Scene: Medical Bay – New Echelon Safehouse
The door slammed open.
You stood in the doorway—face swollen, knuckles split, soaked in rain and blood. Kairo and Lia looked up from their beds, wide-eyed.
Ada was already on her feet.
"You fought him?" she demanded.
You said nothing.
She stepped forward, fire in her eyes. "Leon? You fought Leon, now?! Why?"
You looked away. "He threw the first punch."
She laughed bitterly. "And you threw the second. So what does that make you—righteous?"
Lia tried to interject. "Hey, maybe he—"
"Not now," Ada snapped. Her voice cracked a little. "This city's burning. Zeyren's moving. Seris is changing. And you—you two—decide now's the time to fall apart?"
You clenched your fists. "He's not who he used to be."
Ada's voice softened. "Neither are you."
That hit.
Harder than any of Leon's punches.
You looked up at her.
She wasn't angry anymore.
She was tired.
"You were supposed to be better than this," she whispered.
Then she walked past you, out the door—leaving you in silence with your guilt, your pain… and the weight of a war that wasn't waiting for anyone to heal.
