Camila did in fact remember this girl.
Sofia and her did talk about a major scene involving the character, one in which Ming Shan was slaying evil spirits with her shimei, Yue Feng, near the sect.
Everything was going alright, after all, because of her demonic blood, the female lead was unnaturally strong, so low level spirits couldn't do much to her.
And because she was so strong, her seniors trusted Ming Shan to go alone to hunt these weaklings.
Yue Feng, however, pretended to be weak and reckless, purposely going into a dark part of the woods and lure her shinji into danger. (well, she was in fact weak and reckless, but at least prepared?).
While the first one escaped unscathed because of an invisibility talisman, Ming Shan ended up bumping into a highly resentful spirit of an old fisherman, who died from drowning in a river nearby.
She fought hard, but the spirit's anger was too great and she was no match against him. Right before him handling what would surely be the final attack, the female lead was saved by the second male lead, a kind hearted demonic cultivator who was passing by.
"This seems like an important scene. Maybe I can get it to work in my favor?"
Camila wasn't sure if this already happened at this point of the story, but there was one little detail that stood out: the invisibility talisman.
She knew this universe had a magic system and that the villainess Yue Fang must know at least a trick or two, but she wasn't her.
Camila wasn't sure if the abilities of the character could be passed down to her, so an invisibility talisman would come of great use to escape battles and get a sneak peek into useful information.
She searched in the entire room, looked at all drawers, under the bed and pillow and in her pockets, but was unable to find it.
"Maybe I just didn't get possession of it yet, so that means Ming Shan also hasn't met the second male lead."
One less problem to worry about. She could start changing the end of the book in small bits, trying to know the main couple first and the sect in which they were.
The single question, however, that got her thinking was the possibility of maybe befriending the main character ( although there weren't any signs of that happening ).
Besides the fact that Ming Shan was the direct death cause of Yue Fang, there wasn't any evidence that this could work since, even if she stopped mistreating her, there still was a past filled with conflict and bullying between them.
But she could at least try.
Maybe apologizing and pretending to have changed her ways could make their relationships a bit better?
"I think they bow in the east to apologise, so might as well make that the most incredible bow this country has ever seen!"
She got ready and properly dressed herself, not exactly sure if she actually nailed tha fashion of the era. But even so, she had bigger worries than being historically accurate.
Camila looked at herself in the mirror one last time before going out of the room.
"Huh, I'm actually kinda hot… Not that I wasn't hot before of course."
Yue Fang opened the sliding wood door and stepped outside the bedroom, just to immediately trip on some random dude shrunken on the ground and fall head first into the incredibly clean wood floor. The fall was ugly and made a thumping sound that seemed to almost break the ground.
The guy's eyes widened and he suddenly stopped breathing.
"..."
"..."
Who the hell is this creep?
"Ahh, I'm sorry!! I wasn't doing anything weird, I swear! I was just finishing scrubbing the floor!!"
He tightly grabbed his dirty cloth and water bucket.
Yue Fang put one of her hands on her head and stretched the other one onto the floor. She stumbling got herself upright, almost in tears.
She did want to scream at first with this guy, but looking at him, she actually felt a bit sorry.
"No, no, don't worry! It 's fine… This can happen all the time, it didn't hurt that much anyway. I don't even think I will get a bump on the head!"
He looked at her from head to toe and, hearing this, life immediately filled his little eyes.
"You are so kind! I am such a clumsy servant, I wouldn't dare try to do anything to you miss Fang!"
"You are the best!"
"There is no other girl in the sect as powerful as you!"
"No one else's beauty matches yours!"
Yue Fang: "..."
This dude… He looked around her age, maybe a bit younger. He wore a poor old white uniform, with only his hair being tightly neat by a light blue ribbon.
His clothes were kinda ragged, but one could see he cared for those, a lot of stitches and improvised patches were visible, although he seemed to try and hide it, no one could look at it without feeling a bit bad for the boy since, besides the clothes, he really wasn't that ugly, just a bit nerdy.
He stared at floor.
Even though he seemed quite tall, he tried to make himself very small in front of the girl in front of him.
To be this cautious, Yue Fang must have quite a reputation.
"What is your name?" she said.
"Xiao Yu, miss. We practiced the sword together in the same group… But that was a long time ago, I don't expect for Miss Yue to remember someone as unremarkable as me, who was never good at fighting and didn't really stand out…"
"This name… is a bit difficult for me to remember. Can I call you Xiaoxiao? It has a tone to it.
Xiao Yu was shocked and stopped looking downwards, he blushed a bit and said:
"I- I don't mind!!"
Yue fang realized he was actually kinda timid and laughed in her head. She stared at him for a moment before saying:
"Could you do me a favor?"
"Anything for Miss."
"Could you explain some terms and expressions for me? Don't worry, they won't be very complicated, I just need to remind myself of some things. "
He widened his eyes, actually a bit nervous.
"I'm not a scholar, but I will do my best to be of use."
"Can you define for me what exactly a 'sect' is?"
Xiaoxiao stared at her for a moment, a bit confused.
"It's an organization dedicated to the practice of cultivation and martial arts, teaching talented boys and girls to cultivate the dao to fight evil spirits and possibly reach immortality."
"..."
Yue Fang's head: "So it's kinda like a magical school but for Chinese sword fighting…and a bonus of becoming a God I guess?"
She smiled, even though this Xiao Yu seems quite goofy, he actually knew his stuff!
"What about those golden core thingys?"
"… Well, as you already know, cultivators do what is similar to an internal alchemy, creating something like elixirs inside their own bodies through various techniques until they form a golden core, which is the accumulation of energy gathered in your training from previous stages. Besides being, of course, the realm where one can start flying in their swords."
Yue Dang took a good whole minute to process that much new information. This explanation made her more confused than enlightened.
"The combination of those words and in that order don't make any sense. So it's Harry Potter but with swords?"
She pretended that she understood and gave him a polite smile. But Xiaoxiao made quite a worried look.
"Miss Fang… I hope you don't mind my rudeness, but is your head alright? Are you sure you didn't hit it too hard?"
She said it was fine and hurried to the final point.
"I have one last question, if you do not mind."
"Of course, anything!"
"What is a cut sleeve?"
Xiaoxiao was without reaction, it took 10 seconds for the information to properly get into his head and for him to realize what Yue Fang wanted to know. He seemed to try and find the right words to explain it to her, but was unable to come up with a suitable answer.
His ears were a bit red.
"It's nothing that a miss like you would need to know about! Don't worry! Where have you seen such a strange term? Hahaha…"
"Oh, i saw it in a book, but I didn't understand it"
"Ah, a book you say? I guess they are quite popular now hahaha… But tell me, did you like it?"
She thought for a bit, Camila didn't actually read any of her sister's books, but I guess they seemed interesting?
"I guess so.."
"…"
He was a bit flustered and started to pack up his things.
"Can't you just say it? It's very important!"
Xiaoxiao ignored her and rapidly went his way into the corridor, smiling politely to Yue Fang.
"Don't worry Miss, it's definitely not important!!"
Yue Fang's Head: "I'm just gonna ask the next person I see… Oh, is that an angry conservative looking old man up ahead?"
Xiaoxiao's head: "I didn't know Miss Fang enjoyed those kinds of books!"
