Chapter 4 - Chapter 03

'National Intelligence Service? Why is there an NIS agent here? And what's up with this stat window?'

"Is there a problem, sir?"

"No, continue. Keep going."

"Ah, yes."

Why is there a woman like this among my secretary candidates?

Things are getting complicated.

If I didn't know, I wouldn't care, but now I'm aware that there's an NIS spy here,

and on top of that, she's a secretary candidate.

If I choose her as my secretary representative, I'll have an NIS spy right by my side.

'Hmm... What should I do?'

I don't want to choose her, but I also don't want to let an NIS spy into my group.

To be honest, I don't really care if an NIS spy infiltrates my group or not, but there's no need to take unnecessary risks.

'I'm Seo Eun-mi. Master.'

'Seo Eun-mi?'

'Yes.'

The woman lied about her name.

And her age, too.

Probably everything else she'd said after that, like her work history, was also a lie.

'This one's a no-go.'

Even though the idea of the NIS being involved with a complete fool like Go Mu-yeol appeared far-fetched, I didn't want to take on unnecessary risks.

However, I didn't want to choose a man as my secretary either. If I'm going to live like a rogue, I might as well have a sexy woman as my secretary.

'It's a shame about the stat window, though.'

"You're all quite incompetent."

"..."

As I stood up, they all bowed respectfully.

"I'll just find one myself."

"I... apologize."

Secretary Han deeply bowed his waist, and the other candidates also bowed their heads.

They were probably cursing me out loud in their minds. In terms of specs, Go Mu-yeol couldn't even compare to someone like them.

"I'm going to Incheon. Get the car ready."

"You're really going to find one yourself?"

"Yes, I'll find one myself."

"Yes, understood."

Secretary Han stepped back, and I casually enjoyed the view of Pyongyang before heading down to the car that was ready.

"Sir."

Secretary Han was waiting in front of the car.

"Why are you waiting here? You're being transferred, you must be busy."

"Incheon is dangerous, so you can't walk around alone. I've contacted Incheon, so you'll have escorts with you."

"Thanks. I appreciate it."

"Yes, I'll take my leave now. Farewell."

Secretary Han bowed deeply and walked away.

The year is 2076, so all cars are capable of fully autonomous driving.

However, the chaebols don't use this function because they think it's uncool.

That's why they usually have a chauffeur or a secretary who drives for them.

I currently don't have a secretary or a chauffeur, so I turned on the autonomous driving function.

As far as I remember, this is the first time I've used this function since purchasing the car.

"To Incheon."

.

.

.

It took approximately four hours to travel from Pyongyang to Incheon.

From a distance, the hologram-type billboards and the dense cityscape made me think, 'Ah, this must be the famous Incheon.'

"Demonic Incheon."

In the world I was reincarnated into, it was just a simple meme, but here, it's not.

It's called Demonic Incheon because it's truly Demonic.

Incheon is the most populous city in the Republic of Korea and boasts the highest crime rate, a developed segregation city.

The reason it's called a segregation city is that it's the only city in the Korean Peninsula where North Koreans and Chinese can reside.

After the Third World War, the Republic of Korea, which acquired vast land and population, divided its people into three types.

South Koreans

North Koreans

Chinese

From a pre-war perspective, this is an unacceptable act, but in the post-war era, various mega-corporations, led by the Goryeo Group, have seized power, and such discriminatory policies have been implemented without hesitation.

For the sake of profit.

Anyway, these three types of people have legally guaranteed rights, but they are not equal.

South Koreans can freely travel and reside throughout the Republic of Korea and have voting rights. North Koreans can travel and reside in Manchuria, Yodong, Shandong, and the Korean Peninsula, and have voting rights only if they complete the mandatory education in the Republic of Korea and are over 40 years old.

Chinese can travel and reside in Manchuria, Yodong, Shandong, and Incheon, and have voting rights only for elections related to the Central Plains region and Incheon.

