"Woof!" Shut up!
The sudden bark scared Lao Fei so much that he fell to the ground, looking at Ye Suchi with tearful eyes.
"Squeak... What's wrong with Dog Grandpa...
Damn it, now I know why that guy was insistently offering him food for no reason—it was with ill intent!
There must be some kind of drug in this sausage, specifically designed to catch dogs.
Ye Suchi let out a low growl at Xiao Dian, warning him not to come any closer.
Xiao Dian was stunned. Why wasn't the dog eating the sausage? It didn't make sense. Brother San had been killing dogs for years, and the bait he prepared was always the most appealing to dogs. Even those that had undergone food refusal training couldn't resist taking a bite.
Thanks to this professional equipment, they could safely capture even the most ferocious dogs. It was precisely because of this that they had been able to make a name for themselves in the dog-catching business, building a reputation and a brand.
To go nationwide, to go global, to become a CEO, and to win the heart of a rich and beautiful woman.
Xiao Dian didn't quite understand in his heart but still held the sausage up to Ye Suchi's face, muttering, "Come on, eat it. It's super delicious ham!"
Am I an idiot?
Ye Suchi rolled his eyes, spat, and took a few steps back, calling Lao Fei to retreat with him, staying on guard.
Xiao Dian was stunned again. Was the dog's reaction a sign of contempt for him?
Bald Brother San also came over and, seeing this scene, wondered, "How did you operate it? Why isn't it working?"
"I... I just used it normally. This dog is a bit eerie! It seems to know what I'm going to do!" Xiao Dian looked at the dog's fierce eyes, feeling a bit guilty.
"What eerie or not eerie, it's just a dog. You're such a coward. Forget it, just go for it! Hurry up! Don't cause any trouble!" San said, taking out a miniature pistol from his bag.
"Ding—The host is in danger, triggering an escape mission!" The system suddenly appeared and said.
... Is he joking by speaking so slowly! If he had eaten that sausage, he would have been done for already! What kind of lousy luck is this, running into this as soon as he went out?
Ye Suchi glanced at the gun, his eyes turning cold. They actually used a tranquilizer gun. You despicable dog thieves!
How could you bear to treat such a cute little handsome dog like this!
"Growl!" Ye Suchi howled and took off running.
The 36 Stratagems say that retreat is the best strategy! Dog Grandpa has already got your number!
Lao Fei was still staring at Ye Suchi, not understanding why Dog Grandpa had suddenly started sprinting.
The bald man didn't take this little Husky seriously, raised the tranquilizer gun, and aimed at it to shoot.
Through the touch of his whiskers, Ye Suchi keenly detected the change in air flow and instantly boosted his energy to roll to the side.
"Whoosh!"
The tranquilizer dart grazed past his waist!
The dog actually dodged that tranquilizer dart!
The bald man was somewhat surprised. This dog, who was at most four months old, actually had such agile reflexes?! After all, his marksmanship was considered one of the most accurate in the circle!
"Th-this can't be..." Xiao Dian was stunned, muttering.
"Dog Grandpa! You're awesome!" Lao Fei had now understood the situation, squatting there with his mouth open, watching the drama unfold and cheering.
Ye Suchi just wanted to say, damn it!
His just-now extreme side roll had even shocked himself! For a moment, it was as if he had a sudden enlightenment, and everything became crystal clear.
Unfortunately, it was only for a moment. He could already feel that his body had consumed a lot of energy. Perhaps this body was too young and lacked the strength to sustain high-intensity movements.
If there were a few more shots, he wouldn't have the energy to dodge!
Ye Suchi spotted a nearby shrubbery-filled garden and suddenly sped up to dart over.
Although the garden wasn't safe either, at least there were some obstacles to let him catch his breath.
"Meow!"
A cat's cry suddenly erupted from the flower bed!
Ye Suchi couldn't brake in time and crashed right into it!
"Aaaah! It's you again! I just combed my fur!"
Ah, what a coincidence.
Wasn't this the same cat girl he had just dealt with?
"A loser." Ye Suchi stepped on the cat girl and leaped into the shrubbery, not forgetting to say.
"Who are you calling! I'll scratch you to death!" The black cat's fur bristled, and she immediately chased after him.
Ye Suchi glanced at the two bald men running towards them and regretted his smart mouth, which had provoked the cat and led to a situation where he had a tiger in front and a wolf behind!
