Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Korea?

A lone figure was walking through the white hailway.

Rather than a human, it looked like a zombie with barely enough awareness to use its eyes.

Both short hair and eyes were black, with heavy bags crossing the face. Its walk was weird and unsteady as if it hadn't put that much effort into anything for years.

Its shirt was plain, white, or perhaps once white, with sleeves rolled up, creased and loose, and black pants over bare feet as if it had long abandoned the idea of looking proper. Thin black suspenders hang over the shoulders, the only thing keeping clothes clinging to its frame.

"The corridor sheds its pallid skin.", It spoke flatly to no one. "I, too, molt without purpose. Feet drag where thought has long since absconded. If there is meaning in this gait, it must have withered before reaching m-"

It noticed the increasing light at the end and the undead's expression finally morphed into something of a human's. Nothing yet clear, but some curiosity blended.

However, it was a drastic enough change not to notice the pain of glass embedding itself into flesh.

"The world beyond these walls…"

The seemingly never-ending pace has stopped abruptly.

"I wonder. Is it I who am trapped, or has the world simply grown too wide to walk?"

It was rather cold. Unbearably so.

And yet.

Yi Sang let out a quiet laugh at the sight of snow everywhere.

"Even beyond the glass, the white clings. It seems I was never meant to escape its grasp."

Alas a recurring theme for him happened.

He has been confined to a room again.

"..."

The world has not changed after all.

-

"...?", A white-haired girl turns to the doctor shifting uncomfortably under her glare. "What do you mean you found someone in here? There are several reasons why your words don't make any sense frankly."

"A-Ahem. Right, but-"

"If you aren't spouting nonsense, question him then get rid of him one way or another unless he was specifically sent here by someone.", She brought a finger close enough to bite one of her nails and continued even colder. "If someone dares to take the name Animusphere so lightly."

Olga Marie Animusphere.

The director of Chaldea Security Organization and daughter of the late Department of Astronamy's Lord, Marisbury Animusphere. She can be stiff and strict in multiple ways such as firing people just because she dislikes them, but she's a dutiful person who thinks it's her job to be the best all the time.

Because of that very reason, she was planning to go back to her office. While a possible intruder did put up some alarms in her mind, she was busy preparing the whole place of their first real mission and finding the last Master for Team B since it seemed no one was competent enough to find one person.

"..."

"Yes?", The doctor, Romani Archaman, grew perplexed as she turned around at the last second.

"I changed my mind. As long as that individual isn't weird or suspicious, bring him in. There is no way an average person would just end up here."

"This does raise some ethical questions…"

Alas, his words didn't reach anyone.

As usual in this place.

Or so he thought.

"Ah, you're right.", Olga clutched her head. "I should at least greet them after making sure they aren't dangerous."

"...", Romani looked with some suspicion towards her.

It was not unnatural for her to say that, but the timing was indeed odd.

"...Were you kicked out to socia-"

BANG!

Even a doctor needs to go see a doctor sometimes.

Yi Sang, the wet dog lookalike, turned his dead eyes to the pair entering the room. It was a new experience to hang upside down and he's also not dead.

He doesn't know if he's grateful or saddened by that.

Either way, his ever apparent migraine was on the verge of getting worse at the sight of confidence in human form frowning and a smiling doctor with orange hair. He chose to not overstep by asking about his deformed face structure.

He blinked slowly, as if the act of existing demanded more effort than he deemed appropriate. Dangling from the ceiling like some forgotten marionette, he tilted his head, strands of dark hair swaying like a drowned crow's feathers.

"...Ah", He croaked, voice brittle. "Visitors...or hallucinations? I am presently indisposed to verify the distinction."

The woman with the frown crossed her arms, her glare sharp enough to cut steel. The other man merely chuckled, an unsettling brightness to his demeanor.

He sighed, a sound like a dying breeze.

"If you are figments, I beg you, make haste. Should you linger, I may be compelled to engage in unwarranted dialogue."

The doctor peered at him with a bit of interest.

"Ah... observation.", Yi Sang muttered, half to himself. "A most dehumanizing practice. Yet I persist. A moth impaled upon the needle of some unseen entomologist."

Olga finally spoke, voice clipped. "Are you always like this?"

"Existence, to me, is an imposition at best. I apologize if my utterances seem... unsuitable for your pragmatic sensibilities."

"And how does hanging upside-down make you feel, Mr…?"

"Yi Sang. And much akin to how one might feel.", He said slowly. "When realizing the rain is falling upward. A violation of natural order, deserving neither astonishment nor lamentation."

"Well-"

"What is someone from Korea doing in Antarctica?", Olga probed finally.

"...? Korea?", He tilted his head or rather tried to, but couldn't because of his non-existent body capabilities and the extended period he stood like this.

""???""

He last saw their confused expression and exclamations of realization before passing out.

~

A bit short for the start.

Trying to imitate Yi Sang's way of talking is def taking a toll.

God, his dialogue got so much better after his canto, but I can't get that here haahahah (I will go insane).

If there's anything wrong with my imitations of characters, you can call me out to get better. I am not even decent at writing yet.
