In the kingdom of Orion everyone receives a class from the class stone at the age of eighteen on the 15th of June. They can range from mundane classes like maid, cook, or smith to adventurer classes like mage, fighter, and assassin.
At the age of sixteen you can visit the adventurer's guild to have your status checked for a fee of one silver. Though no one ever does that early cause everybody starts with 5 in all stats at that age. Additionally you can pay a seer a fee of one gold to tell you your class early. Although you can't learn any skills before getting your class you can train your base stats to a maximum of 10 by the age of eighteen with hard work to give yourself a head start.
On the northern border of the kingdom there was a small village by the name of Brookwood. Brookwood was a peaceful village with a stream flowing through it from east to west. The biggest building was the adventurer's guild located on the only hill in the middle of the village. The stream cut around the bottom of that hill on the northern side. There were only forty residences in the whole village. There was one main road made of cobble stone leading from the South Gate to the guild building and all the other roads were simple dirt roads. The houses closest to the guild seemed nicer than most but after one layer of houses they all seemed like rather simple wooden structures. The only outlier being the stone forge building by the entrance of the village.
Kevin, the local blacksmith's son, and his best friend Matt, the son of two of the village guards, where heading to the adventure's guild to have there status checked one last time before the class assignment tomorrow.
Kevin was a tall boy at six foot tall. He had a lean but muscular build of someone who has been working out for a long time. He wore a simple white shirt and plain brown pants and light brown leather boats. All with a modest amount of black soot from helping around the forge. He had shoulder length wavy light brown hair worn up in a short ponytail. His eyes were a bright light blue that almost seemed to glow especially in low light areas. His skin was smooth and tanned from the sun due to his long hours working out in the field behind the village before the forest. He walked in a confident manner like someone who was ready for a fight and sure he could win it despite his lack of actual combat experience.
Matt was shorter at five foot eight. He had a skinnier build almost that of a professional runner. He wore a black shirt and black pants with a green trim that were a higher quality then Kevin's and a pair of matching black leather boots. His hair was raven black and cut short in a more military style like that of the village guards. His eyes a dark brown that would change between a deep brown when he was in a bad mood to a honey brown when he was in a good mood. His skin was much paler due to him putting his targets for archery training just inside the wood line so he could practice shooting while moving around obstacles. He had a light scar on his right cheek from an accident with a training bow when he was sixteen.
"Hey Matt thanks for lending me that silver coin for the assessment. I can't wait to get our classes so we can check our statuses anytime we want!" Said Kevin
"No problem man. I just hope I finally got my dexterity stat to 10. It will be such a great bonus to my archer class." Said Matt.
Matt already knew his class because his parents made enough to save up to get his class checked. Archer although not a over powered class could be a very good class at all stages especially with a good front line.
Kevin coming from a single parent household was less fortunate. He's mother couldn't save enough for the seer even as the village's only blacksmith. His father a warrior had died when he was five in a dungeon accident. Kevin's mother always did her best to raise her son by herself. She had him train his strength because it was common for a child to have a class similar to there parents and both smith and warrior are primarily strength based classes.
"I just hope I got my strength to 10 and maybe my agility to 8 or 9. Even though I plan on being your tank doesn't mean I'm gonna let you do all the damage!" Kevin joked.
They came to the front door of the biggest building in the village, the adventurer's guild. It was the only three story building in the village looking kind of like a wooden castle with stone accents.
