Charlotte felt conflicted because at times this man's presence seemed pleasantly fragrant, a scent infused with strength that was enticing, yet at other times it felt dangerously poisonous, making her want to retreat and escape.
Suppressing the tension and aversion in her heart, Charlotte calmly responded to Atlas Hallow's question, "If you suddenly got married to a stranger, wouldn't you want to break away and leave? That's a normal reaction, shouldn't blame me, right?"
"You ask me if I'd want to break away when suddenly married to a stranger, how could I? You have no idea how much I enjoy this," the man's thin lips curled into a smile. "I thought you'd feel the same way, was my judgment wrong? Or have I not tried hard enough to satisfy you, resulting in our estrangement?" He said with an implied meaning, holding her chin.
