Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Raven's Message

I blacked out again.

This time, the darkness was heavier—thick, like it wanted to drown me in silence. But just before I could slip into complete nothingness, a soft ding echoed through my mind.

[Reaper System updated. You now have access to system features at any time.]

My eyes are open.

And I am not alone.

A raven perched on a jagged jet black rock nearby, its feathers shimmering with a ancient glow. It radiated something more than just presence—it felt strong, almost supernatural.

"What… what are you?" I asked, my voice shaky, laced with confusion.

The bird stared at me with eyes too knowing to belong to any normal creature. Then it spoke—but not out loud. Its voice resonated directly in my mind.

"I am the essence of the Reaper System. You may call me Morrígan."

"Morrígan?" I repeated. "Can you answer me something?"

She gave a small nod,and say "Yes. Ask whatever you wish."

I drew in a deep breath, trying to anchor my thoughts. "Earlier… I saw people getting slaughtered. Torn apart by some kind of shadow creatures. Do you know what they were?"

For a second, I hoped for a name. A reason. Even just a hint.

But Morrígan's voice softened. "I'm sorry. I don't know either ."

A wave of frustration swept through me, but I clenched my fists and nodded. "Then I'll find out myself. No matter what it takes."

As the words settled in my chest, her voice echoed again:

[You've received the Beginner Reaper Package. Would you like to accept it? Say YES or NO.]

I didn't hesitate. "Yes, of course!"

Morrígan flared her wings slightly, like a mark of approval. "You've been granted seven items."

My jaw practically dropped. The list hovered before me, but it felt real. Not like a game. Not like a dream. The weight of it hit me all at once.

Before I could fully absorb it, Morrígan's voice chimed in again:

[You've received your first mission. Would you like to accept or decline it?]

[Accepting grants random rewards. Warning: declining certain missions may result in instant death.]

I froze. "Wait… what do you mean by elimination?" I asked, voice low.

She laughed softly. "You won't be eliminated if you accept the mission. And it's not impossible. Use the system well, and you'll survive. Maybe even flourish."

This system… this strange new world—it had rules. And now, whether I liked it or not, I was inside it.

"Fine," I said. "What's the mission?"

Her tone turned cold. Serious.

"You must collect a soul from Ashkara, the World of Spirituality. That is your first step."

I lifted my hand, instinctively. "Wait—can you at least tell me what I'm walking into?"

But it was already happening.

The space around me began to twist. The air shimmered, warping like water, and my body started to drift—weightless.

Then I heard her voice one last time:

"Host… we've arrived at—"
