Chapter 5 - A storm Beneath

Harriet – Airport Departure

The morning sun glinted off the windows as Harriet adjusted the strap of her bag, checking her flight ticket for the hundredth time.

Her heart was racing — not from fear, but from excitement. Finally, after so much saving and planning, she was on her way to surprise Rufei for his birthday.

Her mind flickered back to yesterday's strange mall incident, and she shook her head, laughing awkwardly at herself.

"Why am I thinking about that scary man again?" she muttered, rolling her suitcase toward the airport gates.

Fred – Watching from Afar

Inside a sleek black car parked across the street, Fred sat in silence, eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses.

Beside him, one of his men handed over a small tablet.

"She's boarding Flight 215 to Bromeley," the man said. "The boy she's meeting... his name is Rufei."

Fred's fingers tapped lightly against the armrest, his expression unreadable.

"So," Fred said slowly, voice like a low rumble, "she's flying across cities for him."

The corner of his mouth twitched slightly — not a smile, but something darker.

"Keep watching," he ordered. "I want everything about this Rufei."

Meanwhile – Rufei in Bromeley

Rufei stood inside a flower shop, picking out a small bouquet of sunflowers, Harriet's favorite.

He had no idea she was coming. To him, today felt long and tiring, filled with work and endless meetings.

He smiled, holding the flowers gently.

"She deserves more," he thought, wondering if he'd ever be able to give her the future she dreamed of.

His phone buzzed — an unknown number flashing on the screen. He hesitated before answering.

On the other end, a sly, soft voice whispered,

"You'll regret rejecting me, Rufei..."

He frowned, hanging up without replying.

He brushed it off — Harriet was the only one he cared about.

Airport – Takeoff

Harriet sat by the window seat, clutching the black paper bag containing the special gift she bought — including that lacy lingerie she was too embarrassed to even think about now.

She giggled softly to herself, excitement bubbling inside.

Soon, she thought, I'll see you, Rufei... Happy Birthday.

Unseen to her, on another side of the airport, Fred's men watched quietly, sending updates.

Fred leaned back in his car seat, eyes dark and brooding as the city blurred outside his window.

"Let's see, Harriet," he murmured, voice dangerously soft, "just what kind of man deserves that smile of yours."