"Miss." Ye Suchi said to the black cat while crouching and moving stealthily, "How about we have a competition?"
"What? Don't try to pretend!" The black cat jumped onto a tree, looking for Ye Suchi's figure, ready to give him a good beating.
"See those two people outside?" Ye Suchi used a very proper and gentle tone, like a gentleman coaxing a little girl, "Whoever scratches that bald man's face first wins. How about that?"
The black cat's round eyes stared at the two men for a few seconds. She couldn't understand human language like Ye Suchi, but she could sense that these two people were annoying and threatening to her.
"Why should I compete with you!" However, the black cat wasn't foolish and immediately meowed in refusal.
Huh, this cat girl was actually not easy to deceive?
Ye Suchi quickly added, "If you win, I'll call you the Cat Queen, and if I win, you're the loser! How about that?"
"You're the loser! I'm the Cat Queen!" The black cat roared, kicked off the tree branch with her legs, and launched herself like a spring!
Seeing a dark shadow pouncing towards them, Xiao Dian screamed and retreated several steps.
"What the hell is that?!"
Bald San was also startled, instinctively stepping back and raising the tranquilizer gun, which had just been loaded with a dart, towards the dark figure.
But the dark figure was too fast! Before he could even aim, he was already embraced by the figure!
"It's a cat! A cat!" Xiao Dian finally saw what the dark figure was and shouted.
Bald San was suddenly covered by the black cat, and he was greatly alarmed. He instinctively reached out to grab the cat on his face, but the cat's claws were too sharp, directly tearing several bloody wounds in his skin!
Ye Suchi stood there, staring in amazement. He had just said that the cat girl was not easy to deceive, and in an instant, she obediently went to scratch someone?
Awesome, awesome, what a great cat gun that follows orders precisely.
Then Ye Suchi quickly saw the bald man aiming the tranquilizer gun at the black cat!
"Watch out!"
Ye Suchi roared and charged straight out!
He buried his head and rammed into the bald man with all his might!
Xiao Dian let out a scream! The bald San only felt a powerful force hit his leg. Already unstable because he couldn't see, his body lost balance even more and fell backward!
"Bang!" As he fell, he still pulled the trigger of the tranquilizer gun!
"Third Brother!" Xiao Dian's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at the bald-headed Lao San, who had fallen to the ground. That dog had darted out so fast! It didn't seem like an ordinary dog at all!
Nonsense! Ye Suqi, utterly exhausted, had just used almost all of his strength to push his speed to that level in an instant. It was seriously hard work!
"Meow—!"
The black cat let out a pained cry, its claws raking deeply across Lao San's face before it dashed into the bushes.
"Goddammit!" Lao San, already in excruciating pain from the fall, suddenly felt a sharp sting on his face. He let out a furious shout, clutching his face with his hands.
Xiao Dian stood frozen beside him, too shocked to speak. The black cat's final swipe had been vicious—crimson beads of blood seeped from between Lao San's fingers, staining his hand. The sight was gruesomely bloody.
When Lao San felt the sticky warmth and smelled the metallic tang of blood, his mind went blank.
His face?!
That damn cat! That damn dog!
He immediately wanted to leap up and kill that cat!
"Ugh—!" The moment he moved, a dull pain shot through his hip bone, forcing a groan out of him as he collapsed back onto the ground.
"F*ck!"
The fall sent another wave of pain through him.
"Third Brother! Third Brother!" Xiao Dian finally snapped out of it and rushed over to help Lao San up. "You got scratched by the cat! You need to go to the hospital!"
"To hell with the hospital! Where's the dog?!" Lao San snarled.
Xiao Dian froze, remembering the dog that had charged out. But when he turned to look, the dog was long gone.
The moment the dog had rammed into Lao San's legs, Xiao Dian had been too stunned to react. Now, it was too late to chase after it.
"Useless!"
Lao San took one look at Xiao Dian's clueless expression and knew the guy had missed everything. Furious, he cursed again. But there was nothing he could do now—his wounds needed immediate treatment. They'd just have to come back for that damn dog and cat later!
*Ding—Congratulations, Host, on successfully escaping. Reward: 500 Star Points.*
As Xiao Dian helped Lao San limp away, the system's notification chimed. But Ye Suqi had no time to acknowledge it. He was busy anxiously pulling the tranquilizer dart out of the black cat's body.
