What? How can this... be?
The young man thought desperately in his head, as his sword flourished through the air, working to make space between himself and his adversary.
"What is wrong, human? It seems you have lost your... spark." The demonoid creature facing him asked teasingly, followed with a soft chuckle, "Don't tell me, you are the only thing in my way of laying claim to this world?"

So... this is how it ends, after going from nothing, to being brought here and becoming something.
Kai smirked ruefully, catching his breath as he eyed the demon in front of him. All around them, bodies lay strewn about like blades of freshly cut grass, painting the ground below them a deep, velvety red. The young man, who's stunning plate armor was now dented and stained red, adding to the already ornate blue trim, steadied himself, before responding.
"You seem rather confident, considering you have yet to wound me." The young man replied back with a soft chuckle, "I am not done yet, not when this world has given me everything I could have ever hoped for..."
The young man lowered his stance, and changed his grip on his round shield, from holding the worn leather handle to gripping the metal edge, like a discus. He wound up his right arm, kraaack! The shield soared at an immense speed towards it's target. The young man using the last of his strength, dashed behind the thrown shield, sword readied to provide the follow-up.
Too fast... I won't be able to handle both attacks...
The demon thought too itself before readying itself, it's decision made. Clang! The demon swatted away the metal shield aimed for it's throat, before raising it's sword just in time.
Chccckkk... The sound of blades meeting flesh sounded eerily as the young man's blade went through the demon's lower abdomen, stabbing upwards until the blade was portruding out of it's lower back.
Is this, really going to be the end?...
The young man silently thought to himself as blood began to drip out of his mouth, the demon's blade going straight through the gap in his plate, into his lower abdomen.
Was this gift I was given, just meant to be taken away from me, to be nothing again?
The two foes silently stared at each other, embracing each other with their blades, before collapsing onto the ground. The young man sighed softly as his body hit the ground, laying on his back, staring at the night sky, barren aside from a few stars.
There was so much left for me to do, and I still had to tell her how I felt..
Kai thought to himself with quiet remorse, turning his head weakly to gaze at the demon fallen beside him. It's body twitched weakly, making weird gurgling noises as more blood begin to pool around it.
"I guess, I was enough to stand in your way. Even if you aren't the strongest of your kind." The young man said weakly, with a blood-stained smile.
The young man turned his head to look up at the sky once more, his breathing weakening as he prepared himself for his last moments. The moon above glowing peacefully on the hellscape in which he lay.
