Kavi's eyes widened as he stepped into the entrance of his family luxurious mansion, laughter sounds from main living room "Are we expecting visitors today?" He wondered as he move closer.
Before he could ask any of the staff what was going on, a firm hand grasped his arm, he was pulled away from the entrance. His mother Rukmini, endowed in a designer sari, her hair styled elegantly, tugged him towards the main living room.
"Kavi, where have you been?" She whispered urgently, her eyes scanning the area as if searching for someone.
"Don't you know today is such an important day?" She scolded him slightly.
"What's today all about?" He asked clearly not interested.
"The Chandra's are here to form alliance, come and greet them" she dragged her along.
The name ring a bell "The Chandras" He muttered under his breath as he was dragged along. Kavi's gaze swept the room, taking in the assortment of strangers. His mind was still reeling from the sudden revelation about his sister's potential suitor when his eyes landed on a familiar face. A face that made his heart sink.
There, sitting with his family, chatting with his parents and sister as if he belonged, was his ex. The one person who had ghosted him without any explanation, leaving him heartbroken and confused.
Kavi's shock turned to anger as he wondered what his ex was doing here, and why he was being welcomed with open arms by his family.
His mother seems to sense his unease, her grip on his arm tightening. "Kavi, darling, please compose yourself," she whispered. "We need to make a good impression."
But Kavi's mind was in shambles, what was his so called ex doing here? And why was he being presented as a potential suitor for Riya his elder sister ? The questions swirled in his mind.
His mother smiled effortlessly "Kavi, darling, go greet the Chandras" she whispered, her eyes darting towards the family sitting on the couch.
Kavi's heart sank, but he knew he had to put up on a good show. He took a deep breath and forced a smile onto his face as he approach them. "Namaste, Mr. and Mrs. Chandra," he said, trying to sound suave. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
The Chandras, with kind faces, smiled warmly at Kavi. "Namaste, Kavi," they replied in unison, their voices dripping with sweetness. "We're so glad to finally meet you. Your parents have told us so much about you."
Kavi's eyes flicked to the son, who was sitting quietly beside his parents. Their eyes met, and for a moment, Kavi felt like he was drowning in a sea of awkwardness. But then, his ex,Kiaan, looked away, pretending not to know Kavi.
Kavi's heart skipped a beat, but he played along, pretending not to recognize Kiaan. "It's nice to meet you, kiaan ," he said, trying to sound casual. Both ex lovers exchanged a brief handshake.
Kiaan's parents beamed with pride at their son's polite exchange with Kavi. "Kiaan has been doing well, thank you for asking," his mother said, her voice sugary sweet. "He's been keeping busy with work and spending time with us."
Kavi nodded politely, feeling like he was trapped in a nightmare. He couldn't believe his family was actually considering his ex as a potential partner for his sister, he couldn't blame them though it not like they knew thier son was gay. But still the thought made his stomach turn, but he knew he had to keep his cool, at least for now.
As they exchanged small talk, Kavi couldn't help but steal glances at Kiaan, who was studiously avoiding his gaze. It was clear that they both knew they had to keep up the charade, at least for the sake of their families. But beneath the surface, Kavi's emotions were churning, and he couldn't wait to get out of there and process the shock of seeing his ex again.