This cat had gone after Lao San because of his encouragement. If it died from this dart, he'd never forgive himself!
Old Fatty crouched beside the motionless black cat, wiping tears as he whimpered, "Doggy Sir, is the cat lady... dead?"
"Shut your mouth!" Ye Suqi snapped.
Even though the black cat was just a cat—and the old Ye Suqi might not have cared much—things were different now. He was a dog, and he'd just used this cat to get out of trouble. If he abandoned it now, his conscience would never let him rest.
Deciding to take the cat to a vet, Ye Suqi figured he'd deal with the consequences later. For now, he had to act.
"Stop crying. Help me get it onto my back," Ye Suqi ordered, nudging Old Fatty with his paw.
Old Fatty obediently scrambled up and tried to lift the black cat onto Ye Suqi's back. But despite its chubby appearance, the rat was pathetically weak. After struggling for ages, it still couldn't manage the task. Ye Suqi was so annoyed he almost cursed it out.
But it was just a rat, after all. Swallowing his frustration, he turned and barked at a random bird pecking at the ground nearby:
"You! Yeah, you! Stop eating and go find me someone stronger!"
The bird, startled, flapped its wings and flew off—whether it had understood him or not was unclear.
Before long, however, Ye Suqi heard several meows approaching.
"Was Bai Tuan around here?"
"Bai Tuan-jie just told me she ran into a really annoying dog."
"What's that smell?"
"It's Bai Tuan-jie! And... and a dog?!"
The last speaker sounded terrified and immediately prepared to bolt, but Ye Suqi, exhausted, called out:
"Stop right there. Do you recognize this cat?"
"This dog can talk to us?!" one cat exclaimed.
"Oh my god, that's terrifying!" another added.
"Should we go check? He looks really mean..." a third one muttered.
"Too scary, I'm not going."
"Same, I don't dare either."
Ye Suqi, already drained, stared blankly at the three yellow-and-white tabbies. Damn it, they looked identical—he couldn't even tell which one was speaking.
Old Fatty cowered between Ye Suqi's legs, peeking out at the tabby trio.
Seriously?! Old Fatty, what are you doing there?!
Ye Suqi had half a mind to kick the rat away.
"Old Fatty, get out here! Stop being a coward!" Ye Suqi barked, then glared at the tabbies. "Enough yapping. Get over here!"
His domineering aura flared naturally as he spoke. The smallest of the tabbies, its resolve weak, began shuffling timidly toward him.
"Xiao San, what are you doing?!" one of the larger cats hissed, swiping at its tail.
Xiao San let out a soft "meow" and raised its tail. "I see Bai Tuan-jie..."
"What?!" The other two gasped, darting forward so fast they nearly knocked Xiao San over.
Ye Suqi was thoroughly unimpressed by their clumsiness. He swatted them aside. "Easy there."
"It really is Bai Tuan! What happened to her?! Did you bite her to death?!" one tabby yowled.
Ye Suqi rolled his eyes. Look at his tiny puppy teeth—did they look capable of killing a cat? Ridiculous.
"You three are a bunch of idiots," Ye Suqi snorted. "No time for nonsense. We need to save her! Hurry up and get her onto my back."
The tabby trio exchanged wary glances, eyeing him suspiciously.
Ye Suqi sighed. These morons. He was already exhausted, yet here he was, still trying to help.
But he couldn't shake the fear that this cat might actually die, leaving him with a guilty conscience.
"If you don't hurry, she's really going to die!"
His sharp bark startled the three brothers.
"Maybe it wasn't him?"
"Probably not. He seems... kinda noble?"
"Yeah... I admit I'm scared, but we should listen to him."
"Same..."
"Same your ass! Move it!" Ye Suqi snapped.
The tabby trio immediately scrambled into action. Once Bai Tuan—
Wait, a black cat named "White Ball"? What kind of idiot came up with that?
—was securely positioned on his back, Ye Suqi followed the three brothers to find Bai Tuan's owner.
Turns out, this black cat Bai Tuan wasn't a stray—it had an owner. And not just any owner—apparently, it was the most popular "goddess cat" on campus, likely because of its fierce, combative nature. The tabby trio were its loyal fanboys.
Ye Suqi could only sigh. Cat aesthetics were beyond him.
