Chapter 261 - (1) Ton Nang: You Really Are an Ungrateful Dog (1)

The "Zombie Picture Book" was distributed everywhere; not only Hoang City had it, but other places also received it.

But in the prison, only Ha Minh Hien had it.

He himself had looked through it but didn't pay it much mind. The name inside did make him somewhat concerned.

Lam Pham... a very familiar name.

But he didn't really want to pay attention to it. Whenever he thought of this person, he would think of past events. Perhaps their horoscopes clashed. There wasn't much animosity, just that he didn't want to bother.

"Take a good look at this "Zombie Picture Book." It might contain the information you want."

Ha Minh Hien walked outside, breathing in the fresh air. He exchanged a smile with Phung Kiet, unspoken, not much said, the meaning understood was enough. No need to think about these things.

After a while.

Nearing noon, everyone simply finished their meal, not thinking about those daily matters. They ate supplies collected from shops: bread, instant noodles.

Relatively speaking, this food was already considered very good in the apocalypse. Survivors in many other places might not necessarily have such treatment. For those people, they just wanted to live.

Compared to the food Ton Nang enjoyed, it was completely incomparable.

"Is anyone coming out with me to collect supplies?"

As Ha Minh Hien said these words.

The scene was so quiet that a pin drop could be heard.

Everyone looked towards Ha Minh Hien.

They had read the contents of the "Zombie Picture Book," seen the Duong Quang shelter recorded within, and also knew there was a person there they could hardly imagine.

Two words.

Lam Pham.

"I want to go."

"I also want to go."

Someone silently raised their hand.

"Brother Ha, can you bring my mother along?" Phung Kiet said softly.

"Go."

Ha Minh Hien nodded.

Many people were willing to go with Ha Minh Hien. In the end, only six survivors were chosen, not because the truck couldn't fit them, but because too many people would be somewhat problematic.

The group followed Ha Minh Hien out of the prison.

Phung Kiet chatted softly with his mother, talking about some things. Mother and son were deeply attached. Phung Kiet could give up everything, but he absolutely couldn't let go of his mother. He could accompany his mother to the prison.

But Ha Minh Hien had shown him kindness; he had to accompany him, even if he knew there would be danger.

Second floor.

Ton Nang spied, hiding in the shadows, watching those departing figures. Crack, a crisp sound. The transparent glass cup was crushed by him. It was unknown whether it was red wine or fresh blood dripping from his fingers onto the ground.

Until Ha Minh Hien drove the truck away.

He turned and left.

Only the crimson liquid on the ground remained.

The street.

The survivors waiting in the truck looked at the situation outside. Some had never left the prison. They didn't expect the city to have become so desolate.

Apart from when they just came out and could see zombies, as they drove further away, the number of zombies became less and less, even becoming completely clean now.

Ha Minh Hien drove quietly, thinking in his heart, why did he do this, and what was the purpose of this?

Was it a silent act of resistance?

The truck stopped.

At the end of the intersection was an iron fence; that was the main gate of the Duong Quang shelter.

"Look, that's the Duong Quang shelter, the place where survivors live. There, you can live a normal life, without oppression," Ha Minh Hien said.

He vaguely saw someone patrolling on the rooftop, seemingly carrying a weapon.

"Aren't you going?" a survivor asked.

Ha Minh Hien shook his head and said: "No, I'm not going. When you get there, don't say you came from the prison side."

"Why?"

Everyone looked at Ha Minh Hien, not understanding why he wanted to hide it.

Ha Minh Hien said: "Just listen to me, don't ask so many questions, and don't say so much. We've been together for so long; it's a lie to say there are no feelings. I hope you all can have a good future."

Everyone looked at Ha Minh Hien, silently saying nothing.

Finally, someone spoke.

"Brother Ha, thank you for your care during this time. If it weren't for your care, we might not be alive."

"Yeah, Ton Nang, he's a pervert. You have to be careful."

Hearing everyone's concern, Ha Minh Hien smiled. Once upon a time, he was actually so well-liked by everyone. Damn, he liked this feeling, and even more, he enjoyed this joy coming from deep within his soul.

If he could have such treatment in peacetime, he would laugh even in his sleep.

But he also looked for reasons within himself. In the past, it was true that he wasn't liked by everyone. It was his own personality problem. He wasn't friendly to anyone, always thinking of taking advantage of others. More importantly, his appearance and physique, whoever saw him, their first thought was that he looked so greasy and lowly.

"Thank you all for your concern. Take good care of auntie," Ha Minh Hien said.

Auntie was Phung Kiet's mother.

"Mhm, we know. But Brother Ha, how will you explain when you go back?"

Ha Minh Hien smiled, "In the apocalypse, isn't it very normal for some people to die?"

Everyone: ...

Everyone opened the car door, got out, and walked into the distance. Ha Minh Hien waited in the car, watching their backs, watching them reach the Duong Quang shelter, and then enter.

He stepped on the accelerator, turned a corner, and left. Before returning, he had to continue collecting some supplies.

As for whether Ton Nang believed him or not, it had nothing to do with him. If you don't believe, then don't believe. The people are already gone; what's the use of telling me these things?

Quan Hao looked at the six survivors before him with a dazed expression.

My goodness.

They came in a group.

When they arrived here, they curiously observed the surrounding situation and found that the people living here were all smiling and working. Some were even chasing and playing. The atmosphere was instantly different.

Was this truly a paradise on earth?

"Where are you all from?" Quan Hao asked, "And what's the situation with that car just now? Why didn't it come with you all?"

Big brother wasn't here, so he didn't know how to arrange these people.

The requirement to live in the Duong Quang shelter was to be an ordinary citizen, or to get big brother's approval, or to get Officer Hoang's... Sigh, speak of the devil, and the devil truly appears.

A clean Officer Hoang slowly walked over.

Before caring where these people came from, they definitely didn't know Officer Hoang's situation. "Don't be nervous. That's Officer Hoang. You said you've read the Zombie Picture Book, so you must have read the content recorded in it. It's always like this the first time. If Officer Hoang accepts you, then you can live here."

The six survivors were a bit nervous.

Although the introduction said so, Officer Hoang was truly a zombie.

And the standard for this "ordinary citizen" had no limits, making it a bit hard to fathom.

Quan Hao waved his hand, "Officer Hoang, good morning. Six survivors have arrived. Please take a look and see if they are suitable."

What if they weren't suitable?
