Chapter 22 - The two supreme ghost artifacts

Around him, many people gazed with strange eyes—eyes that seemed filled with jealousy, or perhaps even resentment.

Mo Lin hadn't anticipated that his simple remark would elicit such a strong reaction from the crowd.

"That's a supreme ghost artifact," a man corrected Mo Lin.

"Oh..." Mo Lin suddenly recalled something and asked, "If this is a supreme ghost artifact, then what kind of level is a ghost artifact that can be used permanently?"

Upon hearing his question, the crowd collectively gasped in surprise.

"A ghost artifact that can be used permanently? Who has ever seen such a thing?"

"Are you even serious about asking that?"

"I've never seen one."

"Such an item would be priceless."

"Can something like that even be rated by level?"

"Alright, I won't ask any further then."

It seemed that the people here had no concept of a ghost artifact that could be used indefinitely. Mo Lin wondered if it was because these people had limited experience or if permanent-use ghost artifacts were simply that rare.

Shaking off the thought, Mo Lin redirected the conversation.

"How much is this ghost artifact worth in Yin coins?"

The crowd pondered for a moment.

"For something this supreme, it's up to you. But it could sell for at least 20,000 Yin coins."

"It should range between 20,000 and 30,000 Yin coins."

"Yeah, roughly that."

The prices being discussed were fairly consistent—between 20,000 and 30,000 Yin coins.

Hearing these figures, Mo Lin was stunned. He hadn't expected such a high price for what he had considered a relatively low-level ghost artifact. The price surpassed his expectations. He had thought that even 3,000 Yin coins would be a good price for one of these artifacts.

But here it was—something that might fetch more than 20,000 Yin coins. Even for a wealthy family like the Xian family, this was no small sum. Not many people here could afford that much.

As the discussions continued, more and more people gathered around. Mo Lin had quickly become the center of attention in the entire marketplace.

All eyes were on him. Some of the street vendors had even abandoned their stalls to come see what was happening.

"I'm selling this ghost artifact. Does anyone want to buy it?" Mo Lin asked, holding the short sword up to the crowd.

"Who knows if you're a fraud?"

"Yeah, what if this ghost artifact doesn't actually work seven times?"

"Exactly…"

Mo Lin grasped the dagger tightly, and a burst of ghostly energy emanated from the blade, causing the crowd to shift from doubt to shock.

Anyone who was a ghost controller could now sense the state of the sword.

"Seven times..."

"Can it really be used seven times?"

"This is a supreme ghost artifact!"

"Who the hell just said it's worth only 20,000 Yin coins? This artifact's price should be at least 30,000 Yin coins."

"A ghost artifact that can be used six times costs about 29,000 Yin coins, so a seven-use artifact must be priced even higher."

"Wait... 30,000 Yin coins?"

"Can a low-level ghost artifact really be worth that much?"

Mo Lin's mood soared. The reaction was far beyond what he had expected.

"Does anyone want to buy it?" Mo Lin repeated.

There was silence.

It wasn't that the crowd wasn't enthusiastic, nor that they looked down on Mo Lin's artifact. The issue was simple: money.

That's right… they were just too poor.

What does 30,000 Yin coins even represent?

A typical ghost controller would struggle to earn that much even if they worked every single day of the year.

A price like that was far beyond what an ordinary ghost controller could pay. Even a Level 3 ghost controller wouldn't be able to afford it.

People were eyeing the artifact hungrily, but their pockets were empty. They could only stare in envy.

They were poor!

After about a minute, someone finally spoke up.

"I'll buy it."

Following the voice, Mo Lin saw a woman.

She was dressed in a white qipao, tall and graceful, her steps confident in a pair of high heels. She had a commanding presence.

Seeing her approach, the crowd immediately parted to make way.

Her skin was flawless, her youthful face almost matching Mo Lin's age.

Her voice was clear and melodious.

Her attire, her aura... it was clear she was someone of wealth.

And judging by how the crowd reacted, this woman was certainly no ordinary person.

"32,000 Yin coins," Mo Lin decided to call for a high price. If she wasn't willing to buy, he would lower it accordingly.

"Alright," the woman agreed without hesitation.

"Ah…" Mo Lin's first instinct was that he had undersold it.

He had suspected she was wealthy, but he hadn't expected her to be this rich.

32,000 Yin coins without bargaining?

What did 32,000 Yin coins even mean?

During the seven years he spent as an emissary in the underworld, he hadn't even earned that much in total.

"Alright," the woman smiled as she handed over the money.

Mo Lin easily earned 32,000 Yin coins.

The money came so effortlessly.

Around him, people couldn't help but envy him.

They worked tirelessly their entire lives and could never earn as much from selling a single ghost artifact.

Meanwhile, Zhao Xiaoqiang, who had been watching closely, felt disappointed. He had hoped to buy the artifact using his price advantage, but now it seemed that would no longer be possible.

Just as he was about to leave, Mo Lin stopped him.

"Brother, are you leaving so soon?"

"The ghost artifact's already sold, there's no point in staying," Zhao Xiaoqiang said. He had no other reason to be there.

"Although I've sold one artifact, I have another one. Would you like to take a look?"

His words weren't shouted, but everyone around heard him clearly.

Another supreme ghost artifact?

Was he serious?

Does this guy have an unlimited supply of supreme ghost artifacts?

Can one just pick them up casually?

Is he kidding?

Red Yanxun had taken a few steps before pausing, curious to see if Mo Lin really had a second artifact.

"Do you have another artifact?" Zhao Xiaoqiang asked, eyeing the blue longsword at Mo Lin's waist.

"Are you planning to sell me this one?"

"No, no…" Mo Lin quickly waved his hand.

That sword was too precious for him to part with.

It was far more valuable than any ghost artifact.

"I just think it looks nice. If you're not willing to sell it, it's fine." Zhao Xiaoqiang added, "But this ghost artifact looks pretty good. I wonder how it compares to the supreme ones."

Mo Lin smiled awkwardly.

Ghost artifact? Compare?

He didn't want to discourage Zhao Xiaoqiang, so he decided to let it go and skipped the topic.

Mo Lin reached into his pocket and pulled out the second artifact, which, like the first, was a ghost artifact that could be used seven times.

It took the form of a pair of scissors.

The crowd was in complete shock when they saw Mo Lin produce a second artifact.

Even Red Yanxun's eyes widened in disbelief.

She was most concerned with whether this new artifact could indeed be used seven times, whether it was truly a supreme ghost artifact.

"Do you like this one?" Mo Lin asked.

Zhao Xiaoqiang, not in any rush to take the artifact, responded casually, "Is this one a supreme ghost artifact too?"

"I only want supreme ghost artifacts."

"Yes, this one is the same as the one I sold before. It can be used seven times."

This statement caused a stir.

"Really?"

"He pulled out a second supreme ghost artifact?"

"Who is this guy? How does he have so many supreme ghost artifacts?"

"Did he rob a ghost's nest or something?"

"Or is he from the underworld?"

"To own one supreme ghost artifact is already impressive, but two? This guy's something else."

The crowd erupted in chatter, astonished and disbelieving, with envy and jealousy in their voices.

Even Zhao Xiaoqiang, who had been so composed, now wore a shocked expression.

He had his doubts about Mo Lin's claims, but once he held the artifact, all his skepticism vanished.

A supreme ghost artifact that could be used seven times.

It was undeniable—this was truly a supreme ghost artifact.

To possess two of them? That left Zhao Xiaoqiang stunned.
