Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: This Represents Love

Bad luck.

The clouds in the sky were low and continued to gather. It was unclear when a sudden downpour would fall from above. But after the rainstorm, there would surely be a rainbow waiting.

It was advisable to follow the old ways and remain still. Rash actions would lead to failure.

This was the result of the fortune slip interpretation.

Looking at the interpretation, Zeyan pondered aloud, "Is this telling me to keep everything as it is and not to do anything I should not?"

Seeing this, Kamisato Ayaka softly said, "Fortune slips are just something to comfort the heart. You do not have to believe everything written on them."

The main point was that the situation they were facing was extraordinary. In such circumstances, what they needed to do was naturally not something ordinary, which conflicted with the content of the fortune slip.

Zeyan was not superstitious in the first place, so he did not care much about it. He had only wanted to use it as a way to help Kamisato Ayaka recover her mood a little.

So Zeyan handed the fortune slip tube to Kamisato Ayaka.

"Miss Kamisato, why do you not draw one too?"

Kamisato Ayaka did not refuse.

She also wanted to cheer up because she still had not given up hope. Drawing a fortune slip at this time might be a good thing.

Soon, Kamisato Ayaka interpreted her own fortune slip and obtained a special paper slip from the stand.

Great blessing.

This scene today is just right, look, the queen of a hundred flowers is about to bloom. If one can meet the arrival of spring, all dust and grime will be washed away clean.

Zeyan leaned over to look at the content of the paper slip and subconsciously said, "This seems to represent love, meaning that Miss Kamisato, your love has arrived and it is right before your eyes... uh... ahem, Miss Kamisato, you are right, fortune slips are just meant to comfort the heart, you do not have to believe everything written on them."

Now there was no one else in the whole world, only the two of them.

If it was as the paper slip said, Kamisato Ayaka's love was right before her eyes, would that not refer to Zeyan?

Although Zeyan liked this intelligent and beautiful girl very much, he did not dare to boldly declare himself to be her destined one at this time. That would seem far too presumptuous.

Kamisato Ayaka silently folded and put away the paper slip, not saying much about the matter.

Seeing this, Zeyan felt a bit apprehensive again. Kamisato Ayaka had shown no reaction regarding it, and he did not know what she was thinking.

"Let us look for some food in the shrine. Since there is no one in the Grand Narukami Shrine, we will eventually have to leave, but the way down the mountain will not be so smooth," Kamisato Ayaka said in her melodious voice.

"Miss Kamisato is absolutely right."

Since the topic had moved elsewhere, Zeyan did not dwell on the previous matter.

He turned his head to look around and then told Kamisato Ayaka that he would go check across the courtyard. After saying that, he braved the rain and quickly ran to the other side of the shrine.

Watching Zeyan's departing figure, Kamisato Ayaka looked at the folded paper slip again, her eyes slightly dazed.

The Grand Narukami Shrine was located at the summit of Mt Yougou, so naturally there was a lot of food stored.

Zeyan searched for a while and found quite a bit.

But just as he was gathering the food, he sneezed.

"Being all wet like this cannot continue. I will catch a cold," Zeyan muttered to himself, taking the food he found and turning to look for Kamisato Ayaka.

At this time, Kamisato Ayaka had also found some food and piled it up in a room.

Just as Zeyan arrived, Kamisato Ayaka sneezed a few times as well, looking even more delicate and frail.

Zeyan quickly said, "Miss Kamisato, the shrine should have some clothes, right? I think we need to change into dry clothes, otherwise there will be problems."

Kamisato Ayaka nodded.

"Zeyan, you are right. I saw the room where the clothes are kept just now, but... in the shrine, there are only the shrine maidens' clothes."

Zeyan stayed silent.

Seeing him hesitate, Kamisato Ayaka spoke again, "It is getting late. We definitely cannot go down the mountain today. Let us stay here for the night. We can light the stove in the shrine and dry our clothes overnight. Before that, there is no choice but to wear the shrine maiden's clothes."

Kamisato Ayaka herself naturally had no objection to wearing the shrine maiden's clothes. After all, she was a young girl.

She was worried that Zeyan would not be able to get over the mental hurdle, so she spoke as tactfully as possible, trying to persuade him.

It was only for one night, and there really was no other choice. Not changing could easily lead to illness.

Thinking of this, Zeyan finally persuaded himself.

"Times have changed. In this era, how can a man who has not worn women's clothing have the nerve to call himself a real man?" Zeyan muttered in encouragement.

Kamisato Ayaka was speechless.

Next, Zeyan and Kamisato Ayaka each took a set of shrine maiden's clothes and some towels from the shrine, then went to different rooms to wipe themselves dry and put on the clothes.

The shrine maiden's clothes of the Grand Narukami Shrine consisted of a white top and scarlet hakama pants.

Wearing such attire, Zeyan clenched his fist and muttered to himself, "I heard that cross dressing is either zero times or countless times. No, this situation will be broken here. There will not be a second time."

Afterwards, Zeyan stepped out.

Kamisato Ayaka was already waiting in the outer corridor.

Kamisato Ayaka, dressed in the shrine maiden's clothes, looked even more beautiful than usual. She had a serene, elegant charm about her. Her ice blue long hair and scarlet hakama fluttered gently in the wind.

Hearing the sound, Kamisato Ayaka turned around.

"Zeyan, you are out... pfft!"

Even Kamisato Ayaka could not help but chuckle when she saw Zeyan's appearance. Her eyes curved like crescent moons, looking exceptionally charming.

Zeyan grew a bit embarrassed and quickly said, "I had no choice! Do not look at me, hurry and start a fire. Where is the stove in the shrine? I need to dry my clothes."

He really did not want to dwell on the clothing issue any longer because it was far too embarrassing.

Seeing his reaction, Kamisato Ayaka quickly apologized,

"I am sorry, that was rude of me just now. Please come with me."

She had noticed Zeyan's embarrassment, so she thoughtfully changed the subject, though her ice blue eyes still held a playful glint.

After arriving at the location of the shrine's stove, they hung their wet clothes on the rack.

Next, they just needed to ensure the doors and windows were closed, so they did not have to stay by the fire the entire time.

However, just as they were about to leave, they could not help but stop.

Outside, the rain and wind continued to rage.

Occasionally, brilliant streaks of lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating heaven and earth.

This heavy rain had lasted for a long time already, and it showed no signs of stopping.

"Ah choo!"

Kamisato Ayaka sneezed again, her small nose slightly red.

Zeyan said with concern, "Did you catch a cold earlier? Why do we not go back to the stove and let the fire warm us up?"
