c63: Super Shenron
"Drip!"
"It should be this planet." Li Xu double-checked the coordinates on the Super Dragon Ball radar, pointing at a barren celestial body with a cracked, rocky surface.
Boom!
With a single punch, Li Xu shattered a massive portion of the planet's crust. Cracks spread like a spider web across the surface. A brilliant golden glow burst from beneath, so dazzling it forced him to squint.
Moments later, the true form of the planet emerged—it wasn't a planet at all, but the final Super Dragon Ball, camouflaged under layers of rock.
"Finally found it!" Li Xu grinned, deeply satisfied.
Originally, he intended to treat the search for the Super Dragon Balls as a way to train and temper himself. But after Bulma became pregnant, priorities shifted. Now, he just wanted to finish the task and give her the most meaningful gift possible.
Li Xu took out six Universal Capsules, each containing one of the previously located Dragon Balls. With a precise toss, the capsules exploded into space, revealing the six golden orbs. The final one joined them, and they began to spin and glow in unison.
Boom!
The seven Super Dragon Balls each planet-sized, nearly 37,196 kilometers in diameter aligned in space and released a radiant golden energy.
"Come forth, Shenron!" Li Xu shouted in the Divine Language of the Gods, the same tongue used by deities and required to summon the Super Shenron.
As he spoke, the massive orbs pulsated with blinding light.
"Yaan!"
A thunderous roar erupted, echoing across the cosmos. From the Super Dragon Balls burst an unimaginably huge figure Super Shenron, the cosmic dragon of the gods. His sheer size dwarfed galaxies, his golden body coiling around stars.
Even after seeing countless powerful beings, Li Xu was awestruck. He couldn't even be sure whether Super Shenron was a true living entity his scale and aura transcended ordinary comprehension.
"You who have gathered all seven Super Dragon Balls, state your wish. I shall grant any one wish within my power."
The voice didn't resonate in space but directly in Li Xu's mind, majestic and absolute.
"Please grant my wife, Bulma, immortality," Li Xu said solemnly.
He understood that even Super Shenron had limits; true immortality was a tricky concept. But at the very least, he hoped this wish would grant Bulma soul regeneration and eternal youth, preventing her from ever dying of illness, injury, or age.
If Super Shenron could grant that, then Bulma would be safe no matter what.
"This wish is simple."
Super Shenron's giant crimson eyes flared with divine light. At that moment, on Planet Sadala, Bulma felt a wave of warm energy sweep through her body. Though she couldn't fully understand it, she instinctively knew Li Xu had done something incredible for her.
"Your wish has been granted. Farewell."
With a final pulse of energy, Super Shenron vanished, and the seven Dragon Balls separated again each one rocketing away at unimaginable speed across the sixth and seventh universes, scattering randomly.
Unlike Earth's Dragon Balls, Super Dragon Balls cannot be intercepted or stopped after the wish is made they move too fast, too unpredictably. Only someone like an Angel might have the power to track or catch one.
"Maybe Vados could actually intercept them," Li Xu thought, turning his gaze toward her.
"I didn't expect you to know the Divine Language. That really caught me off guard," Vados remarked with amusement. She had assumed Li Xu would ask for her assistance to speak the summoning words.
"I learned it by making a wish with the Seventh Universe's Dragon Balls," Li Xu replied with a smile.
"You're referring to the Namekian Dragon Balls, correct?" Vados asked. Universe 6 had its own Namekians as well, and she was well-acquainted with their culture.
"Exactly. On Earth, we also have Dragon Balls though they were also created by a Namekian," Li Xu explained.
"Hm." Vados nodded, deciding not to delve further into that topic.
"Now that you've found the Super Dragon Balls, do you intend to return to the Seventh Universe or stay here a bit longer?" she asked, folding her arms.
"My wife's pregnant, so I plan to stay until she gives birth," Li Xu replied.
"Very well. Just let me know when you're ready to return but don't stay too long. If Lord Champa wakes up suddenly and finds out what you've done…" Vados smiled playfully, "...he might try to erase you."
"Oh? Are you worried about me?" Li Xu teased.
"I just want to see how far someone who's earned Whis's personal attention can go," Vados said with a slight smirk, dodging his flirtation entirely.
"It's really boring (cddb)." Li Xu curled his lips.
Most people, when teased, would at least blush or act flustered. Some might get angry. But Vados? She reacted like a statue completely unfazed, as if she didn't even register it.
What he didn't catch, however, was that Vados's face did change for a fleeting moment—a tiny ripple in her expression but she quickly composed herself, and the moment passed unnoticed.
After that brief exchange, Li Xu followed Vados back through the void to the Sixth Universe. Once they arrived, she returned to the God of Destruction's world, while Li Xu used Instant Transmission to head straight back to Planet Sadala.
"Husband, you're back!" Bulma's eyes lit up with joy as she saw him appear.
"I've prepared a gift for you. Can you feel it?" Li Xu smiled gently.
"I do... Something changed in my body. What happened?" Bulma nodded slowly. She had a hunch it was connected to him.
"I found the last three Super Dragon Balls, summoned Super Shenron, and wished for your immortality," Li Xu said, unable to hide his pride.
"Wait... does that mean I can't die anymore?" Bulma asked, half-joking, half-serious.
"Not exactly. You've gained what the gods call 'immortality under divine condition.' Your soul now regenerates automatically. As long as your soul isn't destroyed, your body will reform even if it's obliterated." Li Xu explained carefully.
While immortality sounded absolute, Li Xu knew the Gods of Destruction—like Beerus and Champa had techniques that could erase souls. Even Angels like Whis and Vados surpassed that level.
"That's still incredible," Bulma said with genuine appreciation, not the least bit disappointed.
"Do you like the gift?" Li Xu asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I love it," Bulma whispered, laying her head against his chest, smiling contentedly.
With the woman he loved in his arms, a sudden heat stirred in Li Xu's body. But remembering her condition, he quickly reined it in. Still, the proximity, the intimacy it was hard to ignore.
Bulma felt the change in his body and blushed. "Hubby… if you're careful, it's okay…" she whispered shyly.
"It's fine. A few more months won't hurt. I don't want you to stress over me," Li Xu replied with a light chuckle. He wasn't someone who always acted on impulse and certainly not at the expense of her safety.
"Thank you, hubby." Bulma smiled, full of affection.
"There's no need for 'thank you' between us. But after the baby's born, you'll have to repay me." Li Xu laughed mischievously.
"Husband, have you thought of a name for the baby yet?" Bulma asked curiously.
"If it's a boy, we'll call him Li Yi. If it's a girl, let's go with Bra," Li Xu answered. He'd been thinking about this ever since Bulma told him she was pregnant.
"Bra… that's a lovely name," Bulma said warmly. Her smile deepened. In the original timeline, Bulma did indeed name her daughter Bulla, which is sometimes rendered as Bra in Japanese.
"As long as you like it." Li Xu grinned, though he thought privately: Of course she'd like it—it's her own idea in another timeline.
