"Don't think about anything else! Get some rest," he said softly, brushing a stray lock from her face that was tickling him.
Ruyi caught his hand. "All right, don't leave me alone here... If anything comes up, take me with you..." She was nervous and worried at the same time. It was possible that they could leave her sleeping and attend to the current matter.
"I'm just in the sitting area, I'm not going anywhere far without telling you." Luckily, this VIP room had a huge sitting area they could use without disturbing her.
"All right." He warmly gazed at her. He exited the bedroom and crossed the door before going over to the sitting area where the kids, Gabriel, and other guards were working on their laptops and tablets.
Lu Zi Zhen's fingers flew across the keyboard, the glow of several pages reflecting off his glasses. Beside him, Lu Ting Cheng adjusted a small portable router, his expression sharp with concentration.
"We have pulled partial footage from the East hallway," Ting Cheng reported but his eyes didn't leave the screen for a single moment. "Someone scrubbed the logs, but I found fragments in the cache files. It's them—Ting Zhou and Song Yaya. They are in the same car."
Gabriel paced in the background, restless and pale, rubbing his hands through his hair frustrated. He had thought it was Lu Wan Ruyi and Lu Zi Zhen who had taken his fiance away but surprisingly, they were taken away together.
"Backtrack," Zhi Hao ordered looking at the images showcasing on the screen. "How did they get access to that maintenance gate over there?"
"An old staff ID," Zi Zhen responded showing him the details. "Code 44792. That belonged to a logistics supervisor who was dismissed from work last year."
Ting Cheng added grimly, "The code was never deactivated. That's on us. I think that's one thing we need to deal with later on."
Zhi Hao leaned forward. "Plot their route. Get me satellite feeds and highway checkpoints Northeast of here. If they are on the move, I want a trail in ten minutes. We have to get to them."
Lu Zi Zhen and Lu Ting Cheng worked with perfect coordination.
Lu Ting Cheng's fingers moved faster as he tapped into the satellite traffic feeds, triangulating routes. "Based on the timestamps and direction, they have got about a ten-minute head start. If they are taking the Northeast route, they will hit the Old River Junction in fifteen minutes. After that, there's nothing but backroads and mountain paths for at least fifty kilometers to go. They must have their hideout in those places..."
Gabriel halted mid-pace, alarmed. "Mountain roads? That's so dangerous. If something happens to Yaya out there—"
"So what if something happened? Who told her to show up in this place? What if it's her fault that Ting Zhou was taken away? What if she orchestrated this entire scene? You better shut up before I lose it!" Ting Cheng was sad and, at the same time, worried. He didn't give a damn about Lu Ting Zhou because whatever he had been up to for the last few weeks had been suspicious; he was his brother but he didn't truly trust him that much.
He was doing all this because he knew their mother would be worried sick! It was because of her that he was doing all this, if not, he would have left them to perish!
"How could you talk like that about your mother? She is your biological mother! How could you hate her like that?" Gabriel hadn't thought their loathing was this heavy.
"Song Yaya? What kind of vegetables is that? Who cares if she survives or not? Is it my problem that she got kidnapped? I have told you, I don't want to hear any lectures because of that woman! Remember, she abandoned us all behind; she is our biological mother, but being a mom goes beyond the donation of eggs!" Lu Ting Cheng hadn't said much the entire evening but was getting irked by this man who was acting so righteous.
