Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Surviving The Dead

The nurse sat on the ground of the entrance of Oscar's ward watching the sixteen years old butcher this cursed creatures, leaving them in flaming pieces.

From the ground one of the crushed pieces of a grave-walker left with only his head and an arm crawled towards her.

Though he was limp, the nurse's mind has quickly gone through how they tore her coworkers apart and at the same analyzed the scary details behind his horrific teethes and the black liquid in its mouth serving as its saliva.

"No," she crawled back. "No no no no no," with haste and eyes full of horror she crawled into Oscar's ward and slammed the door, pushing hardly against it.

For Oscar he didn't need any special skills to swing a whip around and cut down some ugly beings. He enjoyed every bit of it, even devouring them with a smile on his face.

But his good days were numbered, one of the more advanced grave-walkers grabbed the edge of his whip and folded it around his palm, giving the others an opportunity and to up to him.

He growled out loud and in the same second the others rushed for Oscar like soldier ants. Oscar smile had faded with a mist of confusion swirling around him. The beam in his eyes hollowed in, he didn't see this part coming when he took up the quest.

The last thing he saw was ugly corpses with harmful aura raining on him, he didn't get a chance to say any last prayers.

Boom! Oscar's body shot out an explosion which destroyed every enemy within 360 degrees, turning them from walking dead to flaming pieces of garbage.

A grin escaped the side of Oscar's lips as he pulled his whip back to himself, waving it in the air like a swordsman as he glared at the rest of the enemies that charged for him.

With the force of the explosion hitting on her door, the nurse opened up to take a peek at what was going on outside and was particularly shocked by his demeanor, he commanded fear with his stance and how well he handled the whip while bravely waiting for the grave-walkers to come feed off the flames.

She admired him for a second only to turn back and grip sight of more and more of this creatures crawling out to fight him. It was basically an hundred pieces of dead against one man, and he was surrounded on every angle.

"Oscar, you can't fight them all. We can escape through the window," she advised him.

{1:59}

Oscar checked the timer, "Go, I'd handle them."

"This is not one of those orders from an older person that you can choose to disobey. Come with me," she yelled.

"Where's Finn's ward?"

"Who's Finn?" she was puzzled.

"My friend in the coma."

"Ward 53. Down the hallway to the right."

"Go," Oscar yelled at her as he took his first strike at the new battalion.

His body kind of felt light, with some quantity of strength surging through his veins. And somehow after all this fighting he haven't felt any kind of fatigue in his bowels.

That was his agility, strength and stamina working in a threesome to empower him.

He launched into the air, running on their empty heads and swinging his flaming whip both decapitating and incinerating them in stroke.

He dropkicked one of the big ones as he returned to the ground, but before he could stand up and swing his whip again a grave-walker held it just like the one before.

This time Oscar simply smiled instead of panicking. The he blew up, blowing everyone within a 360 degrees radius back to hell. Without letting a second slide by he snapped his weapon at them like a makeshift towel whip, knocking off rows and rows of them before they could get to him almost like the 1978 Space Invaders game.

But unknowingly to Oscar one of them snuck up behind him, his large teeth open wide as he hastily reached for his neck.

Bam! A fire extinguisher smashed him to the ground making Oscar turn swiftly to see the nurse crushing a grave-walker's skull with a fire extinguisher.

He didn't say any words but his eyes expressed it all.

"I couldn't leave you behind. I have a conscience that will haunt me forever if anything happened to you," she explained.

With his eyes still fixed on her he slashed his whip in the air slicing down all the grave-walkers that were within 3 meters of them.

"Where's Finn's ward?" he turned back to the nurse.

"Follow me," she led the way through the empty side of the hallway, tip-toeing through the burning pieces of the death.

Oscar turned his whip into a fan, protecting both their backs as he followed her. Regardless the grave-walkers are relentless, they run through the fiery fan with only pieces of their lifeless selves making it to the other side.

"Here," after a small walk the nurse grabbed the door of a ward ready to open when an army of grave-walkers approached from the other end of the hallway.

Oscar turned around and sighted them. Both hallways were blocked with these creatures.

"There's no way to export his body out. We're jammed on both sides," the nurse mouthed out the obvious situation.

"Go in and lock the door. I'd clear them out once and for all," he walked passed her and stepped in their middle.

{00:50}

Oscar checked the timer one last time and locked in with a stance. He was ready to conclude the battle.

The grave-walkers attacked in unison, Oscar's eyes observing the one's in front in slow motion as they advanced, while his ears listened to the steps of the one's behind.

As soon as they were an inch within him, he activated his Inferno blast but in the same second he heard the voice of the nurse excitedly banging them with the fire extinguisher behind him. It seems she didn't leave when he asked her to.

It was too late to stop, his skin had already radiated emitting the explosion.

Boom! Everything within a radius of 360 degrees blew into pieces.

Oscar fell to his knees in slow motion and stared at his palms in regret. Her scrub cap floated in the hair and fell into his wide open hand; the only remaining piece of her. Oscar clenched it in his fist as a single tear fell from his left eye.

"She was nothing but nice to me!" he yelled out with every vein in his throat as he concurrently launched into the grave-walkers with a gust of fire accompanying him. His shoes were enshrouded by flames as is his fists, which had fire engulf them like a boxing glove. Even his hair lighted up like a candle.

This time he himself was the weapon, and he was doing a damn good job as the whip.

A certain destructive energy followed him, tearing out the walls of the hospital bit by bit by every single strike he uttered.
