Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: The Blessing from the Orc King

The deep rumble of the massive serpent faded into the background as the dust settled. The cavern, which had moments ago been alive with tension and chaos, now stood in eerie silence. The gigantic serpent that had threatened to tear through their hopes was no longer a threat. Instead, a strange calm had descended upon the space, with only the sound of the rippling water from the lake echoing through the air.

Aren stood frozen for a moment, his hand still gripping the sword he had used to help destroy the serpent. His mind was racing, processing what had just happened. The prince—his unlikely companion—had been the one to provide the final solution, the one to force the creature to retreat, and he did it in a way that no one could have anticipated. Aren had never seen anything like it before.

The prince, Noah Everain, stood still, his back to the now-dead serpent, a small smirk playing on his lips. The expression was one that Aren had become familiar with since their first meeting. It was a mixture of confidence and something else—something that made Aren uneasy yet captivated by him at the same time.

"You did it," Aren muttered, almost as if still in disbelief.

Noah turned to him, his eyes gleaming. "I told you I could help," he replied, his voice calm but laced with an undeniable hint of triumph. "But it was you who helped me by buying us the time we needed."

Aren hesitated, a strange feeling in his chest. Despite their differences, despite the tension that had simmered between them since they first crossed paths, he had to admit that Noah's actions had been nothing short of miraculous. He had been right to trust the prince, even if it went against his instincts.

Noah was no longer the villain he had thought he was—at least not in the way he had once imagined. There was something more to him, something that Aren couldn't quite understand yet.

Before he could voice his thoughts, a voice echoed through the cavern, breaking the stillness.

"You've done well, both of you."

The voice belonged to none other than the Orc King, who had emerged from the shadows, his massive frame casting a towering shadow across the room. His eyes were fierce, yet there was an unmistakable respect in his gaze as he looked at the two humans before him.

Aren felt a chill run down his spine at the sight of the orc king, but he held his ground, his hand instinctively resting on the hilt of his sword. It wasn't fear that gripped him, but a deep, profound sense of awe. The Orc King was a figure of legend—one that not many could face and live to tell the tale.

Noah, on the other hand, stood unfazed, his expression neutral as always. It was as though he had been expecting the Orc King's arrival all along.

"You were right to bring them here," the Orc King continued, stepping closer, his footsteps heavy and deliberate. "I underestimated you, human. Your wisdom and bravery have earned my respect."

Aren glanced at Noah, confusion etching his features. The Orc King had just praised them, but for what exactly? They had only just met the orc leader, and yet, Noah's presence seemed to have already earned him a certain level of recognition.

"What do you mean?" Aren asked, his voice edged with curiosity.

The Orc King's gaze shifted between Aren and Noah. "Your actions here today—your willingness to protect your people, even in the face of death—have proven that you are not like the other humans I've encountered. You have a power within you, young prince."

Noah tilted his head slightly, as if contemplating the Orc King's words. "Power? I'm not here to claim power. I'm here to ensure survival—for all of us."

The Orc King's lips curled into a slight smile, his sharp teeth glinting in the dim light. "Perhaps. But even a prince like you must know that power is a tool—a necessary one."

Noah's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't respond immediately. Instead, he turned to Aren. "Aren, I need you to trust me. This—this blessing from the Orc King—it's more than just a token of respect. It's the beginning of something bigger."

Aren didn't understand at first, but the solemnity in Noah's voice told him it was important. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on him, and for a brief moment, he wondered just how deep this situation ran.

The Orc King raised his massive hand, gesturing for them to follow him. "Come. There is much more to discuss. And you have earned the right to hear it."

The trio moved deeper into the heart of the cavern, the sounds of their footsteps echoing through the stone halls. The air grew colder, the tension thickening as they approached the Orc King's chamber.

Once inside, the Orc King motioned for them to sit, and he began speaking in a low, rumbling voice.

"I see in you both the potential to change the world," he began, his eyes piercing. "The curse that has plagued our lands cannot be solved by simple might. It requires cunning, strategy, and alliances that span across borders. The world is shifting, and the time for unity has come."

Noah listened intently, his gaze unwavering, while Aren absorbed the Orc King's words, his heart pounding. They had just entered a world far more complicated than he had ever imagined.

"We must unite, human and orc alike," the Orc King continued. "Only then can we overcome the forces that seek to destroy us all."

Aren glanced at Noah, who gave him a faint nod. He was beginning to understand now. The blessing from the Orc King wasn't just a sign of respect—it was the first step in a larger plan, one that would bind their fates together.

And as the Orc King's words echoed in his mind, Aren realized that this alliance—this unexpected partnership between human and orc—was only the beginning of a much greater journey.
