"Before the echo of the first sin, before the scream of the first fall, there was Devil—born not to destroy, but to judge."
---
When Mortalon, the supreme God of Death, stood before the chasm that would become Hell, he realized: punishment must be swift, but understood.
Thus, he carved from his own shadow a being of near-omnipotent dread — a soul forged in fire, tempered by silence, and commanded by justice.
That being was named Devil.
---
The First Creation of Death
Unlike other gods, Devil was not born of glory or light.
He was born of necessity.
Mortalon did not wish for cruelty — he required a force that could act without mercy, yet not without purpose. Devil became his eternal assistant, tasked with hunting down wicked souls who defied the sacred balance.
To evil mortals, he is a god.
To Mortalon, he is merely the Warden.

Devil's Pact
Devil rarely speaks.
But when he does, it is to offer a deal no mortal should accept.
"Pray to me," he whispers into the greed of men.
"And your desires shall be yours. In return… your soul shall be mine."
And many do. Power-hungry tyrants, selfish kings, dark sorcerers, and murderers—all barter their essence for fleeting glory. And when their lives end, Devil comes.
Not with fire. Not with chains.
But with silence.
And a mirror.
So they may see who they really were.

The Collector of Sin
When souls blackened with evil gather in Hell, Devil binds them in cursed flame and carries them before Mortalon.
Each soul is judged.
But even in judgment, reincarnation awaits — for Mortalon, though cold, believes in the cycle.
Thus, Devil does not end. He delivers.
He is not a torturer. He is a messenger of consequence.
A being feared by all… but respected even by angels.
