The fireflies, their golden lights flickering like tiny lanterns, were breathtaking. But the night and nature were far from over—the true beauty was only just beginning to unfold. The rare event, meant to take place by morning, had already started to reveal itself in the night.
As the fireflies continued their delicate dance, a new spectacle took shape in the sky. A distant rustling, like the whisper of the wind, grew louder. Then, suddenly—a murmuration of starlings.
Thousands of birds rose, moving as one, painting shifting patterns against the moonlit sky. Their synchronized flight twisted and swirled, like ink dispersing in water, forming breathtaking shapes that vanished in an instant, only to be replaced by new ones.
The group stood in awe, watching the sky come alive. First, the glittering stars had brightened the night sky. Then, the fireflies had lit up the darkness like floating embers. And now, the starlings turned the heavens into a living masterpiece.
Nature's grand performance unfolded all at once. Shocked, surprised, yet utterly mesmerized, they stood still, taking in the moment.
"The rare event—the migration of thousands of starlings flying across the sky—was an ideal spectacle typically reserved for daylight. But it unfolded unexpectedly in the midst of billions of silver stars and hundreds of golden fireflies, creating a breathtaking scene of nature's wonders combined."
This was the moment they had all journeyed to witness at dawn. Yet, as it unfolded unexpectedly before them, no one questioned why it was happening now.
Instead, they let themselves be captivated, lost in the beauty before their very eyes. A sight too breathtaking to doubt, too perfect to question.
Soon, the thousands of birds and hundreds of fireflies faded into the darkness, vanishing as if they had never been there.
The group, thinking the moment was short-lived, still found it undeniably worth the journey.
As they gazed at the remaining silver stars shining above, Sam found himself deep in thought.
They had struggled and traveled all this way just for this fleeting moment. And while it was incredible—undeniably worth seeing—he couldn't help but wonder.
Was it really necessary to chase after beauty when it had always been there? The stars had always been glittering, always brightening the sky.
Maybe, in their search for rare moments of happiness, they had overlooked the quiet, ever-present joy that surrounded them every day.
They spent the rest of the night enjoying their meals and sharing stories, challenging each other to stay up all night to watch the sunrise together.
One by one, however, they drifted off to sleep. The fire had burned out, and the dark, starry sky was slowly fading into a deep blue. Only a little time remained before sunrise.
Not a single person was awake, and it seemed like they were going to miss the moment they had all been waiting for.
But could I, as the author, really let them miss such a moment?
Just then, a cold drop of water landed on Sam's face. He groaned, shifting slightly, but as more droplets followed, his eyes fluttered open. Blinking in confusion, he sat up and realized—
It was gonna raining.
Panicking, he glanced around at his sleeping friends, knowing they had to wake up now or they're getting soaked.
"Hey—wake up!" Sam shook the nearest person—OH NO—who grumbled and smacked his hand away, rolling over.
Sam tried again. "It's raining! Get up!"
Still no response.
Then, as if nature had been waiting for the right comedic timing—the drizzle turned into a full downpour.
Chaos. Absolute chaos.
Jangla woke up screaming, convinced she was drowning.
Oppa dramatically shrieked, "MY HAIR!!"
Asing sat up so fast he smacked his head against the truck.
July Boy blinked drowsily, saw the rain, and went back to sleep.
Shon, shivering, walked into the nearest shelter.
Liabilities calmly walked to shelter as if this was all part of the plan.
OH NO and SUNG were so disoriented they ran in opposite directions.
The group scrambled, some rushed to the cars, others ducked under the tents. In the end, they separated into three random groups:
1. Liabilities, Shon, Roslin, Sung, Jangla, and Pre-Guy
2. July Boy, Hori, Toping, Asing, Tsunami, and Chingla
3. Oppa, Flower, Bori, Ori, and OH NO
A completely random split.
…Or was it?
We never know what this division really means.
