Chapter 66 - Light to His Darkness

Watching them struggle to start the conversation, Aveline signalled a maid to clean up the counter, hugged two of the columns, and carried them to the living hall. 

Charles took the tallest column and followed behind her.

Once the three columns were on the wall table, she added a candle and a small figurine to complete the look. 

Then she sat down, watching the three of them still on their feet. "You're uncomfortable. And making me uncomfortable too." She finally broke the silence.

Margaret sat beside Aveline and gently held her hand. Aveline spoke before her mother could start, "You don't have to be apologetic, Mom. I know you wish nothing but the best for me." Though Margaret could be controlling and specific. Aveline was always aware of how much her mother loved her.

Margaret nodded, feeling emotional. "We should have heard you. Not rushed you into a whirlwind arrangement. "
