Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Taking the Money and Running

On the desolate, empty highway, two vehicles—one vastly more formidable than the other—pursued each other in a fierce chase, their terrifying speed rendering them little more than blurred phantoms in the night.

Perhaps realizing the futility of this pursuit, the Jaguar suddenly swerved sharply at high speed, veering onto an unoccupied stretch of land, heading towards the wilderness.

Fearlessly, the electric bike lifted its front wheels off the ground, soaring over the guardrail. In the same smooth motion, it sailed effortlessly into the open terrain, surpassing the Jaguar in the process.

"Wrap it up already!" With Chen Mo's impatient command, the electric bike spun gracefully in the mud before sharply pivoting to face the Jaguar.

Before the splattering mud had even settled, the bike had already revved up once more, charging directly towards the speeding car.

The gangsters exchanged startled glances, hardly able to believe their eyes—was that bike trying to perform a cosmic collision, aiming for a fiery crash? Surely there was no need for such recklessness just to claim a pension!

"Damn it, I'll grant your wish!" The driver ground his teeth in anger, his face contorted into a snarl as he slammed his foot on the accelerator, charging at full force.

With a deafening crash, the two mismatched vehicles collided, a plume of thick smoke billowing into the air, quickly engulfing the surrounding space.

When the smoke finally began to clear, a scene of unbelievable astonishment unfolded in the open field.

The electric bike, which had collided head-on with the Jaguar, appeared completely unscathed—not even a scratch on its paint. In contrast, the once-imposing sports car had been violently pushed back by several meters, its front half crumpled into a heap of scrap metal.

The unlucky driver lay injured, with several of the gangsters flung several meters away. Only one man, with a flat-top haircut, remained standing, still holding a gun, seemingly preparing to fire a bullet.

"I personally think this bullet might be better suited for you!" Chen Mo's sharp tongue worked its magic once again. As the flat-top man hesitated for a brief moment, Chen Mo's iron fist surged forward.

It seemed like a casual strike, but the surge of electric energy suddenly erupted, knocking the man unconscious. With a faint thud, a black bag fell to the ground, several stacks of cash spilling from its open mouth.

"Mine! All mine!" Before Chen Mo could even glance down, Guo Guo, eyes gleaming, pounced upon the money. Chen Mo quickly kicked him aside, inwardly lamenting that if he took this loot back, he might suffer even worse luck, possibly choking on a fish bone while eating…

Guo Guo rolled several times in the mud, his face contorted with anger as he gazed at the money, still sobbing pitifully, "My money! My beloved little money! Boss, let's just take a little. We could buy the house you want!"

"That's true, but when bad luck strikes, will you take the blame for me?" Seeing that Guo Guo was still trying to seize the money, Chen Mo hastily grabbed the black bag and tossed it back into the sports car.

Though tempted, he had no choice but to abandon it. Just as he was about to leave, a hoarse voice rang out from not far away: "Don't move! If you don't want to die, toss the bag over here!"

Unbeknownst to them, the bald man, who had been flung into the air, had regained consciousness and was now steadily advancing, holding a gun aimed directly at them.

Despite the black barrel of the gun, Chen Mo showed no sign of fear, merely smiling calmly as he spoke: "Tell me, buddy, don't you think your orders are a bit contradictory? Do you want me to stay still, or should I toss the bag over? Please, make up your mind before you give further instructions."

"Shut the hell up and throw it!" Without a hint of hesitation, the bald man took several more steps forward, licking his bloodstained lips as he did.

"As you wish!" Chen Mo pushed up his glasses, tossing the black bag obediently, then raising his hands in compliance.

The bald man caught the bag with precision, still pointing the gun at Chen Mo while glancing down at the stacks of cash. After a few seconds, he suddenly broke into a malicious grin, his finger lightly resting on the trigger: "Kid, you're just plain unlucky!"

"You seem to really love money?" Before the man could deliver his farewell speech, Chen Mo suddenly smiled and casually asked.

The bald man was momentarily stunned, instinctively answering, "What are you talking about? Who doesn't love money? Damn, I risked my life for these—if you're trying to double-cross me, dream on… Wait, what—?"

His grimace abruptly faltered, as though someone had strangled his throat.

With a flash of azure light, several stacks of bills soared into the air, slapping him across both sides of his face with heavy force.

Though being struck by money might seem peculiar, it wasn't life-threatening. Yet, in the crisp sound of slaps, the bald man collapsed to the ground as if struck by a heavy object.

The bills, seemingly unsatisfied, continued their assault, alternating between his left and right cheeks until the chaos finally subsided…

"Well, looks like you really love money—you're so fond of it, you've passed out!" Had the bald man still been conscious, he might have been triggered into an even more violent outburst, but he evidently had no chance of doing so.

Chuckling as he scratched his chin, Chen Mo swiftly turned and leapt onto the electric bike. However, just before pressing the accelerator, he squinted in puzzlement, gazing down at the ground—

Amidst the mud, a fragment of translucent, diamond-shaped jade flickered, emitting a faint purple-red glow.

"Mine! Mine! Mine!" Guo Guo's possessiveness flared once again, and without a second thought, he snatched the shard.

Chen Mo shot him an exasperated glance before swiftly snatching the shard back. It didn't appear to be a valuable item—it seemed more like a plastic imitation of jade.

Yet something about it struck him as familiar when his fingers brushed against it…

"Boss, if you want to take my stuff, just take it outright. Don't be so hypocritical about it!" Guo Guo bounced around impatiently, muttering under his breath.

Chen Mo cracked a faint smile, though his attention remained on the shard. Almost instinctively, he concentrated a surge of blue light, cautiously reaching out to touch the fragment.

The moment his fingertip made contact, the shard suddenly erupted in brilliant purple-red light, almost as though it had a life of its own. In an instant, the light rushed up his finger and poured into his body.

"Ugh!" Chen Mo let out a surprised grunt, stumbling back a few paces, feeling a warm flow spreading within him.

Meanwhile, the shard, having absorbed the blue light, began to turn transparent, gradually revealing its true nature.

At this moment, it looked genuinely like jade, not a counterfeit, with its mesmerizing purple glow far more beautiful than crystal.

However, the strange phenomenon ended there, and Chen Mo quickly returned to normal, feeling as though he had just stepped out of a hot spring—warm and comfortable.

Curious to see if anything else would change, he absentmindedly stroked his chin and, in front of Guo Guo and Che Che's bewildered stares, did something utterly shameless: "Come forth, Sora Aoi, I summon you in the name of your master!"

Admittedly, the pose—one hand pointing at the sky, the other drawing a magic circle—was impeccable, even somewhat stylish…

However, in the midst of the two monsters' speechless expressions, the famous Japanese AV star did not descend from the heavens, nor did a single DVD appear.

"Pack it up!" Sighing in exasperation, Chen Mo turned and hopped onto the electric bike. "I knew there were no free lunches—those novels really are all lies!"

While grumbling, he stuffed the shard into his pocket, deciding it wasn't contraband and should serve as a souvenir instead.

A few minutes later, Che Che gleefully flashed the bike's lights, happily rolling over the sports car's roof, heading into the vast, empty wilderness.

Guo Guo, still eyeing the black bag, muttered, "Mine, mine, mine."

Chen Mo sighed, patting him on the head, "Stop dreaming. Tomorrow I'll go to the flower shop next door and buy you a few bundles of paper money as gifts!"

Ignoring Guo Guo's protests, he stretched lazily, squinting under the midday sun.

Only a few seconds later, a sudden, ominous feeling crept up on him: "Wait, didn't we forget something? If I'm not mistaken, we came out here for… uh, who told me where the two lunch boxes are?"
