Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Power Is Temporary, but Style Lasts a Lifetime!

Lu Heng opened his exclusive card pool.

He didn't bother checking how many draws he had left—he planned to keep pulling until he ran out.

"I wonder if I'll get a six-star card?"

Lu Heng was somewhat hopeful.

Most people are only briefly content. After that fleeting satisfaction, it's inevitable to crave more, and better.

For Lu Heng, five-star cards paired with ninth-tier equipment were already incredibly powerful. Even with four-star cards, he'd have nothing to fear in Teyvat, not even against the Heavenly Principles.

But six-star cards? They could open up an even broader horizon for him.

"Let's test the waters with a few pulls first."

Lu Heng casually tapped a few times.

As expected, nothing happened.

When it comes to gacha, never trust the odds.

Everyone's pull data is different.

You might get lucky today with a single pull, but tomorrow, you could go a hundred thousand pulls without seeing a single gold card.

Anything is possible.

"Staying level-headed is the right approach to avoid tilting…"

"But it's hard to suppress that urge to want more."

Lu Heng shook his head slightly and tapped the 10,000-pull button.

A noble and mysterious purple light burst forth.

Judging by the intensity of the glow, there was definitely more than one purple card.

Ignoring all but the purple cards, Lu Heng focused on the three that appeared.

He equipped only one and casually tossed the other two into storage.

He continued.

10,000 pulls.

Nothing.

Another 10,000 pulls.

Still nothing.

Lu Heng had seen his fair share of ups and downs, but even he felt a ripple of unease after 30,000 pulls without a single five-star gold card.

He pressed the 10,000-pull button once more.

A dazzling golden light erupted.

A beam of gold split through the clouds, dividing into two as it descended.

[No. 12 Fire-Type Forbidden Spell]

[Tier]: Five-Star · Gold

[Type]: [Skill Card]

[Trait]: [Controllable]

[Description]: A powerful fire-type forbidden spell from the world of magic. Its advantage lies in the ability to control the spell's power. Use with caution.

Lu Heng wasn't surprised to see something from a magical world.

"A fire-type forbidden spell?"

Sounded pretty intimidating.

Lu Heng could see more details beyond the card's description.

This forbidden spell was incredibly potent. It gathered an excessive amount of fire-elemental energy, compressing it repeatedly until it shrank many times over. Yet, upon release, its explosive force could obliterate vast areas in an instant.

What made it a "forbidden spell" wasn't just the sheer explosive power from compression—it was the cross-compression method.

This compression technique could theoretically multiply the effect several times over, resulting in a correspondingly amplified output.

Among five-star cards, this one ranked in the upper-middle tier.

"But what if I charged it up twice before casting?"

Lu Heng's expression turned odd.

This was the strength of combining cards—stacking buffs before unleashing another card's effect. A five-star skill releasing six-star power? Perfectly normal!

It was like in-game skills.

A character who scales with attack power would naturally deal more damage after standing in Bennett's burst.

"Not bad. Just a bit lacking in utility."

But for now, Lu Heng was briefly satisfied.

At least it was a card he could equip, not just toss into storage.

After equipping it, he turned his attention to the other gold card.

[Adaptive Necessity]

[Tier]: Five-Star · Gold

[Type]: [Talent Card]

[Trait]: [Expansion]

[Description]: A talent that can adapt to various objective conditions or needs.

Now this card was interesting.

Lu Heng's first thought was the concept of "spiritual roots" from cultivation novels.

With spiritual roots, you could cultivate. Without them, you couldn't.

But with this card's adaptive talent, even without spiritual roots, as long as you could comprehend the cultivation method, you could still practice it.

But…

"It's a bit微妙 (subtly nuanced)…"

After all, cards could be used directly. Even if a cultivation method required spiritual roots, equipping it would allow you to cultivate regardless.

Unless… it was an external-use card for cultivation methods, not activated through the equipment!

Artifacts like the Sky-Soaring Mirror could be linked via equipment, but cultivation methods fell under the [Knowledge Card] category. If they had external-use conditions… the equipment couldn't assist in learning them!

"Even if I don't necessarily pull a cultivation method with such restrictive conditions, it's still worth equipping. It's a rare talent."

This round of pulls was satisfying—both gold cards were useful.

Only one last 10,000-pull remained.

Lu Heng tapped casually.

Golden light flashed again.

"Am I just really lucky?"

The gold card revealed itself.

[Directional Teleportation Array]

[Tier]: Five-Star · Gold

[Type]: [Skill Card]

[Trait]: [Spatial]

[Description]: Anywhere you've been, you can accurately teleport there.

"A teleportation array?"

Lu Heng's interest was immediately piqued.

He already had plenty of combat options, but a skill like teleportation? That was something he didn't have yet.

Just from the description, he could tell how practical it was.

The only question was—what were its limits?

He equipped it.

"Teleport to Earth!"

The skill activated.

Golden lines began tracing a circle in front of him, interweaving to form intricate patterns, completing a complex array.

But the golden lines flickered uncertainly, dissolving after two seconds.

"Can't teleport there?"

"Guess there are limits."

Lu Heng wasn't too disappointed.

A five-star teleportation card equipped on ninth-tier gear could reach six-star effectiveness.

But if it could actually send him back to Earth, that would probably require more than just six-star power.

"Let's try somewhere else."

He chose the entrance of the Dawn Winery.

With a thought, a teleportation array materialized beneath his feet.

His shoes sank into the array first—as though the space it covered had turned void, and he was stepping into it.

Dawn Winery Entrance.

It was late. Though lights were still on, no one was at the entrance—only the cold, mechanical patrols of the streets.

Suddenly, a faint golden glow illuminated the surroundings.

A complex array appeared, and a foot stepped out from within.

"Not bad, huh?"

Lu Heng emerged from the array, glanced around, then stepped back in.

Returning to the shop, he continued testing the card.

He discovered something interesting.

The card was highly customizable.

In short, the teleportation effects could be adjusted to his liking.

The array didn't have to appear visibly before teleporting.

From the moment the skill activated, he could customize it.

He'd already experimented.

His body could explode into fireworks—a dazzling display before vanishing, only to reappear at the destination.

Upon arrival, he could also customize the effect. Since it was part of the skill's near-completion phase, he could choose to materialize like flowing water—coalescing into human form.

Notably, during the skill's duration, he had a sort of "super armor" effect—enemies couldn't interrupt it!

"Damn… that's kinda cool."

No wonder a teleportation array was five-star—it was this flashy?!

Lu Heng declared that tonight, this card had given him the biggest upgrade.

He wasn't sure how much stronger he'd gotten, but his style points had definitely skyrocketed!

"Power is temporary, but style? That lasts a lifetime!"
