Alex let out a soft groan as consciousness crept back in. His brows knit together, and his eyes fluttered open, heavy and unfocused. A dull throb pulsed behind his forehead, and for a moment, the world was nothing but a haze—blurry, still, and eerily quiet.
Then he saw it.
A figure.
Just a few feet ahead, bathed in pale light.
It stood tall, glowing white and human-shaped, yet hauntingly featureless. No eyes, no mouth, no face—just a smooth outline, gently pulsing like the flicker of a candle caught in a breeze.
Alex's breath caught in his throat.
"A-ah!" he gasped, scrambling backward with his hands slipping against the cold ground. Panic surged through his chest, sharp and breathless. His eyes widened, and his heart pounded wildly, thumping like a drum against his ribs.
He stared. And it… didn't move.
The glowing man—if it could be called that—remained completely still. Watching him. Or so it seemed. There were no eyes to meet, but Alex could feel it. That unmistakable weight of being seen, the kind that prickled against your skin and crawled down your spine.
His gaze darted around, searching for anything familiar—and that's when it hit him.
He was still in the courtyard. The same school courtyard.
The trees were there. The buildings. The empty chairs by the fountain.
But everything was... wrong.
There were no voices. No footsteps. No laughter. No Drake. No girls. No one.
Just him.And it.
"W-What the hell are you?" Alex stuttered, his voice shaking as he crouched low, refusing to take his eyes off the glowing figure.
The white being remained silent for a moment. Then, in a voice that was clear but oddly distant, it said,
"I am an angel. I have come to escort you to the afterlife."
Alex blinked. His eyes widened in disbelief.
"T-The afterlife? What do you mean, the afterlife? I was just… I was just in school a few minutes ago!"
"Yes, you were," the angel said softly.
"And then, you were involved in a terrible accident."
The words hit him like a punch to the gut.
"You died."
Alex froze. His body felt stiff, like it had turned to stone.
He slowly raised his hand, staring at it. It looked normal. Felt normal.
"I'm dead...?" he whispered, disbelief etched on his face.
In his mind, he thought,
"Nothing feels different. I feel exactly the same... but is this really what being dead feels like?"
The angel took a step forward, his form still softly glowing.
"Like I said, I'm here to take you to the afterlife."
He let out a faint grunt as he rose to his feet, now standing upright again. But his eyes never left the being.
Then the angel added, calmly,
"Well, I could do that. Or..."
Alex tilted his head slightly.
'Or...?' he thought, hope sparking behind the fear in his eyes.
The angel continued.
"I could give you a rebirth. Reincarnate you into the body of another individual—someone who died at the same time as you."
Alex's lips parted slightly.
"Wait... what? I don't have to die?"
"No," the angel replied.
"You don't. This situation is rare, but when two souls die at the exact same moment, we, the angels, are permitted to give a choice. You can either go to the afterlife, or take up the life of another who passed at the same time."
Alex looked stunned.
"Reincarnation...?"
The angel nodded.
"Yes, sort of. But the choice... is entirely yours."
Alex didn't hesitate.
"Yes. I want it. I want the reincarnation."
In his mind, his thoughts raced.
'Dying sucks, but reincarnation? That's a second chance. Maybe I won't be a nerd this time. Maybe... just maybe... I can live the life I always wanted. Get all the girls ...or rather, all the MILFS I dreamed of. A fresh start. Yes. This... this is it."
The angel raised a browless head.
"That was fast. Most people are more hesitant, even sad. But you... you seem fine."
Alex shrugged. A faint grin tugged at his lips.
"Guess I'm just built different."
But then the angel raised a glowing hand.
"However," he said, voice dipping with weight, "there is a rule."
Alex's eyes narrowed.
"What rule?"
The angel extended his hand. Three soft glowing orbs appeared, floating just above his palm. They looked like tiny stars, flickering gently.
"These are three abilities. Skills that will determine your path in the new world...The first one grants you a charm—a power that affects any woman within a 10 meters radiys. Based on your level, they'll find it hard to resist your presence."
Alex's brows raised slightly.
"Damn..."
"The second..." the angel continued,
"...allows you to copy the abilities of any conquest you complete."
"The third," the angel said,
"lets you heal from minor injuries. Your healing ability scales with your rank."
The three orbs pulsed again, now slowly floating toward him.
"Accepr" the angel said.
"And once you do, the choice is final. After that, the world will accept you. But before you do... I'll ask again...Are you sure?"
The lights hovered just before Alex.
He didn't hesitate.
He reached forward and gripped all three at once.
"Hell yeah," he muttered with a crooked grin.
"I'm damn sure."
The instant his fingers brushed the glowing orbs, a velvet darkness unfurled around him—gentle and warm, like the embrace of a soft blanket on a winter night.
It wasn't cold.
It wasn't frightening.
It felt... peaceful.
His breath slowed. His eyelids grew heavy, fluttering as the shadows folded around him, tender and quiet, like the world itself was tucking him in.
Then—
[Ding!]
A chime echoed softly in the void, crisp and clear like the ring of a crystal bell.
A screen blinked into existence before his eyes, casting a calm blue glow over his face.
