Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

Damn, I actually became Sengoku's only son?"

Li Yang—no, the man now known as Jasper —was speechless as he absorbed the memories of his new body.

Because this guy—White Feather—was Sengoku the Buddha's biological son.

And yet, due to a stubborn personality, irritating behavior, and utterly mediocre combat ability, he'd been all but sidelined.

Despite being the offspring of the former Fleet Admiral, Sengoku, renowned for his justice and power, Jasper had achieved nothing of note.

After all these years in the Marines, he was still just a captain.

And not even a front-line officer—he was in charge of a tax ship, a glorified bureaucratic role with inflated status and negligible combat authority.

He had no Haki, poor potential, and his grasp of Rokushiki—the Six Powers taught to elite Marines—was incomplete at best.

As a result, he was mockingly dubbed the "Straw Bale Captain."

His job? Sailing from kingdom to kingdom under World Government rule, collecting taxes.

Low risk, lower fame.

Well—usually.

Right now, Jasper , with his fused memories and a strong dose of panic, wasn't feeling so lucky.

His predecessor, possibly suffering from brain damage, had gone completely off-script.

Without clearance, he'd diverted from the official shipping route to take a "shortcut" through a lesser-known island nation in the New World.

The problem?

That route was infamous: a known pirate corridor, a death trap even for seasoned Marine units.

Over a hundred pirate crews passed through that stretch daily.

Some were petty raiders—but others were monsters, captains of the Worst Generation, or even Yonko-affiliated crews.

Weak navy ships had no business sailing there alone.

Realizing this, Jasper 's anxiety skyrocketed.

He barely knew Tekkai, let alone Geppo or Soru—if they encountered even a pirate with a 30 million berry bounty, he'd be toast.

"No, I need to get off this route immediately!"

He muttered under his breath, pacing inside the captain's quarters.

Just then—

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Urgent knocking interrupted his thoughts.

"Captain! Report! Something's wrong!" a panicked sailor shouted from the door.

Jasper 's face twitched. "Please don't tell me…"

"What happened?! Don't tell me pirates actually dared to engage us!"

"Captain—it looks like pirates really are coming after us!"

Jasper 's heart dropped. "Who is it? What flag are they flying?"

"It's… it's the banner of the Beasts Pirates, sir. Looks like one of Jack the Drought's ships!"

The sailor's voice trembled. "Judging by the speed, they'll catch up soon…"

Jasper went pale. Jack the Drought—Kaido's All-Star. One of the most violent and brutal lieutenants in the New World.

They were screwed.

A weakling captain, a tax ship, and a Yonko's subordinate on their tail? Death was all but certain.

"Did I just transmigrate here only to die in the first damn chapter?" he thought bleakly.

Luckily, the sailor added, "It's only a small patrol boat… Jack doesn't seem to be on board."

Jasper sighed in relief. A small mercy.

Then something struck him. His expression changed, and he asked sharply,

"Why the hell are they chasing us in the first place? Didn't you remove the tax ship insignia?!"

Every official tax vessel carried a distinct emblem. But in pirate-infested waters, that emblem was a giant target.

Even Yonko crews wouldn't go out of their way to attack Marines without reason—unless provoked or tempted.

And a tax ship, slow and weak, was a juicy prize.

The sailor looked sheepish. "Captain, you insisted we keep the emblem. Said we couldn't tarnish the reputation of the Marines."

He sounded apologetic—but in his mind, he was cursing his idiotic superior.

If not for that foolish decision, they wouldn't be in this mess.

He didn't notice the flicker in Jasper 's expression—eyes widening in shock, surprise quickly turning to something else.

"Wait outside," Jasper said, voice suddenly calm. He shut the door.

The sailor stood outside, nervous and confused.

Inside, Jasper 's eyes gleamed.

Because he just heard it. A voice—clear and mechanical—in his mind.

[Ding! Host has been mocked as a "gentleman"! System detected.]

[Initializing… Would you like to bind the System?]

After reading webnovels for so many years, Jasper didn't hesitate.

He grinned and muttered, "Binding.

Ding! Binding successful!]

[Whenever the host is scolded for being a fool, you will receive system points!]

[Ding! Host receives the newbie package—reward: one premium lottery draw!]

Jasper 's heart surged with excitement. This was his golden ticket—maybe even his lifeline.

He immediately confirmed the draw.

With a shimmer of radiant white light, a massive lottery wheel materialized before his eyes, glowing with misty brilliance.

Then—it spun rapidly!

Shhhk—shhhk—shhhk…

Jasper stared, eyes wide, adrenaline pumping. He spotted countless options: Devil Fruits, Haki boosters, legendary weapons—even techniques from other worlds.

Finally, the wheel slowed and landed on a shimmering panel.

*[Ding! Congratulations to the host for acquiring: Eight Gates Released Formation (No Permanent Damage Version)!]

Jasper 's expression turned euphoric. The Eight Gates Dunjia!

A forbidden taijutsu technique from Naruto, capable of briefly elevating physical power beyond human limits.

It was the very technique that Might Guy used to injure Madara Uchiha, a near-god tier villain.

Without hesitation, he chose "Fuse."

In an instant, his mind flooded with knowledge—meridian pathways, muscle control, breathing techniques, explosive output mechanics.

And his body responded. Every cell was activated, his blood surged like a rushing tide, and his muscles felt as if they'd been reforged by the gods.

His physical strength had at least doubled on the spot.

At this moment, he no longer feared pirates with a 10 million berry bounty—

Even if a pirate worth hundreds of millions showed up, he was ready for a fight!

So what if they're from the Beasts Pirates?

It's not like Kaido himself is coming.

With newfound confidence radiating from his face, Jasper pushed open the door.

Outside, the sailors were growing increasingly frantic.

Yet none dared to act without the "Straw Bale Captain's" orders.

Despite his reputation, Jasper was still Sengoku's son.

If he took offense or retaliated later, he could quietly ruin their careers.

So they seethed in silence.

How can he still be stalling?!

We're about to die! Move, damn it!

[Ding! A sailor internally mocked you as a 'gentleman.' System Points +99!]

Jasper blinked—then smirked.

So even internal scolding adds to my points… This system is amazing.

When Jasper stepped out, his posture was taller, more commanding.

His expression held a trace of battle-hardened composure that made the sailors hesitate.

"C-Captain?" one of them stammered. "Shouldn't we… run?!"

But Jasper didn't flinch.

Instead of panic, his eyes were locked on the approaching vessel in the distance.

His breathing remained calm. Focused.

"Captain," another sailor said cautiously, "Should we report this to the Fleet Admiral?"

They were clinging to hope.

Despite Jasper 's weak reputation, his identity was ironclad—he was Sengoku's only son.

If Sengoku, the former Fleet Admiral and hero of the Marineford War, knew his son was in danger, he'd likely dispatch a Vice Admiral or even Admiral Kizaru in a flash.

It was their best shot at survival.

But Jasper just smiled, eyes narrowing in anticipation.

"It's just one pirate ship," he said calmly. "No need to bother the old man."

He turned, his tone sharp, cutting through the sailors' fear.

"Even if it's Jack the Drought's vessel, I want to see for myself whether this so-called Disaster is really as terrifying as the stories say."
