Chapter 1 - Till the Last Memory

Till the Last Memory

Aarav loved his wife, Meera, with a passion that never faded — not in ten days, ten months, or ten years. Their love was the kind that people wrote poetry about. They laughed, fought playfully, and built a world around each other. For Aarav, Meera wasn't just his wife — she was his life.

But ten years into their marriage, something began to change.

Meera grew distant. She snapped at little things, picked fights over nothing, and began forgetting important moments. The sparkle in her eyes dimmed, and slowly, the warmth in her voice began to vanish. Aarav, heartbroken and confused, couldn't recognize the woman he once knew so well.

She stopped answering his questions, ignored his gestures, and did things that once would've hurt her own heart. Aarav tried to hold on, but the pain kept building. Still, he couldn't bring himself to hate her — even when it hurt the most.

One day, he followed her quietly. She took a cab to a hospital, stayed there for an hour, and left with tears in her eyes. Aarav, his heart pounding, went in and asked the receptionist about her. After some hesitation, the doctor agreed to speak to him.

That's when the truth hit him like a storm — Meera had Alzheimer's. It had been slowly taking over her mind, and she had kept it from him, trying to protect him.

Shaken, Aarav returned home. When Meera opened the door, he didn't say a word. He just wrapped her in his arms and cried like a child. Meera, confused, held him and tried to calm him down.

That night, she confessed, "You should divorce me, Aarav. I don't want to waste your life. I won't even remember your name soon."

But Aarav shook his head. "I don't need you to remember me, Meera. I just need to love you."

Years passed. Aarav stayed by her side through every forgotten name, every lost day, and every faded memory.

Ten years later, they were at the mall shopping. Meera stopped suddenly, tears filling her eyes.

"I... I don't remember who you are," she whispered, trembling.

Aarav smiled gently, wiping her tears. "It's okay," he said, taking her hand. "I remember for both of us."

And together, they walked on — through a world full of forgetting, with a love that never forgot.
