Lu Wan Ruyi turned slowly, water still dripping from her fingers, and scrutinized the person speaking up.
There she stood.
Song Yaya.
Slender, elegant, and every bit as sharp as the first time they had met in the hall, it seemed like she easily composed herself and waited for this moment.
A fitted ivory dress hugged her figure, her hair styled to perfection. But it was her eyes that were cold, bitter, burning, that held the real venom.
Lu Wan Ruyi dried her hands calmly, her expression unreadable, and neither bothered with her presence. "Song Yaya."
"So, you are Song Yaya... Nothing special about you!" Lu Wan Ruyi wasn't fazed about her presence. She has seen real beautiful ladies just like her sister. She couldn't deny it; Shen Mei was a beautiful lady with a perfect body, gentle, and could win over several bunches of men.
"You are bolder than I expected," Yaya said, arms crossed while she sneered, she didn't like her nonchalant attitude. "Waltzing into this world like you belong here, but you don't; you are a dirty little bitch from the streets; you don't belong in this circle. Dancing with my—him—like it's your right? You must be dreaming... Zhi Hao is my man, always would be...."
"Hehe.... I guess you have a weird sickness that needs to be checked up... Delusional!... If you are looking for a scene," Wan Ruyi spoke up coolly, "you chose the wrong place. This ain't a theatre house and won't give you the right audience that you need."
Song Yaya laughed, sharp and mirthless. "Oh, don't flatter yourself. I don't care about your little public performance. I care about my sons. Don't forget, Ruyi. I gave birth to them; they are my sons, and I gave him the heirs. What have you given him? Nothing! My position in their lives is still valid..."
"Ohhh? I haven't forgotten about that, and then, you didn't give birth to them, you are also a donor like any other..." Wan Ruyi nonchalantly responded, voice even. She wasn't fazed that she would take her place, and if she did, it was the kids and the man who failed her, "Actually, they are not just your sons anymore. They are ours now. And they are doing well, in case you haven't bothered to check in over the last few years. Without you, they have been prosperous."
Yaya's smile faltered giving her a little smirk. "They are mine now because, under the legal documentation, I'm stated as their mother. Are you the one recorded there? And they will never be yours. You should know that!" Yes, when they had legally gotten married, the kids allowed their dad to record her as their biological mother in all those legal documents.
"No, he can't do that! You must be lying to me..." Wan Ruyi said, stepping closer, her voice soft but firm, Lu Zhi Hao couldn't do that, and the kids couldn't accept that.
Lu Wan Ruyi eyes her sarcastically, it's normal to be in denial, but the kids trust me. They come to me. They ask me things they are too afraid to ask anyone else. They look at me not with fear, guilt, or obligation—but with hope, love, and warmth. Can you say the same? Do they?"
A flash of pain crossed Yaya's face before her lips curled again. "Enjoy it while you can. That spotlight doesn't stay kind for long. And when the whispers come back, and the boys start questioning who you really are, don't expect anyone to catch you."
Lu Wan Ruyi leaned in slightly, her gaze steady. "Let them question me. I will tell them the truth. Something I doubt they have ever gotten from you. Have you ever been truthful to them?"