Even then, they must reside in the city for decades, and in the case of Incheon, only the next generation was allowed to participate, so in reality, the Chinese are treated as second-class citizens.

Anyway, the Republic of Korea, no, the most economically prosperous place in Asia, was the Korean Peninsula.

So, to make money, they had to come to the Korean Peninsula, and North Koreans, Chinese, without exception, gathered in Incheon, which was allowed.

Thanks to this, Incheon secured a population of 3 million by comprehensively redeveloping the existing downtown and new downtown, 14 new towns, and Ganghwa Island. It has a larger population than Seoul and Gyeonggi Province combined.

Beep beep.

As I was lost in thoughts while looking at the view of Incheon, police motorcycles surrounded my car, and holographic flags were fluttering on both sides of the motorcycles.

"What's this?"

I expressed my question, and the car AI responded.

-We are requesting destination sharing for escort from the Incheon Autonomous Police Agency. Will you approve?

"Ah, Secretary Han mentioned this, didn't he?"

His words came to mind, the call was forced to connect.

Hello, sir! I'm Jang Kyeong-su, the Director of the Incheon Autonomous Police Agency. Haha, it might be a bit uncomfortable, but our officers will safely escort you. It's a bit awkward to say with my mouth, but Incheon is a bit rough, isn't it? Haha. This being a coastal city, traditionally, there are some rough people. So-,

"..."

The talkative uncle spoke up.

'Police Director?'

The Incheon Autonomous Police Agency is a powerful police organization under the 'Future Incheon Security Headquarters', which oversees all security in Incheon.

It's called a police agency, but in reality, it's like a military, and the head of this military-like organization is personally contacting me.

'If it were just about status, I wouldn't be having a conversation with someone like Go Mu-yeol...'

Secretary Han mentioned something, and it doesn't seem too bad, so I shared my destination.

It's just the Incheon branch of the Goryeo Hotel.

Jang Kyeong-su talked a lot and then disappeared.

'This guy, he dies not long after the story begins, right?'

He was executed under the pretext of corruption eradication. The protagonist was secretly operating a drug factory, and when it was exposed, he was executed as an example.

Ah, by the way, the execution here doesn't mean a death sentence from the court.

It means being killed by someone with higher power. In other words, cutting off the tail.

'I don't need to worry too much.'

.

.

.

I removed my clothes in the room and lay down on the bed for a while before heading back to the lobby.

Since I didn't want to do drugs again, my top priority is to remove the 'Drug Addiction' trait.

To do this, I need to consume the 'ninelord' drug item, which can only be obtained in Incheon, the center of the world's black market.

It's very well-hidden, so it's not something people can usually see.

But I know where to get it, and for free.

"Ah, you're out."

I came out to the hotel lobby. The police officers who were sitting in the lobby chairs, drinking coffee, saw me and rushed over. They were the same ones who had escorted me here.

There were four of them, and one was a woman with long wavy blonde hair and a charming, cold-eyed beauty.

She handed me her business card.

Songdo Innovation City Police Station, 3rd Public Support Team Leader, Lim Su-ah, Superintendent.

She must have some clout in the sub-district level, and that's why she came all the way to Bucheon to start escorting me.

Either she had nothing to do, or she considered my escort very important.

If it were the Incheon Police Director who contacted me directly, this would be nothing.

"We'll protect you for the time being."

"You yourself?"

I scanned her.

She had a very attractive figure as a woman, especially with her large chest.

She looked great, and her body was perfect to hold, but that also meant she would be very annoying in intense combat.

Of course, if she were covered in cyberware, it would be a different story, but she didn't seem like that.

Perhaps noticing my skeptical gaze, she gave a friendly smile.

Her first impression was quite cold and aloof, but when she laughed, she seemed a bit loose.

She made a circle with her right index finger and thumb under her ample chest.

"We're the ones receiving the bribes. You don't have to worry about a thing."

"..."

I stared at her in disbelief and put her business card in my pocket.

No matter how public a secret it is, I couldn't believe she'd say it so openly.

"Let's do it then."
