Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 Returning to Town

Bobo pulled out a grass-green linen band from somewhere.

"An Elf artifact?" Kana was a bit surprised.

This grass-green linen band bore the distinctive weaving style of Elves, making Elf artifacts easy to recognize.

Though many imitations exist, of course.

"You have a keen eye," Bobo complimented, shaking the band in his hand, "I got this during my travels, a souvenir from a Wood Elf Forest Ranger.

When the rodents caught me, they snatched this and tossed it away, but I took it back secretly.

If you need it, I can give it to you, after all, you saved my life."

Kana nodded, took the band, and without hesitation, infused it with magic.

[Magic Power: 2/12]

Today, two items were immediately datafied, leaving only two points of magic power.

Looking at the band in hand.

[Forest Ranger's Band]

[Arm Band—Linen Band—Ordinary]

[Attributes: Tenacity, Comfort]

[Features: Forest Watcher, Ranger's Eye]

[Ranger's Eye: When the wearer shoots with a bow—gains "Focus" (Accuracy+)]

[Evaluation: Watcher of the Forest, Guardian of Nature's Ranger. Materials willingly provided by nature woven together.

Enemies of nature, beware, I see you!]

Good stuff, definitely good stuff.

"Thanks, I like it very much."

Bobo, seeing his satisfaction, breathed a sigh of relief.

"Glad you like it."

A commotion ahead.

Turning to look, Blake came over with guards, followed by Jonel and others.

Dragging some rodent corpses in their hands.

Jonel approached and saluted, glanced at the white rat standing next to Kana, and said, "Your Highness, a total of 36 rodents were killed, though some ran away."

Kana nodded: "We're few in number, killing this many is enough, the ones that escaped won't survive long.

Bury those rodent corpses in these pits, it'll be like sending them home. But this one's head needs to be chopped off."

The beheaded one was the one who entered the town last night, killed the woman, and abducted the child.

Several soldiers glanced at the pits in the camp, pits dug by rodents intending to use them as nests.

Throwing them in to bury was indeed like sending them home.

The soldiers got to work, soon cleaned up the surrounding corpses.

Some corpses were thrown at the back of the forest, and everyone was too lazy to retrieve them, leaving them there as a return to nature.

"Alright, a threat has been dealt with, time to head back."

With that, Kana led everyone out of the forest.

Bobo walked beside Kana, feeling quite uneasy, she could clearly feel all the eyes on her.

Filled with vigilance, curiosity, and disdain.

Arriving at the ship docking area, those guarding the ship saw Bobo and got a fright.

But seeing Kana and the others indifferent, they relaxed, but their eyes stayed fixated on Bobo.

Back in the town.

The villagers all saw a big rodent head.

Kana and Jonel personally carried the little girl back to her old home.

"Mommy, where's Mommy?"

The little girl suddenly asked, unaware her mother had already died.

Blake and Alyris didn't know how to answer for a moment, considering making up something.

Kana directly said: "She died, killed by the black rat while protecting you."

Saying so, not waiting for the girl's reaction, he said: "Take her to see her mother."

Jonel led the girl straight inside.

Soon, the girl's cries were heard from within.

"Wouldn't this be bad?" Kecha asked.

"Children aren't that fragile, hiding the truth causes more harm," Bobo suddenly said.

Kana nodded: "It would be disrespectful to her mother."

"What will happen to her in the future?" Alyris suddenly asked.

"There's an orphanage in town, funded by the Count and knights for warrior's children."

Blake explained somewhat, then added: "She has a father."

Her father is fighting on the frontline.

"Are there many ships in town?" Kana asked Blake.

Blake was stunned by the sudden question, but quickly thought it over and shook his head: "Aside from fishing boats, only the ship we used today is slightly larger."

"Anyone in town know how to build ships?"

This question stumped Blake.

"There are two shipbuilders." Jonel, emerging from the room, replied.

The Safro Kingdom, surrounded by sea on three sides, has no shortage of shipbuilders; many carpenters worked in shipyards.

Moreover, this was originally a military town, with various military equipment crafted here.

So many craftsmen are gathered here, or rather, every town resident has some skill.

Be it armor making or leather crafting, weapon forging, or stone masonry for fortresses, carpenters and shipbuilders are naturally present.

"If I asked you to build more large ships, would you?" Kana asked.

Jonel, straightforward, replied: "I would consult the Count."

"Then bring the two shipbuilders here, I have questions for them."

This request was easily met, and Jonel soon called the two shipbuilders over.

One appeared over 50, considered an old man, while the other was in his 30s, in his prime.

"Your Highness wishes to see you," Jonel directly stated.

The two shipbuilders immediately became flustered, unsure how to greet Kana, simply preparing to kneel.

Though they'd heard a Prince was in town, they'd never seen someone so noble.

Kana quickly said: "No need to kneel, I have things to ask you."

The two shipbuilders slightly bent over, listening respectfully.

"If I asked you to build several river ships to carry double or triple the town's people, how long would you need?"

Upon hearing this, the two shipbuilders exchanged a glance, the older one said: "Depends on the size; if like the town's river ship, the town could build.

With insufficient manpower, two-three years; with enough, half a year."

Then supplemented: "But we'd need the wood stored in town."

He was referring to the river ship Kana and the others took earlier.

That ship, at most, could squeeze two-three hundred people.

The town's population was seven-eighth hundred.

"What if we only have half a month to a month?"

This scared the two shipbuilders jump.

Shaking their heads repeatedly: "Impossible, Your Highness, that's just not feasible."

"Then if we build large rafts?"

"This..."

The two shipbuilders completely baffled by Kana's intention, uncertain how to reply.

The younger shipbuilder gritted his teeth and said: "If the river's calm and the current stable, it might work temporarily."

Kana understood roughly, nodded.

"Alright, that's all I want to know."

The two shipbuilders quickly retreated.

Everyone present listened throughout, completely unsure what Kana wanted.

Only Jonel seemed to have guessed, watching Kana closely.

"I'll correspond with my uncle," Kana said.

Then, leading Alyris to his quarters, with Bobo following Kana closely.
