Chapter 21 - CHAPTER 21 : SOUL ENERGY

Hiruki's eyes sparkled with amusement as he began to explain the concept of aura. "Well, like I said, soul energy can also be visible to the naked eye. We Grim Hunters can release our aura. If you focus your aura on your body, it becomes visible."

The room was transfixed, all eyes fixed on Hiruki as he continued. "The more powerful the aura is, the more powerful a Grim Hunter is. Aura is also used to measure the power and strength of a Grim Hunter."

Crinix's curiosity got the better of him, and he asked, "How can aura be released?"

Hiruki's grin grew wider, and he took a step back, closing his eyes. The room fell silent, anticipation building as everyone waited for Hiruki to demonstrate.

Suddenly, Hiruki's eyes snapped open, and a loud explosion rocked the room. The desks shook, and the ground vibrated beneath their feet. Hiruki's body began to glow, a brilliant blue light enveloping him.

The light grew in intensity, flickering like flames as it pulsed with an otherworldly energy. Everyone watched in awe, their eyes fixed on Hiruki as he chuckled, "I guess I might have overdone it, but I only released half of my soul energy."

As the blue light slowly dissipated, Hiruki walked forward, picking up a book from the table. "Okay, then. Now you've seen what aura is. So, now we're going to see if you guys can release your soul energy. This will be more like a soul test, so I'll also be recording your scores."

Hiruki's eyes narrowed as he scanned the book, his voice ringing out across the room. "Aya Suzuki!"

Aya rose from her seat, her eyes shining with excitement as she made her way to the front. Hiruki instructed her, "Now, then, show me if you can release your soul energy. Remember to focus it on your entire body."

Aya closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and focused. As she opened her eyes, her body began to glow, a bright blue light enveloping her. She looked at herself in wonder, touching her glowing arms as if to confirm the reality of the situation.

Hiruki nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "Perfect score."

As Aya returned to her seat, Hiruki continued calling out names. Kinji Ishida was next, and he too successfully released his soul energy, earning a perfect score from Hiruki.

Finally, Hiruki called out, "Niski Narukami!"

Niski rose from his seat, his hands still tucked into his pockets. He ambled to the front, his eyes fixed on Hiruki as he began to focus. The air around him seemed to vibrate with anticipation as he closed his eyes, his breathing slowing.

Suddenly, Niski's body erupted into a brilliant blue glow, his aura pulsating with an intense energy. The air around him seemed to shimmer, as if the very fabric of reality was being distorted by the power emanating from him.

Hiruki's eyes widened in surprise, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Well done, Niski. Perfect score."

As Niski returned to his seat, Hiruki's eyes scanned the book once more before calling out, "Crinix!"

Crinix and Takahishi exchanged a nervous glance before Crinix rose from his seat, his heart pounding with anticipation. He made his way to the front, his eyes fixed on Hiruki as he waited for the instructions to begin.

"Okay now release your soul energy" Hiruki told him

Crinix closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as he focused on Hiruki's words. He could feel his energy coursing through his veins, his body beginning to warm up. The air around him seemed to vibrate with anticipation, as if the very room itself was holding its breath.

Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the room, sending desks flying and shattering the windows. The sound was deafening, a cacophony of splintering wood and shattering glass. Everyone's eyes widened in shock, their faces pale with fear.

Crinix's aura erupted into a brilliant blue glow, illuminating the room with an otherworldly light. The energy emanating from him was palpable, a living, breathing entity that seemed to pulse with its own rhythm.

Hiruki's eyes went wide with surprise, his voice barely above a whisper. "Impossible... a low-level hunter can't release that much aura!"

The room was bathed in an eerie blue light, the shadows cast by the glow making it seem as if the very walls themselves were alive. Crinix's eyes snapped open, his gaze meeting Hiruki's as he took in the stunned expressions of his classmates.

Slowly, the blue light began to dissipate, leaving behind a room in shambles. Hiruki's eyes never left Crinix's face as he scribbled something in his book. "Take a seat, Crinix," he said, his voice still laced with surprise.

As Crinix made his way back to his seat, Hiruki flipped through the pages of his book, a small smile playing on his lips. "Last but not least..." he paused, his eyes scanning the room before coming to rest on Takahishi. "Takahishi."

Takahishi's eyes went wide, his face pale with fear. He looked around the room, as if hoping to find someone else with the same name. "Huh, you mean me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Hiruki's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "There is no other Takahishi in this room besides you. Now, come to the front."

Takahishi's eyes darted to Crinix, who offered him a reassuring smile. With a deep breath, Takahishi pushed himself to his feet, his legs trembling as he made his way to the front of the room. The eyes of his classmates followed him, their faces filled with a mix of curiosity and concern.

Takahishi stood frozen in front of the class, his eyes closed as he desperately tried to recall Hiruki's instructions. Five minutes ticked by, and the room grew restless. The other students began to shout, their voices filled with frustration. "He's wasting our time!" someone yelled.

Hiruki's whisper cut through the din, his voice gentle but encouraging. "Focus your energy on your entire body, Takahishi."

Takahishi's face scrunched up in concentration, his fists clenched and his teeth gritted. Veins bulged on his forehead as he stiffened his entire body. The air was thick with anticipation, the room holding its collective breath.

And then, without warning, a loud, wet fart echoed through the room. The sound was like a thunderclap, shocking everyone into silence. Takahishi's eyes snapped open, his face turning beet red with embarrassment.

The room erupted into laughter, the sound deafening. Takahishi's eyes darted wildly, his face contorted in mortification. He took a step back, his hands flying to his rear end as if to cover up the evidence.

Hiruki's face was a picture of amusement, his eyes twinkling with mirth. "Well, that's not the type of energy you were supposed to release," he chuckled.

Takahishi's voice was a barely audible whisper. "Was that... you?" He looked up at Hiruki, his eyes wide with innocence.

The room laughed even harder, the sound waves threatening to shake the very foundations of the building. Takahishi's face turned an even deeper shade of red, his embarrassment palpable.

Hiruki's grin was kind, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, at least you tried. I'll give you a score of five."

As the laughter slowly died down, Takahishi slunk back to his seat, his head hung low in shame. Crinix patted him on the back, trying to offer some comfort. "It wasn't that bad."

Takahishi shook his head, his voice barely above a whisper. "It was terrible, l almost soiled myself"

The siren rang out, signaling the end of the lesson. Hiruki smiled, his eyes twinkling with mirth. "Well, that's it for today. Remember to keep practicing."

As the students filed out of the room, Niski walked past Takahishi and Crinix, a grin spreading across his face. "See ya tomorrow, Crinix, and you weird hair guy ." Niski said looking at Takahishi's half black and white hair.

Takahishi's frown deepened, his eyes narrowing at Niski's parting shot. "Crinix, let's get out of here."
