be worse than that of "Dick Tracy"? "
Al Pacino smiled, and Steven Reuther on the side took the opportunity to talk about Aaron Anderson's deeds at the Cannes Film Festival.
"Are you optimistic about "Pretty Woman"?"
Aaron nodded, "If I had millions or tens of millions of dollars, I would invest in it myself!"
"Unfortunately, everyone says they are optimistic about the works they are involved in." Al Pacino will not be persuaded so easily.
Aaron sighed, "Mr. Pacino, you should listen to other people's opinions. Your agent also suggested that you star in this movie;"
"Mr. Pacino has just made a comeback. There is no need to join a crew full of big names. Isn't it good to join a small crew to prove yourself?"
After Al Pacino starred in "The Godfather", he was extremely popular, but his vision for selecting films was really poor;
"Star Wars", "Taxi Driver", "Raging Bull", and "Once Upon a Time in America" were all his first choices, but unfortunately, he missed them all.
"Aaron Anderson, right?"
Al Pacino looked at him. "Your strength should be art films. Do you know these commercial films?"
Aaron was not at all nervous and spread his hands. "My qualifications are too shallow. I can only discover newcomers and new directors' works. How can I make commercial films?"
"My strength is in the commercial field. What Mr. Pacino should do most now is to increase his influence. Then he will not lack good scripts. "
"If "Pretty Woman" is a success, it will be Mr. Pacino's masterpiece. But if "Dick Tracy" is a success, it will also be Warren Beatty's representative work and credit!"
"Haha," Al Pacino laughed.
"You are undermining Mr. Ovitz, the head of CAA."
Aaron glanced at Steven Reuther and said casually, "When the movie is released next year, he will be happy to give me a bonus;"
"Dick Tracy will be the same with or without Mr. Pacino, but with Mr. Pacino joining Pretty Woman, success is not far away..."
With the arrival of late May, good news finally came. Al Pacino signed a contract with the crew of Pretty Woman to play the leading role in the movie;
Aaron, who had been paying attention to the progress of the movie, was relieved.
CAA headquarters building.
Aaron got another script from Quentin Tarantino, "Natural Born Killers", and just gave it to the editorial department for proofreading.
When he came out, he met Richard Lovett again. "Aaron, you have made a great contribution to Julia Roberts being able to play opposite Al Pacino!"
Now, the male and female protagonists of Pretty Woman are Al Pacino and Julia Roberts;
Richard Lovett, as Julia Roberts' agent, seemed very happy.
"It's OK, congratulations to you," Aaron nodded to the other party. The supporting role could be given to Nicole Kidman, but Aaron thought it was unnecessary!
Richard Lovett smiled and said, "I heard that you don't think much of Dick Tracy. Mr. Warren Beatty is a little unhappy."
Although Aaron did not belittle Dick Tracy when persuading Al Pacino, it was not good to let Al Pacino, who was interested, withdraw.
Aaron shook his head, not knowing what was going on with this gloating tone?
They were all new people at CAA. Isn't it a waste of time to focus on such trivial matters?
"Okay, let's go first," Aaron really didn't have the mood to talk too much with these minor characters, he was going to meet Adam Sandler!
After leaving CAA, Aaron just entered his own Rooster and was about to go home first, but he received a call from the assistant of director Tony Scott.
"Mr. Scott, do you like the script of "Fatal Romance"? "
"Okay, I will take the screenwriter to visit Mr. Scott when the time comes!"
After hanging up the phone, Aaron smiled. Quentin Tarantino's script was liked, quite quickly.
Tony Scott is the director of "Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise, and his brother is amazing, the famous Ridley Scott!
In the evening, after Aaron met with Adam Sandler, he signed an agency contract with him the next day.
However, Adam Sandler was a client of agent Ari Emanuel before, and after he left CAA, he terminated his contract with the Saturday Night Live production team;
now, Aaron wants Adam Sandler to join Saturday Night Live again. After all, this show is really a good way to train people!
"Don't worry, Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live, is very optimistic about you. You can write and act, so signing a contract is not a problem."
Outside the CAA building, Aaron Anderson patted Adam Sandler on the shoulder.
Adam Sandler nodded and showed a sad face, "But Mr. Ari Emanuel is a little unhappy that I will not renew my contract this time!"
Aaron didn't care, "ITA can live a stable life. Ari Emanuel and other agents will definitely leave. Do you still expect these guys to live and die with ITA?"
You are all Jews. Do you care about anything else besides interests? Isn't Adam Sandler in front of you a good example?
Abandon Ari Emanuel immediately!
