Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: The Smile Beneath the Mask

He checked the man's communicator—it was locked with a passcode, but Jin would crack it later.

Someone had sent this spy.

Maybe the real Yeong-ho's parents.

Or someone else entirely.

He looked up at the sky.

No more hiding. If they want to hunt me… I'll hunt them first.

Jin sat cross-legged in the dark, clone body still and focused. The spy's communicator lay open on the desk before him, now hacked and unlocked. He'd taken it apart with the same care he used to dismantle his enemies—patient, silent, exact.

Inside the device were voice memos, schedules, and a few recorded messages.

One stood out.

> "Make sure it looks like an accident. killed her while sleeping ."

The voice was familiar.

Too familiar.

Jin's eyes narrowed.

"Min Jae…"

He leaned back against the chair. Min Jae—one of the loudest bullies from his school days. Rich, arrogant, and obsessed with image. Jin remembered his twisted grin when he stole Jin's lunch money. The way he laughed when Jin was beaten in front of everyone. And now…

He was jealous?

Of Yeong-ho?

Jin smirked. "So now you're the one afraid to lose?"

The girl he liked must've started showing interest in Yeong-ho—unaware he was now Jin in disguise. And that jealousy drove Min Jae to hire a spy. Probably hoping to dig up dirt or catch Yeong-ho doing something illegal.

Too bad the spy's dead.

But Jin wasn't going to let this pass. No, this time, he would hit back smart—not with fists, but with plans.

Because school reopened in two days.

And if Jin took revenge now, he'd risk Yeong-ho's reputation.

So instead, he would do what bullies feared most:

Expose them.

And then destroy them.

From the inside.

Two days passed.

The sun rose on the first day of the new semester.

Jin stood in front of the massive gates of Daehan Superhuman Academy, dressed in Yeong-ho's designer uniform. His green hair shimmered under the sunlight, tied back just enough to look effortlessly cool. His clone body was perfect—handsome, tall, sharp-eyed.

Whispers followed him as he walked through the campus.

"He's back…"

"Isn't that Yeong-ho? The guy who wiped a dungeon team by himself?"

"I heard he lost his memory."

Jin smiled faintly.

Exactly as planned.

Everyone believed he was Yeong-ho. No one suspected he was the real Jin Haru—the bullied orphan boy they all once laughed at.

But not everyone was smiling.

Across the courtyard, Min Jae stood frozen, clutching his bag tightly.

He looked pale.

Scared.

As he should be.

Jin's Beast Sense brushed against him—Min Jae's heartbeat was too fast, his breathing short. Nervous. Guilty.

Jin walked past him with a calm smile. "Morning."

Min Jae flinched. "Y-yeah… g-good morning."

That day, Jin made his move.

He "accidentally" dropped a voice recorder during class—the same spy recording he found. A few curious students picked it up and played it, only to hear Min Jae's voice clearly:

> "Make sure it looks like an accident. And don't let anyone find out…"

Gasps spread like wildfire.

Jin said nothing.

By lunch, rumors swarmed the campus.

> "Did Min Jae really hire someone to attack Yeong-ho?"

> "Is he that jealous?"

> "I heard he tried to kill Yeong-ho just because of a girl!"

By the end of the day, teachers were already asking questions. The school's discipline committee got involved. Min Jae's name was already tainted.

And Jin?

He just smiled.

He hadn't even touched him.

Yet.

Night fell.

The school grounds emptied, lights dimmed one by one, until only the training center remained open. A few lights flickered inside the forest trail behind the campus—a place no one visited at night.

Jin waited there in silence.

He had sent a message to Min Jae earlier, using a fake number.

> "I have proof you planted a spy. Meet me behind the gym, or I'll expose everything to the entire school."

Min Jae arrived fifteen minutes late, sweating, nervous, darting his eyes around.

"Who's there?!"

Jin stepped out of the shadows, his green eyes glowing faintly. "So you did send someone."

Min Jae froze. "Yeong-ho… wait, I can explain—"

Thud!

A fireball exploded at his feet, knocking him down.

Jin walked forward slowly, his voice cold.

"No excuses. You tried to kill me over a girl?"

Min Jae scrambled back. "I-I just wanted her to like me—!"

Jin grabbed him by the hair and slammed his face against a tree.

"You called me a freak. You laughed when I was beaten. You called me fat trash," Jin hissed into his ear. "Remember Jin Haru?"

Min Jae's eyes widened in horror.

"No… you're lying—he's gone—!"

Another fireball burst beside his face. Heat scorched his skin.

"I am Jin Haru. And I remember everything."

Jin dragged him deeper into the woods. The Camouflage Veil wrapped around them, making them invisible to anyone nearby.

Min Jae screamed once—then bit his tongue, trying not to make noise.

But Jin was just getting started.

He bound Min Jae's arms with fire-hardened ropes. He burned his skin—not enough to kill, but just enough to scar. He whispered names from the past—every student they bullied together, every time Min Jae kicked him.

"You like making others feel small?" Jin said coldly. "Then let me return the favor."

Hours passed.

By the time Jin was done, Min Jae was broken—body shivering, mind cracked.

Jin stared at him.

Jin finishes his revenge by killing Min Jae and staging it as a suicide. He gains a new ability: Flame Palm.
